The tour was nice but we froze our dupes off. I want to go back in the summer. The one NEGATIVE was the fact that Polish people do not believe in snow removal. Nothing was shoveled, they just sprinkle sand over it. Not good for the elderly or those with bad joints.

It was burnt and gutted during World War II - and restored to grandeur - with continued restorations (there are photos of the destruction). The original part was build in the late 13th century within a group called the Teutonic order - that was a separate nation-state. After that state ended, it became part of Poland. It continued to get used and added to throughout and has so much history to it. We've visited many castles in France and Poland and this is certainly amongst the best. We actually got a guided tour so we could ask questions and our tour guide was fluent and English and told great stories.
