I've tried many of the Chinese restaurants in the Pawling/Patterson area and Kai is distinguishing himself from the group. My experience was he is doing what he says in his advertising. Fresh. We were looking for something new and came across Kai's on yelp. Best Chinese food I have had in a while. The seating was very nice although only 3 booths as it's a bit small. Each booth has sauces, utensils napkins and even chopsticks. They have a very wide selection of sodas/drinks: come, Pepsi, Snapple pure leaf etc. Food was excellent. Fresh and delicious. Wonton soup even had the slices of pork and scallions In it. The owners were very pleasant and eager to please. They are closing for 2 months for vacation but we will definitely be back! We had pepper steak, General Tso Tofu and sesame noddles, wonton soup and Chinese donuts. My husband can't eat the seeds and they were very accommodating to make it without seeds. read more

I think this is the best Chinese food in pawling plus the staff are really nice as well. I personally like the dumplings and crab Rangoon and my son likes the lo mein. Nothing is overly oily or over cooked, which can sometimes be a problem with Chinese food. We even ate there a few times and it was nice. read more

They make excellent Chinese Food but they take an extra long time to complete an order... especially on Friday evenings. I guess that is to be expected. However, I was told when I placed the order that it would be ready in 40 minutes. Knowing that they take longer than what I was told, I arrived 45 minutes after the order was made. I waited another 50 minutes before it was ready. It took an hour and a half to complete a 40 minute order. I often wish they would find a way to improve their efficiency. read more

Their food was good! We ordered Kung Po Chicken and steamed shrimp with veggies. Comes to perfection. Veggies still had the slight crunch and the sauce did not overpower the dish. However...the service is lacking. BIG TIME. That is why we gave them 3 stars. we called in our order for take out and were told 35 mins. Ok no big deal. We can manage that. We got there and had to wait an extra 35 minutes. Just be truthful. Don't waste my time. In reality, we will give it a second chance since its new, but we will be frank about when to pick up our order. Ain't nobody got time for that. read more

I used to love this place but in the past couple months things have really gone down hill. The food is very good but you will wait and lately they've gotten 3 of our orders wrong. Best Chinese food in the area that I've had in many years! I always order basics to gauge. My pork fried rice, veggie lo mein and hot & sour soup looked like all the others but just tasted way BETTER, fresher maybe, or perhaps it's an oil thing(?). Shrimp toast had a dipping sauce with. Very friendly, nice people running the place. I was actually advised not to order the crispy eggplant for take out, that it was best eaten in house! Appreciate the honesty! I really enjoy ordering from here. The food is very fresh (I always order steamed bean curd and veggies) and they always respect my request not to add bamboo to my order. Also the quality of the veggies is impressive. Sometimes at other chinese restaurants I feel like they give you all the veggie stems and less delicious pieces. Not here! The owner and his wife are so nice. The food is delicious. I was craving for true Chinese vegetables and since they don't have the right ingredients to cook what I want, they offered their own home grown vegetable (bitter melon) and cooked it for me. The melon was cooked just right (I'm typically used to Chinese food from Brooklyn and flushing New York so I usually have high expectations and they delivered).
