I thought I'd give Kaffe O another try after I was underwhelmed on my first visit about 6 months ago (slow service, order mix ups, coffees forgotten and wifi password never given to us when we asked for it numerous times). I recently heard they are vegetarian and vegan friendly and wondered what I'd possibly missed on my last visit. Luckily tonight's visit was completely different from the last and went like this: ~ Clear sign up stating you wait to be seated, so you know how things work. ~ Asked for wifi password and was given it immediately. ~ Had a vegan stew of lentils and root vegetables with crusty bread which was delicious. ~ Found out their soups and stews are always vegetarian, sometimes vegan. ~ An ethical business who source local ingredients and use Vegware takeaway packaging which is made from recycled/renewable waste and can actually be recycled with your food waste! I'm impressed! ~ Serve Ecuador Dark Hot Chocolate which is vegan. I had one made with almond milk and it was awesome. ~ They offer almond and soya milks. ~ Gent who served me was helpful, advising which items were vegan and checking ingredients. My only criticisms are: ~ It's expensive, a small bowl of veg stew with one slice of bread, a glass of fruit juice and a hot chocolate cost £11.45! ~ They charge extra for soya and almond milks (this irritates me to no end, I've noticed a couple of cafés jumping on the bandwagon and doing this recently). ~ I'm not keen on the layout, design and furniture in Kaffe O, it's quite a small space and not very comfortable to sit in. All in all, much better than my previous visit, I probably would return but only if I'm feeling wealthy as I think the menu's very overpriced. However both food and drinks are of high quality and Kaffe O is open until 9pm Monday to Thursday which is always good in my book.

I came across Fillers quite by accident a few yaers ago and have been a dedicated fan ever since…read more It's a basic kind of place interiors wise and always busy witha bit of a queue but get past that and you'll have a great meal. The food is tasty and homemadey - things like chicken and broccoli bake, chicken and ham pie, lasagne etc, all groaning with real ingredients and big lumps of meat or chicken. This is food like your momma makes, and portions like your granny serves. Servings are enormous and even I feel full after eating here. Each dish comes with a salad which translates as a few leaves and slices of tomato and a big dollop of creamy coleslaw or potato salad and/or chips. I have seen the serving staff having to literally squash the chips on to fit them on the plate. It's not just about big portions, though. The chicken pie has lovely chunky of leeks and mustard seeds for flavour. You an also get gorgeous tray bakes and made to order sandwiches to go if you're in a hurry. I've been to a couple of parties where the hosts have used Fillers as their caterers and am ashamed to say I had three helpings of dinner. I almost had no room left for wine. Almost.

When we arrived it was busy, we were told to take a menu, sit and order at the bar. Some people came in and I think were used to waiting to be seated so in order to get a seat just walk in and work away. Very busy with families and couples and service was fast. I got poached egg and bacon on sourdough, which included two of each items. The egg was fab - the yolk was so yellow and just right its the best I've had in a long time, it was really tasty. The cappuccino was also smooth and went down well. Himself had the same breakfast finished by a tea which was an authentic tea leaf cuppa. It's also a help yourself to water over at the side and they have some infused with lemon and mint which is refreshing. Not an extensive breakfast menu but I often think the smaller the menu the better quality of the good. They also do matcha lattes. Good atmosphere and buzz about the place in pleasant fresh surrounding. Also the seat was really comfy and there were numerous sockets for phones and laptops so you could come in and work away while grazing. Large outside area for seating as well.

The entrance is small, and across from some sort of loading bay or something. But worth stopping in. Once inside, the space opens up and is very welcoming. I ordered the green eggs on toast, and it was delicious (the sausages are an add-on, and in hindsight was unnecessary). The poach was perfect, and that green sauce is divine! But... I hope you brought some dental floss or a toothpick, because you will surely have embarrassing green bits stuck in your teeth otherwise. Top quality brekkie! The OJ tasted fresh with bits of pulp in it (although they do pour it from a jug in their fridge) and the latte is of a good quality. Not busy on a Monday morning. Staff friendly, and chatty with some of the delivery people, who I assume they see on a regular basis. If in Belfast for an extended period of time, would not hesitate to dine here again.

There was a great selection of savory and sweet. I had poached eggs on sourdough. My friend had the French Toast, and it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. There was fuzzy stuff on the French toast that looked like asbestos or fiberglass. It was not, it was soft and sweet, but it sure looked odd. The poached eggs on sourdough with pesto was amazing. I also got a side of bacon. It was perfection. There is a cool little shop too. If I am back in Belfast, I'll be sure to stop back.

I've seen the sign out on the main road (which would be easy to miss) every day as it's on my commute to work and yet I've never been in. So this worked out well. What a great hidden gem, loved this place. If you're looking for it, it is opposite the attendant-less Maxol garage, down the side of the used car place. The décor has all the hallmarks of a trendy contemporary coffee shop/deli, nothing too original, but to their credit they have distilled the design to the best elements of it and then executed the layout very well, so it's a nice place to be. The staff were great too which I love as there is little to endear a place to me more quickly than nice people working there who are nice, not through customer training but because they are just good folks!! The food when was great, a wide range of mouth-watering choices are clearly displayed across the huge menu..... which is the entire back wall of the place. It has been painted in blackboard paint and the menu chalked up in big clear writing. The prices although on the higher end of average aren't extortionate by any means so I wouldn't call it cheap eats but you get top quality food and service for just north of average price. The coffee was great, which is an essential element for me and the last thing I ate was a scone..... as we were there so early, it was freshly backed and still warm from the oven......................... so so good!
