I enjoyed the creaminess and the subtle sweetness even though I usually shy away from anything remotely near black coffee. Kaldi's was a stop for me to get some school work done today. I didn't realize their spring break hours so I did accidentally arrive 10 minutes before closing. The workers were very prompt about getting my order in and I got my coffee after a couple minute wait. The service was pretty okay. I can't expect the staff to be at 100% when I walk in minutes before their shift ends haha. While I was only there a couple minutes, the temperature inside was the shop was quite chilly. I went for my regular large hot latte but wish I had seen some of their seasonal options first because they looked tasty. Even though the shop itself was closing, I was able to sit outside and work on my computer! I was a beautiful day and I wish was able to do some more before my computer died. How cool to have an Expresso in a former vintage train depot. Thank goodness Emory University preserved the building. Trains still go by its nearby track too! I visited them twice with one being stronger than the other. But the average was absolutely a 4 star. If you choose to set outside they have some limited areas. You will need to serve yourself however inside at the counter. The interior has lots of seating and it was full of students. The barista was a highlight on my first round explaining how they construct a Expresso and recommended bakery items. The Expresso was magnificent and the banana bread a delight. My second round was a mocha, not as good but great. I also ordered a scone which also was kinda just okay. Both visits courteous professional service. The baristas know what they are doing. Right on campus, this place is the perfect place to study or meet up with classmates if you go to Emory. I personally was visiting for an event on site and I could not have been happier that there was an actual coffee shop on the campus. This place is super rad for being a converted train station, with tons of seating on the inside and outside. Because this is on campus, you can never be sure of parking, even though there is a small lot right outside the Depot. The ambiance here is a great environment and I would totally go if I was back in the area. If I went to school there, I'd be there all the time for sure. As for food and drink, I know they had quite a few sandwich options, which could be great if you are there early or hanging out for a while and need some fuel for a day of working. Personally I was feeling coffee and a smoothie, which I think was the right move. Their smoothies were fantastic, and the coffee was a perfect craft cup. I recently needed a Friday cookie fix, and Kaldi's fit the bill! Location and Parking The Depot location is located literally next to train tracks and a busy street so it is better suited for foot traffic; I usually walk over on my lunch break. They do have another location with parking available. Venue and Atmosphere The space is bright, clean, and feels "homey." There are plenty of tables filled with students working as it is close to the University. There isn't a lot of space to wait for your order by the counter though, so if you have a "to-go" order it can feel crowded. Service The staff is friendly and efficient. It was my first time here, and they were certainly knowledgable about the menu and helped make recommendations. Food and Beverages I hade a matcha latte, which was new to me. The sage green color was interesting and the taste was fruity and refreshing. It tastes like the milk at the bottom of a cereal bowl, after you eat fruit loops. It has caffeine, but not enough to make you jittery. I would get it again. The banana bread was fresh and absolutely delicious! I can't wait to try the rest f their pastries. I would have loved to have a local coffee option other than Einstein's, Starbucks or Dunkin'. So count yourselves lucky, current Emory students!! Parking sucks. I've been lucky a couple of times and found parking in the small limited time parking spots at the Depot. If you can find parking elsewhere on campus and walk over, I recommend it! This is a neat little historic building being the old Emory train depot and Kaldi's has done a great job with it. I remember coming here many years ago as a student and they have definitely elevated the experience with great coffee and food offerings. I recently spent a morning here waiting on a friend having a minor medical procedure nearby and it was bustling with folks grabbing their mid-morning caffeine fix and students studying and socializing; such a nice vibe. There are quite a few tables but it's not a huge place, so be prepared to wait a bit if you want a prime spot to camp out for a couple of hours. For coffee, my seasonal pumpkin maple latte was excellent as was the pumpkin bread (I know, doubled down on the pumpkin...because fall). While the character is great at this location the parking isn't so it's best as a walkup spot. If you're on campus, definitely hit the depot for your coffee needs. read more

I love a coffee shop that is both open late and serves a variety of actual food throughout the day. Perfect place to do work without having to relocate multiple times of just when you get hungry. When I was on a research trip to Emory, I make a habit of stopping here for my lunch break, and loved the salad options. The coffee is pretty solid too. Kaldi's is located by Emory's school of Medicine on eagle row by the train tracks. There is free parking on campus on the weekends so I parked at the Michael Street parking deck by the public health and nursing school and walked over. I got a medium drip coffee with half and half. The cashier was really nice and explained to me the two types of drip they were serving that day. They have a lot of seating inside but also a patio area which is awesome when the weather is amazing. This is one of my new favorite spots for late night / early morning coffee. As busy as Atlanta can get, it's no NY, so there aren't many all night spots. This place closes 2am most nightsAnd if you find one you have to travel to get there. This place is no exception. I actually came here based on a suggestion from a friend who had visited before. I'm so glad I did. I love the atmosphere. Emory students chattering, eating and studying. (Thankfully I'm youthful enough to blend in lol) But there is ample seating and space as well as types of places to sit. They have booths, stand alone tables, table in corners, tables that have a booth seat on the other side, so everyone can find comfort while there. What I've tasted of the food was a frozen caramel coffee, blueberry scone and pumpkin bread...SOOOO YUM! Although its a cafe, they also have some other menu items like flatbreads, sandwiches, etc. you know the panera type deal. About the same pricing or a tad higher. Word of advise, come earlier than you need to. The parking is very skimpy, with the adjacent lot only containing less than 10 spots. All of them have signs that say 1-hour or less, however, I've stayed there longer, as have many others, I notice. However, be careful and prepared. Most of the people are students who live on campus and walk there so in that case, its not an issue. Oh and before I get, bring a jacket. Great new coffee shop on Emory's campus! It's super warm and toasty inside with a good casual but studious vibe. They also play all the right amounts of indie/folk/alternative/ chill house music. It can be a little inconvenient to get to if you're coming via car and don't have a campus parking pass. If you can overcome the parking hurdle and are on campus -- definitely go check it out!! It's a great place for studying, group meetings, or a casual chat. They have long tables and booths to accommodate larger groups (if you are able to snag one) and a nice outdoor patio. Some people camp out as with any coffee shop but there's a good bit of movement too so you'll eventually get the type of table you want (if you stick around long enough). There are a good number of outlets too so it's super ideal for studying. I had the veggie grits and they were delicious! They came our super hot so they were obviously fresh and they were super tasty. The tofu chorizo was a little watery but the grits soaked it up. Huge plus was that the chorizo wasn't very salty which happens often. Also had an iced coffee and a Gibraltar. The iced coffee was a little weak but the espresso shots in the Gibraltar were incredibly tasty! Side of sparkling water was a plus too. It's a little overpriced but it's not terrible, especially for the quality of the food/drink, the service, and ambiance. Also during happy hour (2-5) all pastries are $1 with any coffee/tea. Got a coconut macaron and it was AMAZING. I was going to give it four stars for parking/crowdedness and lack of tables sometimes buuuuut thinking back to all the good stuff that outweighs those two small things, I'm going with 5. read more

Emory now has 3 Kaldi's locations: inside the DUC, the medical school, and as of 8/27/2016 this newly opened location at The Depot. The Depot is located just along the train tracks under the bridge that is between the School of Public Health and WSCHAB. For parking, they have a lot with about 10 spots, but you're looking at a 1-hour limit. For those not too familiar with the campus, there are several parking decks available that charge you by time which then may take a decent 10 minute walk to get to Kaldi's. Parking is free after 5 pm in all available parking decks. The best part is that Kaldi's closes at 2 AM, woo! The space is fairly large and slightly renovated from what it previously was--a popular daytime and late night hub serving Mediterranean/French fries for hungry students. No one really ever studied here from what I remembered as a student, but Kaldi's is not only the perfect place to read and do work but also to meet up with people to eat and chat, as it actually looks more like a casual eatery than a coffee shop. I love that they have comfortable booths and side tables and lots of power outlets. As with all Kaldi's, your order does not come with latte art. Oh well. So far, I've had their Matcha Latte, their Earl Grey Latte, and their Chai Tea Latte (Rooibos). I've enjoyed all the drinks I've ordered so far. Love the enthusiastic service. I've been taking classes here on Emory's health science campus on Clifton Road and we happened to have a longer break on one of the days. I'm still getting use to all the eateries on campus and it appears that this was one of the places that people "in-the-know" go to frequently. Sure there's a cafeteria in the Rollins building and there is a food hall a little further down, but if you want some coffee and, say, a muffin, you're better off heading over to Kaldi's. Kaldi's is located by what look like train tracks and is conveniently by the school of medicine and public health. I went and grabbed a cup of espresso along with an amazingly delicious chocolate chocolate chip muffin. When you walk inside, it looks like a little cabin functioning as a train refreshment stop. People there were studying, having lunch, or meeting up with people to have a chat. A really neat place on campus! Definitely advised giving it a try if you're looking to get your caffeine fix.
