We were lucky to find them open. They were cooking up delivery pizza, and they welcomed us inside, we were the only guests. The owner was kind, I ordered an amaro, we were told the menu was limited to pizza, that day. Well, we'd heard a thing or two about the Italian's pizza expertise, so we went for it, our first -- and one of the most memorable -- pizza sessions of our stay, on or off the mainland. This is just my take, but seems to me most Italian restaurants get the whole Napolitan recipe right. The secret to marvelous pie is forking into the whole thing as soon as it comes outta the oven, like, as close to burn-your-tongue as possible. And I'm pretty sure the owner was extra attentive to the random American stragglers who wandered into his place in November. He wowed us. Unforgettable.

We were a party of 54 people and enjoyed so many delicious foods from Sardines, Calamari, Eggplant, Tomato Salad, Pastas, Chicken, Swordfish... I can't even remember them all. Each dish more delicious than the last. We also enjoyed a glass of Prosecco to start with and each table had the house red and white wine for everyone. I can't wait to return and enjoy another delicious meal or two! We couldn't have asked for a better evening!

The restaurant has been operating for more than 60 years and they know what they are doing. Mauro, the restaurant manager/host, was impeccable, as well Giovanna, the sommelier. We shared one entree and ordered also 2 "Zuppa di Pesce", seafood soups. Seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection, seriously tasty. The portions were quite big, in fact I couldn't finish mine. We also got a matching wine from Ischia, which was perfect for our mains. Shame we couldn't have a dessert too... We were too full!! In terms of prices, i can't say it was overpriced because you pay for what you get. And high stardard service plus fantastic food can't be cheap. Grazie ragazzi :)

Then had a homemade spaghetti with a red sauce in which they simmer their rabbit dish. That was incredibly good! And yes, we also had the rabbit....also great! But that isn't a big portion & we knew that so we ordered their nightly special as well, the grilled swordfish with tomatos, capers, & olives. Again...Wow! We had 2 jugs of wine....€3 each! The food at this place would cost 3-4X as much in NYC! My spaghetti was €5, rabbit was €8, swordfish was a little more at €20. But if you want excellent food, come here! We took a few boat rides from Ischia just for our lunches here. Dinners were trickier because the boats ( boat taxis) stop running randomly. I mean it is Italian style after all. A very relaxed life style. And now that it's summer, everyone from the island is on vacation!!! First off: the boat drops you about 10 mintues walk from here on the beach. You can walk on the very hot feet burning sand or use the tiny walkway: walk past many restaurants and people. This place is tiny inside and tiny outside. But the food smells fantastic. Oh yea: watch out for the cactuses outside!! The rundown ~ island food! Italian food! Everything you would eat in southern italia aka local and minimal seafood menu. Pasta dishes are simple and almost as good as homemade : Italian style of course. Secondis are my favorite since they have various fishes! Our server/owner is pretty cool. Again: this is where Italians vacation! They have no need to speak English. Neither do I :D We got along famously!! They brought our appetizers, pastas and main dishes out as we requested. Love the grilled and fried fish! Fritto misto was tasty! And that gamberi pasta!! The best!! So fresh, so tasty! Grazie voi!!!! It's a little bit cheaper than prices in Sant' Angelo ( where we stayed) but it's comparable to most island prices. Its about 15 -20 euros for pasta dishes and fish can go up to about 80 euros. Our seafood was around 30 euros. Not bad at all. And considering most my Italian family comes from Rome, we LOVE seafood. This was a steal for us! We stayed here for a good 3-4 hours during our lunch which isnt' unusual. Long lunches are part of the fun being back in Italia! Overall, I love this place. I also loved people watching in scorching 90 degrees heat. The beach is literally right below me. We got chairs and umbrellas rented but we didn't bother leaving soon. And they also gave us free appertif at the end! Cin cin!! 4 stars all around but the quality of food can't be beat~ I can still taste that pasta! And that spada in olio!!! Yep! 5 stars it is!! Little antipasto vegetarian buffet was $15/pp and they double charged for it. Mozzarella ball on the antipasta buffet apparently was a separate cost of $6. We only had them serve us half of it as well. Overall a great experience but no one likes to feel taken advantage of. There ended up being a lot of people there, and most were locals. Had to ask for the check like 5x, stand up and walk to counter after 30 minutes. I didn't want to make a fuss. If I didnt have my luggage with me and didn't need to leave on my last day in the country, I may have made a bigger deal. Not about the money but the principle.
