On December 29, 2018, we took our first ever tour on an airboat through some Florida's most untouched and pristine wildlife refuges. I must admit, my family is more Ritz Carlton-esque and we were cautiously optimistic. It was hands-down, the very best tour we have ever had since moving to the state of Florida. It was a Florida that we had never imagined even existed. Even better, was Gil, the airboat captain, tour guide and owner. One word....AMAZING!! He knows the area like no one else. He is a multi-generational Native Floridian who has grown up living on the land, respecting the wildlife, and has a passion for teaching. My 12 year old daughter, was in amazement at the beauty of wildlife in a setting that was incredibly tranquil. Gil took us to places not accessible by regular boat showing us alligators, manatees, porpoises and incredibly rare birds. Wow!! This is a must do for anyone local resident or visitor. read more

We did the Gulf tour and it was simply amazing...manatees, bald eagles, white Pelicans, wildlife too numerous to list, what an amazing day. We had such an awesome time yesterday on the airboat! I was amazed by the terrain we traveled - on water, through marsh lands, and over muddy, basically dry land...all without a glitch! We saw plenty of fish, and lots of gators - and frogs and bugs, too! I was impressed with how much Gil knew about all the trees, plants and wildlife - but then again, he said he was practically born there! He explained which were good plants/trees, which were "invasive species" and how they interacted! And I was surprised at how many of the gators and birds were camouflaged in the grasses, bushes, etc that I didn't notice til they were pointed out! It was all SO interesting!! The Kachunga Adventure air boat tour was outstanding. I have never been on an airboat before and was looking for something to do with a friend of mine so we saw the ad for the tour called and booked a day. It was awesome!! The owner who is also the operator took us all over the place where to places I never knew existed it was beautiful. I did kind of freak out when we headed towards some weeds and flew right over them lol like I said I never have been on an airboat before. We saw all kinds of wildlife and ever rode up close to dolphins that was awesome. I highly recommend this tour it was fun and Gil the owner is extremely knowledgeable about the area and has great stories. My wife and I moved to Florida 2 years ago from TEXAS and I have been in-shore and off-shore fishing a number of time but I wasn't feeling like I was getting the true Florida experience until I could take a swamp tour. I asked around to see if anyone could recommend a good airboat captain and Capt Gil came highly recommended. He was born and raised in Florida and spends all his time on the water, salt and fresh. So I booked his tour and he took us out on the Withalcoochee river, we saw gators,snakes,deer,fox and every species of bird you can imagine, hell he was having so much fun he asked if we would like to go to a restaurant on the river called the "Stumpknocker on the river". I recently went on a tour with Gil and was impressed not only by his local knowledge of the inland waterways but the sights we were able to experience. If I could give this 10 stars I would. From my first phone call I knew this was going to be excellent. We took a 10 and 11 year old boy out for what they said was "the bomb". Our guide was hands down the nicest, most knowledgeable guide. I felt so safe with him. He knew the area like the back of his hand. He took my boys to see where the baby gators hung out. We had lunch at the little private spot only available by boat. If you are looking for something to do, LOOK NO FURTHER. This was beyond worth what we paid . Hands down would recommend them !!! What a great Florida natural adventure taking the Kachunga Airboat tour! Our pilot captain Dave was exceptional. Knew exceptionally well the area, the history, wildlife, and backwaters of the upper Withlacoochee River. A seasoned veteran running the airboat seamlessly through the narrow stands of Cypress trees, water hyacinths, back channels and open waters. We saw hundreds of alligators, so many birds and many nesting pairs. So much wildlife to see on the calm river waters. Our trip this Friday with David was fabulous. Kachunga gives small boat rides so it was just my husband and I, we weren't with a large group like the other tours. We saw at least 30 alligators from new born up to very large old gators. David knew how to approach the gators so we could get close enough to see and get good shots. We saw so much nature and beautiful plant life. Absolutely amazing trip. So glad we took it! It was 4 hours of feeling like we were on the Discovery Channel!!! read more

My friend and I went on an airboat tour and it was so much fun! We saw such beautiful scenery and wildlife, it was breathtaking. The guy that took us was very informative about everything we saw, going into detail explaining about the wildlife. We had a excellent day . We meet Gill at 2:00 and the weather was just perfect! We went all around and saw beautiful nature & wildlife. We saw baby alligators and lots of beautiful birds! Took my wife for her birthday last Saturday. Captain Dan ( with 2 legs) did a great job . We had a fantastic 4 hour tour . My mom who is 95 went as well and had as much fun as we did . The scenery is amazing, imagine a 4 hour ride in the wilderness and swamps , we did not see a house after we left the dock . Great time!! Had a fun ride. We asked to see alligators, and boy, did we see alligators... They were all over the place, but he usually had to point them out because they camouflage easily in the swamp HIGHLY recommend. People were friendly and helpful and even handed us a picture of ourselves on the boat as we left. Again...go for it...you won't regret it. read more
