Sävy was a short walk, and the coffee shop I found that opened the earliest. Though it's listed as being open at 7:30, they actually open at 8am. I showed up at 7:47, and happily waited the extra 13 minutes until they invited me in. (What else am I going to fucking do with 13 minutes?). I ordered a breakfast combo that included a croissant, granola/yogurt bowl, and upgraded my coffee drink to a double cappuccino. The barista asked me what perfume I was wearing because apparently I smelled good. I remarked that it may have been the woman ahead of me, but it happened to be the dude's girlfriend, so he was pretty sure it wasn't her. I wasn't wearing a fragrance but the air BnB had a Linden Blossom bath wash...anyways. I was feeling good about smelling good even though I felt like shit. I digress I was stupid hungry, so I demolished that croissant before my coffee drink and granola bowl was ready. It was buttery, flaky, fresh and delicious. "On point" as the kids say. I was too tired to remember to order oat milk with my coffee, so I drank it with whole milk. It was rich, and chocolately like I like my coffee drinks. I might pay for the whole milk later, but it couldn't be worse than the airline food I had yesterday. So fuck it. The granola bowl with yogurt was legit. Breakfast here just hits different. The presentation was great, and it had the perfect ratio of fruit, honey, and cinnamon. I had a little more time to kill so I ordered another single cappuccino with oatmilk this time (internally convincing myself it would offset the whole milk drink) it was also delicious. Additionally, they have a pretty dope music playlist, wi-fi, and cool art on the walls. I'll be coming back every morning until my stay here is up. Kiitos, Sävy

This is a nice little cafe on the outskirts of the city center in Helsinki. They are focused on…read moreproviding good quality coffee from mainly roasteries across the Nordic countries. There is usually at least 3 or 4 different roasters represented here and several different coffees from those ones to select from. Coffees are made to order, usually on the Aeropress which produces a nice smooth cup. There is of course the option of having espresso based beverages as well. All the coffees here are prepared close to perfection so the coffee itself is a reason to come here and I always try to visit when I am in Helsinki. There are of course other things than coffee here and the teas and soft drinks are good as well as the chocolate. They do also sell a lot of coffee gear for home so if you are in need of a grinder, cups, scales etc this is also the place to go. Service is always friendly and they often take the time to chat about coffee or music for that matter (the owner appears equally interested in music). Only drawback has been no wifi, otherwise I would be able to hang here and work.

So maybe it's just that West Coast vibe that I love. The coffee sold here comes from all over - not just Nordic countries but even a place in Portland, Oregon. The wall has minimalistic design, with framed indie rock show posters, which serve as a nice companion to the underground hip-hop I heard playing that day. There is also ample seating, inside and out. I like that this place is also run by coffee lovers, and that the fact is evident. While there are a handful of other snacks and beverages, coffee is the main focus, and there is plenty of merchandise on sale, including presses and other necessities. They have a lot of retail coffees and gadgets and they also serve beer and wine . I went with a nice strong cappuccino here . I was hoping to get a pastry here and while they had a few there wasn't anything that made me want to try it. They had a couple of savory breakfast options. Service was good and I got my hot cappuccino pretty quick. I sat outside with a nice view of the boats and water. Good people watching spot. Nice cozy place.
