My eldest is at a point where he does not need constant help with his French and is now even correcting our and his siblings' French! We've been with Petite Library since it started as a small learning pod during the pandemic and are appreciative of Sumina and her genuine care for the kids' French comprehension. Our third child started French Pre-School with Petite and was very well prepared for French Kindergarten at AAM the following year. My kids love their teachers at Petite Library and enjoy their time at the center with other students doing arts, science & theatre all in French. Our youngest child, who will start Kinder next year at Altadena FDLIP, is looking forward to joining her siblings at Petite.

They not only focus on a multicultural education, but also make learning fun. They help with core curriculum development and they also work on hands on learning. My daughter never wants to leave, she loves the community and the projects she gets to work on. She loves learning and her French has developed tremendously. They work in small groups for targeted reading, writing, and math. The teachers are amazing very knowledgeable and supportive. We love this program because of its rich content based curriculum and structure.

I am writing my review here because I see some negative reviews of this institute, and those reviews are not true. The negative reviews even do not explain why the school is bad. I am telling you here why Poly is a great place to "start" learning English. I know a lot of students have passion for fluent English skills, but there are always "steps". It is true that Poly do not teach "a college level English skills". However, it is also true that "you do not need a college level English skills" before you transfer to a college because the college wants you to learn the advance skills in their education system. Poly is just helping students to "prepare" the college level English. So, be patient and don't get freaked out. To describe the atmosphere of the Pasadena campus, I have to mention about this: the school has extremely friendly staffs, Max and Nataly. They always make a smile on their face, and love to joke with their student. They continuously put their efforts on improving supports on their student. As a result, I see they have recently built a spacious student lounge which did not exist in 2011. In addition, Poly provides a TOEFL class, which is for the students who seek for an advance level class. Lastly, make your sentence simple and clear when you have a question to your teacher. The teacher won't "ignore" you. The instructor just cannot fully "understand" your questions. If you make your sentence clear enough, the teacher will answer you. You also should show your respect on your teacher as a student. Because I attended Poly, I was able to transfer to a college, and was able to make more friends in this country. I personally appreciate to Poly for those my personal achievements. Poly may not a place to satisfy your expectation 100%, but is the right place to "start" your English journey.

Our children have been to other "montessori" preschools that weren't certified, and they were completely different. At IMA the staff are highly trained, knowledgeable, and responsive. The classroom environment is beautiful and quiet, and filled with activities for the kids. Our son has thrived here. He loves his teacher and friends. The IMA parents community is also wonderful, the staff shares parent's contact information so it's easy for us to have play dates with other families. 100% recommend with no reservations (as a parent whose children have been to a combined 8 daycares!). It's such a relief to drop my son off at school knowing he will be safe and well taken care of in an environment where he can grow and thrive.

Our biggest issue was communication. The school moved her between classrooms more than once without discussing it with us first. Our repeated requests to move her back went unanswered, and updates on how she was doing were few and far between. Our daughter was struggling at IMA and it was clear that the school did not have the skills or staff to support her. Their approach was not a good fit for our daughter. If your child may need individualized support or a more communicative partnership with caregivers, I'd encourage you to ask detailed questions before enrolling. We wish we had, and we wish we'd trusted our daughter's unhappiness sooner.

During the school year, multiple children in the TK class were involved in incidents that were not handled appropriately by the classroom or administration. The situation ultimately resulted in a teacher facing criminal charges for "willful cruelty to child", along with documented concerns involving multiple children. As parents, it was incredibly difficult to continue sending our daughter into an environment we no longer felt confident in her safety of the school or PUSD leadership's judgment. Our concerns extend beyond one classroom or one teacher. In our experience, Principal Dr. Hill did not provide the level of leadership, transparency, or accountability we expected when seriously concerns were brought forward. We repeatedly left conversations feeling that our concerns were minimized rather than addressed directly, an dour confidence in the administration quickly eroded. Parents, teachers, and aides had all brought up concerns to the principal before the teacher's actions escalated to a criminal level. She did nothing to prevent harm coming to students. To be fair, there were a few positives. Our child loved making friends and there are caring staff members who genuinely want the best for students. However, trust is foundational and once that trust is broken, we could not justify keeping our child there. We ultimately withdrew from the district entirely. Every family's experience will be different, but I believe prospective parents deserve to know that serious concerns arose during our time there and to ask detailed questions about school culture, supervision, and how concerns are handled before enrolling.

It's a shame that the San Marino after school Chinese program has been taken over by this new principal. She is hostile and rude, does not care about the kids or families, and only cares about proving her point. Also there is no longer part time option like before only full time paying option. We don't mind paying for a good program but with this new leadership under this new Chinese school principal, 7 of us families decided to leave the after school program. The previous principal was kind, reasonable , and cared about the students well being and learning and had good communication with parents. This new principal does not care to help resolve any issue or parent concern when we brought it up. She just responds too bad and want us to hear her credentials. Honestly as parents we do not care how high level of education anyone has if they don't care about the people and the kids. That's what matters. She's missing the point. We really hope they can replace this principal.

This is almost unbelievable and absurd but in desperation to enroll both my kids, I coughed up over a thousand dollar for less than 20 weeks of classes with many holiday weekend. When asked why full year tuition, the reply was it is up to you if you want to enroll your kids. There is basically no POS like a retail business. Just manual receipt. It is no doubt about the price being reasonable if you are enrolled in full year. Not when you start in January but ended up paying from last August. The school should just make adjustment for fee due date, why overcharge the parent for those weeks of classes/service not rendered. It really made people feel uncomfortable paying for the entire year of tuition. Kudos to the teachers and volunteers who are great but not the administrative staffs who are unkind and disrespectful.
