    Dolphins playing at the shoreline
    James D.

Clean, close to the cruise ship landing with water so blue, you'll be mesmerized.. it's easy walking to get there. This morning, 2 dolphins were entertaining the tourists by swimming laps back & forth the length of the shoreline

    Gosh seen while snorkeling.

Loved how calm the water was and how much snorkeling my family could do! Lots of people from the hotel had chairs and umbrellas but it wasn't difficult to find a spot to lay down a blanket and relax. (Note: we did go during the week and not on a weekend in July)

Nice beach near the Marriott King K and the Kona Boys Beach Shack

Great Beach Near the Kona Boys Beach Shack for Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Snorkeling Want a quieter protected beach in Kona? Come to Kamakahonu Beach. Easy to get to this beach in town. Fun to swim or snorkel in the calm water. There are also "cooling vents" under the sand, so the water is a bit cooler in certain spots as you splash in the clear aquamarine water. Not sure what to do with your day, or days, at the beach? Kayak? Stand Up Paddle Boarding? Snorkel? Why decide! At Kona Boys Beach Shack, they have it all! Eden, Dylan and Lakin were so helpful with setting us up with SUPs during Ironman. So much fun to paddle out to the coffee boat or just lazy around on the lagoon. Water was so cool and refreshing while we were rocking our Sportkini bikinis. Fun to see fish swimming underneath our boards as we paddled out in the harbor. SUPs were $29 per hour and kayaks were $19 per hour. Make sure to check-in on YELP. Very convenient location next to the Marriott King K hotel. Thanks again to Eden, Dylan and Lakin for several great days at the beach.

Shallow and calm waters, great little beach. Perfect for kids or people who might not be familiar with harsher waters. Definitely worth checking out.

Espectacular para niños . Y adultos también Muy relajante. Había varios indigentes y es un poco incómodo por que nunca sabes como van a actuar . Pero no nos molestaron .

This protected bay has over 120 species of resident fish, and usually has clear water. Other than urchins (7 species) there is no marine life to worry about. Turtle sitings are more likely at high tide when their salad bar (the algae on the rocks) is available. Typically from 9 to 3 daily the Reef Teach volunteers have photo guide books and other reference materials available, along with free advice, defog spray, and reef-safe sunscreen. Water access is the narrow and shallow rocky channel in front of the lifeguard station by the parking and pavilion. Swim fins or sand shoes are recommended. The locals value their feet and swim through it even at low tide when it is only a foot deep. Coming back in you can actually swim all the way back to the sandy channel. The water is usually noticeably warmer and clearer away from the entry. The bay is shallow with only a few places that are even 8' deep at high tide. Unless you really need to, don't stand on the bottom or coral - fins and feet damage it.
