Stop in after dinner because we saw the line of people waiting to get in. Conveniently located off of Gervais street. We ordered the key lime pie, red velvet cake, and a chai tea latte. The take out spot is crowded and seating is limited but your order comes out fast. The chai tea was delicious and made with love. The red velvet cake was okay, it lacked that southern richness and taste. The key lime pie was good.
This was an experience that I have never had before. A dessert bar for starters but one that is truly authentic about serving dessert and coffee. A safe place to meet on first dates, friends, family. Listen to great music enjoy dessert with coffee or even a little liquor if you want. It's truly unique and I hope the continue to do well. Go check them out. You'll love the vibe. Staff is super nice as well
Super cute dessert restaurant. Full bar. Perfect for a date, friends get together and place to bring your (well behaved) child. Fun ambience, great service. Son had the kids sundae, husband had a mega slice of chocolate cake and I had the bananas fosters Manhattan . Sweet and strong. Definitely recommend coming here for a post dinner treat
The service was great. If it's your first visit, make sure you look at all the cakes in the display case before being seated. Otherwise you'll have to get up later to see the options available to order. I did not know this the first time I visited. However, now I know what to expect. I still think a menu would be helpful, even with the daily rotating cake selection. This is a good place to go after dinner to have desert or just a drink. There is plenty of room for groups. There's actually an extra room/building for additional seating.

Great dessert establishment that serves a variety of cakes, coffees, and a limited selection of icecream. They are more known for their cake selection and I highly recommend their NY Cheese cake and carrot cake. The cream cheese icing on the carrot cake isn't too overwhelming and the portion size is huge. My favorite dessert here though is the cobbler. Flavors change pending season but typically they have the peach and mixed berry cobbler. I think the peach is better and getting a scoop of vanilla icecream on top really gets different flavors going while getting some hot/cold all in one bite. I wish they had more icecream flavors to choose from. Only having vanilla really limits options, so when you order the strawberry milkshake, it's not real strawberry but the syrup blended into vanilla icecream. Seating can be limited despite having 3 rooms to cater to customers, especially on the weekends. They are open late till 1am on Friday and Saturday which gives flexibility to grab dessert post late dinner. Parking is terrible; street parking only. Overall, staff have always been kind and helpful. Great place to swing by to grab some desserts and socialize.
I came here on a Saturday around 8:45pm. There were a fair amount of people inside at the tables. I heard the hostess said the wait for a table was about 15 minutes. I just came to place a to-go order. It was a smooth and easy process. It only took less than 5 minutes for them to have my order ready. I ordered one slice of chocolate cream cheese cake and it cost $8 for the slice. I thought the cake was a good consistency, but the icing was not as good as I was expecting and I am normally a big fan of cream cheese. I would consider coming back again to try a different menu item. I rated it a 3 based more on the cake alone and it did not impress me enough to go out of my way to come back.
Servers were efficient, friendly and accommodating. We came in after a long, difficult day and needed a treat. Kaminsky's serves it! We had coffee drinks (the server checked for us first to make sure the coffee was not dark or French toast, which we avoid), key lime pie (luscious), and a warm fudge-y brownie (my second favorite ever, after Companion Bakeshop in Santa Cruz) with vanilla bean ice cream. It was so rich we couldn't finish it but enjoyed the bites we could eat! Wish we lived here so we could return often!
Very nice atmosphere and customer service. The cake was pleasantly the perfect touch. It wasn't too moist or dry. I was happy to see the red velvet didn't taste chocolate. Iykyi Waiter asked us multiple times in a short amount of time if we needed anything which felt a bit rushed considering we were only having cake/coffee. However, overall good customer service.

I've been to this dessert bar twice now, once for my birthday and once for my son's birthday. The first time, it was just my husband and me. We sat at the bar and had a slice of cake, a chocolate shake, and a cocktail. It was such a great experience. Everything tasted amazing, and the cocktail was adorable. It even had Curious George's face on it, which made it feel extra fun and thoughtful. The second visit was for my son's birthday. The desserts were still absolutely delicious. The churro cake was insane in the best way. They truly know how to do desserts. My only downside the second time was the table. They have a thick, waxy film on them that feels dirty and sticky underneath. It honestly feels like they need to be scraped down and re finished because touching them is uncomfortable. It takes away a bit from what is otherwise such a great experience. The staff has always been friendly, and the cakes and desserts are consistently amazing. Because of the table issue, I'm giving 3 stars, but I'd happily give five if that detail was improved. read more

My bestie recommended this place. I ordered a dessert drink called the tiramisu. It was made really quickly and tasted delicious. Just the right amount of alcohol for me. I also ordered the bourbon pecan pie. I added a scoop of ice cream to it, it was served to me as if it had just come out of the oven. Love love love! There are so many pecans on top and the consistency of the pie sauce is a bit of a fall apart. No complaints for me, I loved it. I also ordered a limoncello blueberry mule. To me it was very similar to a Paloma in taste and my favorite of the two drinks I ordered. It had ginger beer as a base. My friend ordered a Samoa cookie beverage ( tasted exactly like a Samoa) and a key lime pie drink. They also had the white chocolate raspberry brownie cake. The bartender was nice. They greeted us when we sat, took our drink orders and carded us. This place was busy. Nice vibe though. read more

Came here after dinner and got the tiramisu desert cocktail($13). Drinks came out in about 7 minutes. The tiramisu cocktail was really good, the expresso rum and chocolate Liquor mixed well together. It didn't necessarily taste like tiramisu, but it was sweet that it didn't matter. Service was ok. Overall a very cute dessert cafe with good drinks and cocktails! Customer Service: 5 Affordability: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Location: 5 Atmosphere: 5 We stopped by Kaminsky's dessert cafe this afternoon, to place a takeout order of their chocolate cake. They have a full menu of desserts and other delicious options. Their prices are very affordable as a 2 layer cake is $8 per slice, and a 3 layer cake is $9 per slice. The young lady who took our order was very friendly and helpful. This Cafe does offer plenty of indoor seating available, and is definitely a very relaxing atmosphere. read more

This is my sweetie's favorite dessert spot, so we go here a few times a year. Maybe except for when it first opens for the day (we actually have been there at that time) this spot is always, always packed. That's sorta good for ambience, but bad for if you just wanna chill (like on a recent Tuesday night). Of the regular cakes, more often than not we get the Red Velvet Cake, but I recently got the Hummingbird, which is a new favorite. The gluten free Poppy Seed cake is also excellent. I'm not a big fan of chocolate cakes but have had a few - they're pretty good. It's all a bit overpriced though, especially when certain cake staffers provide mediocre cuts of cake.. read more

The trifecta for me is; downtown, quality coffee/espresso, and sweets. And then, the icing on the cake (pun intended) is when it's somewhere out of town. Now this is only just over a hour away from me, but just far enough that I don't visit Columbia on a regular basis (though I know I should). But when I do visit, Kaminsky's is always a must stop location. Right on Gervais Street, the sign doesn't pop out but that's to avoid redundancy. As you walk by and glance in the windows, you see a lit display case filled with cakes and pies. I feel a word of caution is needed, as you may stop suddenly. A drink or bag in your hand may meet the sidewalk due to the jolt. There is nothing subtle about the view. I always do an Americano because 1) they are delicious here! and 2) it counters the sweetness of the massive slice of cake I will inevitably order. Though they are all good, I will mention the one I last enjoyed...the banana pudding cake. Three fluffy, moist layers of cake with the pudding and wafers between. It truly is Memaw's nanner pudding in a cake form. I love the ambiance created by the original brick and local art and the team members are always friendly. I always leave here with a smile on my face and no room in my belly. Hmm, I need to make the drive to Columbia real soon. read more

This is how they served my to go order of cake. The attention to detail and overall quality has gone downhill over the last 2 years. Kaminsky's used to be my go to place for desserts but the last few times the quality has been subpar. I will probably not go back after today or recommend them to others. Paying $9.20 for a piece of cake and it looking like it's been already eaten off of is not ok. Also for the pie slices prices have gone up and the size has gone down. read more

A modern cafe with house made treats and a coffee bar. This is a great place for an after dinner sweet treat. We always get seated immediately if not within 5 mins. The servers here are wonderful and very attentive. One star is docked because the cakes can be very inconsistent. Some days they are moist and flavorful and others they are dry and crumbly. The ice cream sundaes are always delicious. A must try if you're in the area! read more

Purchased two desserts from Kaminsky's to go after dinner. The inside was an ok atmosphere, decorated with a kind of grandma esthetic, but they had plenty of tasty looking dessert options. The place was very busy and I was excited to dig in to some delicious looking treats. The service was efficient enough, but the desserts were just ok. $5 for two cookies that were a bit undercooked. (Tasted like the standard back of the chocolate chip packaging recipe). I also purchased the pecan pie which was solid but nothing special. I was given a very small slice for what would run me $15 for the pie slice and two cookies. The pie was completely cold and no one gave me an option to have it warmed for my to go order. I'm staying right next door so having them warm it up for me would have been ideal. Especially when they're making you pay for to go packaging. All in all underwhelming experience. read more

Best customer service around! Been here a few times and every time it amazes me. Love the energy. I alway love the music but it's not too loud that my 1 year old can enjoy. My family and I went here after eating dinner and it was such a great time! Our waiter (who I thought was named Elijah) was so attentive, friendly and kind. The holiday playlist was awesome and it was prettily decorated as well. The bathroom was clean and my cookie sundae was terrific! read more

Decided to venture in and have dessert. The showcase of desserts looked wonderful, so many choices , difficult to choose just one. The place was crowded, but we were able to get a table . We were given menus and water was brought to the table. We decided on the double chocolate three layer cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. We also ordered a macchiato latte and a hot chocolate, with whip cream. As we waited we looked at the art on the walls and watched the desserts go by us. Our dessert arrived first but we had to wait for our beverages. We were almost done with our cake when the beverages arrived. Our server was awesome , very apologetic about the beverages arriving late. Instead of hot beverages you could order a mixed drink, beer or a milkshake ( alcoholic or non) . It is a place we would come back to again when in town. read more
