Yelp Elite Rod is like the Sakura forecaster of Wahiawa. This is the 2 nd year in a row we've come to see the pretty pink fragile blossoms once his photos appear on Yelp. The trees fronting California Avenue by Iliahi School had several cars already parked with avid fans taking photos. We drove on and did come upon some cherry trees further up on the right hand side still on California Avenue but nowhere to park with cars there too then... I remembered Rod's post mentioning a footbridge and Glenn Avenue. Unfamiliar with the area I inputted Glenn Avenue to Maps and our eyes were scanning both sides of the street for a foot bridge. Ta duh!!! On the left hand side we spotted the place. High curbing with no place to park. So... hubs told me to get out of the car with fur bebe who we brought along for the ride. He went to find parking on a side street. Come my little fur bebe let's take a look. There was a family with a tripod taking photos so I moved and waited on the side. When they were done I asked them where they parked. The man said at the botanical gardens. Sure enough it's right across the short foot bridge. Next time. While I was getting some selfies another man came in my direction and told me there's more trees by the church. I asked him do you know what the name of the church is? He thought for a moment and said Nazarene. Perhaps next time we'll check it out but we had to hele on since I had placed our lunch order before we left the house and it was WAY past 25 minutes. Hope the cherry blossoms will last two more weeks so we can bring Doc here to see the beautiful fragile pink blossoms that bloom it seems only around this time every year. Treat yourself to see them yourself but don't wait too long.

I though google steered me wrong as I turned and noticed the Elementary School but fronting that is the park and it's lush spacious area with a playground and basketball court and their parking apparently is in the school lot. I see an impressive amount of Sakura trees they have here but as of the end of January 2022 they aren't close to blooming yet so hopefully I will be back to see them and enjoy it's beauty in this park. I was the only one parked there and I went on a Friday morning around 9. Playground: The sign says its for kids ages 5- 12. I took my 22 month old daughter. She loved it. I loved how clean the playground is! It's seriously the cleanest playground I've taken my kids to. There are two slides for kids to choose from. Parts of the park are shaded, included two benches you can sit at to watch your little ones while they play. The bigger slide has a bridge that was too scary for my daughter to go on alone, she wasn't scared, I was. A little toddler could easily fall through, but I can see how it could be fun for bigger kids to get to the big slide. Since we had the whole playground to ourselves, I let her climb up the big slide to enjoy it, rather than try to cross the bridge she could easily fall through. Despite some shaded areas, my daughter said the big slide was too hot for her to slide on around 10 a.m. Area: There are walking trails you can take advantage of. The trails go along a stream and it was .5 miles, round trip from the parking lot to the end and back. The trails are shaded, which was nice. I saw a lot of dog owners on the trails while I was exploring. There are some pull up bars by the playground. There is also tennis courts and basketball courts. I definitely recommend this fun little park and playground.

It is nice that the entrance is free, but the garden was not as well maintained as we had hoped. There was not a lot of area to explore, and the experience felt more like a walk through a forest rather than a traditional botanical garden. That being said, it can still be a peaceful place to relax, enjoy a quiet coffee, read a book, or simply spend some time away from the city. It is a nice spot for unwinding, but it may not be the best choice if you are looking for a well-developed botanical garden experience.

We saw them. - Fishing license and park entry permit is only $6 for military and residents, for a whole year. We met a few other people who had fished there a lot more than we had, and none of them had ever caught anything. Not so great for kids who want to catch something when they fish. - Park opens at 7am. If you want to fish before sunrise, you better find another part of the lake. Bottom Line: I don't think I'll go here again unless I go with a guide, someone who knows the lake VERY well. Since everything is catch and release at this lake, the fun is in the catching, and everyone we ran into that day have never caught anything!

Luckily the heat of the summer is previewing in late May already there is a spot of shade and some boulders to sit on. Not safe for white shorts. If you have toddlers or young elementary children they can run around in the grassy area. We only went as far as the boulders and didn't see any restroom facilities. It's quite long path to walk, jog, stroll, or bike through. Nevertheless, it is in no way strenuous or intense. Perfect for little ones too. People walk their dogs just bring poop bags and remember to toss it in the trash can. Didn't notice any sketchy people around but I still wouldn't go alone. It's a nice neighborhood and the path isn't hard to find when going down or up.

How it works: There are 2 prices, one for every person fishing / for each pole and another price for those just coming along for the fun! You're given a fishing pole and bait + a bucket. Once the fish has been caught and put into your bucket, its yours! The cool thing about this place is they will cook up the fish that you catch! They have different cooking styles and sauces. I would bring a chair, maybe even a small tent for shade, gloves because you do need to unhook them, and water to drink and to wash off your hands in between catches. The ponds are full of tilapia, and within an hour one person can probably catch 10 fish!

The Wahiawa District Park is a nice sized park that contained a basketball court, skate park, tennis courts, baseball field, & of course a kiddies jungle gym. The park appeared to be pretty well maintained, but the unfortunate fact is there was a lot of vandalism at the park with broken benches, as well as graffiti in some areas. Also while I was eating my plate lunch on a picnic table, several "sketch" kinda folks walked by to dig in the trash for either food or cans/bottles. If I had kids and brought them here to play, I would definitely supervise them, as you have to be aware of your surroundings now-a-dayz. There is lots of parking at this park, as I noticed two parking lots on both ends of this park. The Wahiawa District Park is not someplace I would visit on a regular basis, as the only reason is - I am a "townie". But if I ever needed a place to eat my plate lunch, and I just so happen to be in the Wahiawa area, I'd be sure to visit this park again.

Followed most of the loop trail on Alltrails, although we took slightly different route on the right side of loop which did add extra miles and elevation. We ended up hiking 7 miles. The weather was good and not too much mud. We did wear crampons the entire hike. The very long muddy hill down to the stream with ropes for aid is doable, however probably best not to do on rainy day. The stream was easy to cross with water running low in the crossings. Be prepared for long steep climbs up and down. There were a number of downed trees to go over or under. Alltrails rates the hike Hard. Glad I went back to experience the full loop.

It's a nice half day hike taking anywhere from 5 to 6 and a half hours if you're with a group depending on how often your take breaks and if you decide to dip in the streams. We usually take the route with 3 stream crossings and a steep uphill cardio burning climb. It's a great workout overall, they don't call it hills for nothing. I don't recommend this hike unless you are with Someone familiar with this area. It is easy to get lost and disoriented with many side trails.

It does have a tiny parking lot though with lots of street parking accessing this location is very easy. My only problem is the shading so if you plan to enjoy this park and need some shade it's probably not for you though it's hard not to get drawn in as the insanely huge grassy area does make you want to just stroll in to chill. There are basketball courts, baseball field and even a cute jungle gym, one that I actually took advantage to stretch and take in all the vitamin D, even though the park sits right beside the freeway being so vast all you really hear are the birds and not much else which makes it a great way to escape and enjoy a beautiful well kept park.
