What was once a sit down restaurant with a few groceries has become a take out counter inside a fully fledged Indian Grocer. This small store helped keep my pantry stocked with spices and sweets from far away places, and my dinner table filled with delicious meals. It honestly feels a bit strange to order food while buying the ingredients needed to make the same exact dish just a few days later, but it works. It truly helped me work my way through a new recipe when I had a recent memory of the taste I hoped to create. It also helped to know that if I managed to get everything wrong I'd be able to run back and order the dish again the next day. Dover is a city that has not yet learned to embrace the diversity it contains. This restaurant has been here for years but still maintains a low profile. Now that they have transitioned to take out only I hope that they will be able to expand their customer base. I'm doing what I can to spread the word about what they offer our community. Wondering what Indian foods to buy first for your pantry? Too easy! Grab a bottle of Ginger Garlic paste and just add it to every savory dish you make. I also highly recommend trying a Chana Masala mix and a palak paneer mix. Tried here a few weeks ago. Was a little disappointed that they are no longer doing sit down dinning. My wife loved the chicken tiki masala. We went here for dinner in Friday evening. The place was quite empty with only 3 tables occupied including us. Well looking at the reviews I was really excited to try some fish curry. We ordered chilly fish masala, paneer curry( cottage cheese in veggies and curry) both entrees came with rice and we ordered butter naan separately. The fish was not at all what I expected. The curry was made with fish balls which is very unusual and that too it was too much bread to cover the ball and very less fish( that too tilapia) super cheap fish and that too they are covering in whole bread(very stingy) o asked the server if he by mistake brought me a Manchurian or so appetizer and he said, well no because it's all same- made with same fish balls but in different gravies and ordered by customer ( you gotta be kidding me- but he was honest i liked that) he politely asked if I would like to order anything else- giving me heads up that it will be same. So I decided not to. And the paneer was just okie, naan was really fresh and good. We will not go back!! Giving two stars for their honesty and second dish only. Good luck!! read more

Honestly this hidden gem has better indian food than The Flavor of India (the only other indian joint in dover that I know about). Flavor of India has won many awards but they seem to have fallen off, I used to love every dish they had but they just aren't that great anymore. Kabob Korner definitely deserves to take their place and the best Indian Food in Dover, DE. And they offer egg rolls that are like gyro bread wrapped around eggs and peppers. Delightful. Went to Kabab Korner for dinner tonight. We ordered 2 shrimp kadai's and a lamb kadai to go. When I tell you the entrees are plentiful. Those 3 orders fed two adults and two teenagers. I had the lamb kadai and it was thee BEST I've tasted. The lamb had a sweet, mild spicy flavor that just melted in your mouth. The rice is always cooked al dente. This place hit the spot! Recently open, Kabab Korner offers a good variety of Indian style dishes at a good price. Not the most spicy or traditional Indian food in town, but the flavor stands above most of them. Menu items are priced between $8 - $10 and can be easily shared. They also have a buffet during lunch and dinner hours, respectively $9 and $11. The location isn't the most obvious for a restaurant, but once you're inside the decor is simple, clean and welcoming. The owners will struck you as being from a chinese background, but trust me after chatting with them, there's a sneaky suspicion India may have been home at some point. read more

The main reason for 4 out of 5 stars is because I haven't found any Indian food that I didn't like, so I'm already biased. I decided to try this place because I was looking for something different than the normal fast food and was willing to pay more to get better food. Easy to find and was surprised to see how nice and spacious the inside of the restaurant looked compared to the outside. The menu is nicely put together and easy on the eyes. I ended up getting onion pakora, lamb vindaloo and nan. The rice that came with it was nice and the lamb vindaloo had some heat but not enough to make me sweat. I'm not familiar with the onion pakora but it looked like fried onion petals but they weren't crisp (getting takeout could be a reason why, encased in a styrofoam box for the 15 minute drive home) but it still was tasty. If you're looking for something different than your normal fast food, this place is worth a visit. For less than $10, you can get a good meal that's different than the usual places around here. read more
