About 3 Euro per pastry. The cafe itself could almost be in Spain. Its location and look means that the young trendy inhabitants of Prenzlauer Berg give it a miss. Last time I went there were about 10 older ladies, one with her wig on back wards. Don't let that put you off though. This place is a true find!

i walked by the cafe for a couple of times. i decided to go in once and got very disappointed. the…read moreinterior design didn't seem very comfortable. the cakes all looked very white-creamy and mediocre. i saw a cake that looked like it had canned peaches on top of it... i wasn't convinced enough to get anything. the staff managed to make a negative, unfriendly impression in just 2 minutes after i just had to take a look at the different cakes and no time was given and a shrug comment was made. i would have liked to give 2 stars but the cakes didn't exactly look appetizing plus a bit overpriced and the awkward interior mixed with the impatient basic unfriendliness just doesn't cut it.

Even though this is my neighborhood bakery, I am surprisingly not here very often. I get it, it's…read morebio, and they have a lot of tasty-looking stuff and a cute cafe and products that are made in house. But I am a baker, so I would rather make something on my own then buy it for slightly more than most bakeries would charge. Still, I find myself stopping in occasionally, because the breads truly are delicious. The boyfriend and I love getting a quarter loaf of the house bread (3€) an having that for weekend breakfasts or to accompany homemade soup. I've also got to hand it to them, because there are a handful of vegan muffins and cakes available, and even vegan bagel sandwiches with fake meats and tasty spreads. As mentioned before, the prices are a bit higher, but for a snack on-the-go, they aren't bad. All in all, I would recommend this place. If you are looking for a bakery that makes things fresh instead of heating up pre-made, delivered, frozen goods, any one of the Beumer & Lutum locations in the city (3 in Kreuzberg, 1 in Prenzlauer Berg) will hook you up.

I didn't know what to expect, but the employees were very courteous and patient as they put up with my broken German. I had "Baarenhunger" so I opted for some coffee, a "puddingpretzel," pastry and a 3-egg omelet. The prices were very reasonable (dare I say cheap?) and the quality of the food was fantastic. I'm leaving the neighborhood soon, but I would definitely stop in for brunch again!
