If your hair is more damaged (white paper test) than you'd like to admit, she won't lie to you about it and that can be hard to hear. The good thing is that your hair grows back healthier and stronger than before. Michelle is easy to talk to, but she can be very blunt. Nice environment- Very appealing to the eye with coffee, tea and water for clients. There's a microwave for use and eating area next to the boutique. The other stylists are pleasant and join in conversation at times. Massage - Separate service available upstairs. Different packages, prices and techniques. Nice and relaxing after a long day. Parking - Street parking in the front. There's also lots of space in the back parking lot. The bad: Saturdays (10 am -2 pm) at any salon are going to be extremely busy, so a wait is expected. We'd ALL like to be done in an hour and a half but sometimes that just doesn't happen. My advice is to make an early morning appointment or see her during the week. During my first appointment she said my ends were damaged and really needed to be cut. I knew this, but I didn't expect her to give me a haircut, which is what it felt like and what it looked like. I WILL say that my hair was really pretty afterwards, very silky with lots of movement and I couldn't stop checking myself out in the mirror. Total: $100. I wasn't prepared to pay that much for a shampoo, press and cut/trim. $60? Yes. $80? Okay. $100? I'm worth it, but damn it I didn't expect to pay that much. I kept up monthly appointments with her for a while, foolishly thinking it would get cheaper since my hair was healthier then when I first started to see her. Nope. My bill was consistently $100 for every visit. And after a while, I just couldn't afford it anymore. A couple of months later, I needed my hair done for a funeral. After that, the staff started discussing something among themselves, and the braider working on my hair left. I assumed she would return, but after waiting about 35 minutes, I was informed that she had left because the salon owner felt she was too slow and decided to split the job between two braiders. According to what I was told, she became upset and left. By that point, I had already been at the salon for 1 hour and 30 minutes. I continued waiting, trying to decide what to do, until I had been there for a full 2 hours. I then explained that it was already 4:00 p.m. and that I had no intention of staying at the salon later than 8:00 p.m. This was exactly why I had mentioned from the beginning that I have a lot of hair. Instead, I was told to wait another 30 minutes to an hour for a different braider to arrive before they could even begin the service. The fact that the hair had already been sectioned and prepared was not my responsibility, but the owner kept saying that just to keep me in the store waiting. This entire situation demonstrated a lack of preparation and professionalism on the part of the salon management. The owner already knew the amount of hair I have and the type of service required, yet assigned me to someone she herself described as being too slow for the job. As a result, I spent over two hours at the salon without the service even beginning and ultimately left frustrated after wasting half of my day.

When I contacted the salon about the poor workmanship and requested a refund, they refused to take any responsibility. This salon appears to be severely understaffed. Employees were late or didn't show up, appointments were not managed properly, and customers are left paying the price with their time and money. Save yourself the frustration. Spending over 12 hours for unfinished braids, having to return the next day, and then watching the braids fall out shortly afterward is completely unacceptable. There are too many talented braiders out there to waste your time and money here.
