This was cool despite high season admission price. But you know, I get it. Where else would I see kangaroos and feed them willow leaves? Also got to pet bunnies, capybaras, and a porcupine, so I mean, yeah okay. The experience was worth $90 for my family to do that. Very reasonable prices for the beverages available. Amazing amazing gem of a place I stumbled upon while visiting Kelowna :) This is the best petting farm for kids as well as adults! There's something therapeutic about being surrounded by lounging animals. One of my favourite animals are the sugar gliders and I was able to pet one :) The place is huge and has a variety of animals: kangaroos, wallabies, emus, capybaras, porcupines, turtles, rabbits, goats, sugar gliders, snakes etc. I even saw an albino wallaby. Some awesome things about the place: -they also have a few rescue animals -the place is big and you have animals intermingling and lounging with other animals, such as emus, kangaroos, and chickens -they give you a treat for the animals and don't charge you -price for admission is sooooo reasonable, cheap compared to other places -they have handlers that educate you about the animals and how to behave around them -the people who work there are knowledgeable -parking is huge and free -there is a lunch stand with reasonably priced food as well as lots of lunch tables There is no downside and I've been recommending this place to family and friends. read more

On our recent trip to Kelowna, we visited the Kangaroo Creek Farm located almost right next door to the Kelowna Airport. The name is a little bit of a misnomer. In addition to Kangaroos, we also saw wallabies, emus, capybaras, porcupines, turtles, rabbits, goats, a large assortment of exotic birds and reptiles, and one show turkey. We happened to visit at the same time as a school field trip and a retirement home field trip, so there were a lot of individuals wandering about. There are two main areas, one with mostly kangaroos, wallabies, capybaras and goats, and the other side contains almost everything else. There is a sign listing out the rules of the farm (including how and where you can pet the animals) and you are given a quick refresher upon entering each enclosure. All the staff there are upbeat and very knowledgeable about the animals. There was a mini heat wave when we visited the farm, so we took the cues from the kangaroos and stuck to more shaded areas. A great place to visit if you are looking for something to do other than visit a winery. read more

We started off our second day in Kelowna at Kangaroo Creek Farm, a family owned farm that has kangaroos, wallabies, emus, turkeys, parrots, capybaras, goats, and more. We arrived right at opening, 10am, and already there was a long line up, but the wait to get in was pretty quick. Even though there were a lot of people visiting the farm, people were pretty good at not crowding you, and physical distancing was easily achieved. You were allowed to pet the goats, kangaroos, wallabies, and capybaras (which had surprisingly wiry fur), and I had the opportunity to feed a corn cob to a capybara. Despite being a group of adults in our 30s, we all had a lot of fun -- Kangaroo Creek Farm is suitable for people of all ages. Don't think you can go up to the ticket window while your partner is parking your vehicle and say "Two adult tickets, please" without hearing," Well I only see ONE PERSON!" because you'd be wrong. Didn't even know this place existed till a family member put this place on the must-see-do list during our winery tour. I'm glad I went as it was an amazing opportunity to pet kangaroos and wallabies. Kangaroo Creek Farm rescue kangaroos, wallabies, birds and other animals. Cost is $12/adult. They take credit cards. Upon paying, instructions were given for social distancing, when and when not to pet the animals and then handed a small bag of popcorn to feed the kangaroos/wallabies. We were there for an hour as the farm is not that big. This would be a fun place to take young children and anyone wishing to pet kangaroos/wallabies. Suggest you go early in the summertime to beat the heat as certain areas of the farm have limited shade. This is one of the most exciting place to visit for animal lovers. The farm is located off of Old Vernon Road on the East side of the airport. Admissions for adults is $16 and there are ample parking onsite. The farm is divided into three sections: petting area, non-petting area, and dining area. Inside the petting area, they have kangaroos, goats, and a turkey. The farm provides you with a bag of popcorn that you can use to feed the animals. There is also a capybara with two younglings roaming in the petting area, although they are very skittish and impossible to pet. On the other side in the non-petting area, they have reptiles, parrots, kangaroo, turkey, emu, capybara, and ducks. The animals are all kid friendly and a joy to be around with. Paying $10 (cash only) to visit a petting farm of wallabies and kangaroos? Oh hell yes. Was visiting in town for a wedding and made this place a top priority, because where else can you pet these creatures. It was the busy Canadian weekend holiday, and the place was packed 30 minutes into opening morning. I think the sheer volume of people overwhelmed the animals in the huge open field petting area. The staff gives you free food (popcorn and pellets) to hand feed them, but most I encountered stayed to the fence perimeters and didn't want to engage much; some were even grumpy, but can't blame them given the lack of respect where parents didn't keep control of their kids. The albino wallabies hiding from the sun were the cutest and most engaging IMO. You can also see emus, peacocks, goats, chickens, birds, capybaras roaming the grounds too. I was but disappointed they didn't have the baby kangaroo holdings and I didn't get to see any sugar gliders that day. Nevertheless this place was a great diversion. Note parking is side street only. You can however drive down the steep hill into the entrance for about 5-6 handicapped parking spots. read more

Kangaroos, wallabies, emus... capybaras! While I might not recommend going during a heatwave, this place was super awesome. We loved exploring the park area and getting up close and personal with all the animals. Once you enter, it's quite a bit to take in. Where do I go? Is that a kangaroo? I thought they were bigger. (They ended up to be wallabies.) The farm is separated into two areas: A strictly "do not touch the animals unless told otherwise" side and a "show animals all the love" side. Our favourite encounters would be the baby emus that nip at your toes if you get close enough and the sugar gliders that you are able to hold and will scramble around your body and look incredibly adorable doing so. Usually I'm cautious with animal attractions, but I read up on the farm online and decided I agreed with their practices from what I could see. The animals all seemed happy (and well fed). Every single person from adult to child loved the Kangaroo Creek Farm. There are tons of animals (the majority and main area being kangaroos) roaming freely around the farm. One thing I really liked is the fact that they all looked happy. Animals you can pet or approach closely are kangaroos, capybaras, goats, miniature ponies, emus, turkeys and ducks. There's also a bird section, but we didn't get a chance to see it. There are three things to keep in mind: 1. Be respectful of the animals 2. There is poop everywhere since the animals can run around freely, so wear old shoes or prepare to wash afterwards 3. The entrance fee is cash only for $10 per person. Best $10 (cash per adult) I've ever spent. Knowing that it goes towards feeding and caring for the animals is worth it since they really do take such great care of all of the animals. There are 3 separate areas containing different animals, but I would go see the Joeys first since that area gets busy really quickly since you get to hold the babies. I would also recommend going when they open for the second half of the day since it's not as busy. We also came when they had a reptile expert come by with some creatures for show and tell. We had the best morning here! So much fun. The three of us in our mid twenties and my parents went and it was cool for us too not just for little kids. The good thing is there's a ton of staff that walk around handing out pellet food to people so they can feed all the animals. My dad was especially impressed at how clean the grounds are (we saw a girl sweeping up all the poops). The animals just walk around in a huge field with lots of props for pictures. One patch had adult kangaroos, emus, and wallabys and there are so many of them that you didn't need to wait for a turn they are literally everywhere. There's also a separate part for the baby Roos which are super cute and the staff bring them around for you pet them and ask questions. The two pigs in this area even came up for visitors for a scratch! In a different field there were maras and goats and an interactive session with a sugar glider who got to be held by almost every person willing. It was a really great experience and would be perfect for a date or even just a hangout with friends. Finally there's an exotic bird area and although this part was a little harder to get face time with the animals it was still nice to see and people could hold and get pictures with them. All the staff are so nice and answer questions (even ones I'm sure they get asked all the time) with patience and depth. We learned a lot and felt happy as we walked up the massive hill to the parking lot. Note: there's handicap parking at the bottom of the hill but everyone else has to trek up and down. read more

My friends and I stopped by the Kangaroo Creek Farm when we went to Kelowna and loved it! For a $10 adult entrance fee, you get to hold baby joeys, pet all sorts of different animals and the staff even give you free food so you can feed the kangaroos/wallabies. We were allowed to hold the baby wallabies for around 5 minutes so it didn't feel rushed at all. The largest kangaroo on the farm is called Optimus Prime (haha!) and we noticed that he looked a bit loopy. The poor thing was attacked by a raccoon one night and the raccoon transferred some sort of incurable disease to Optimus. Now he lives with a brain disorder that's not fatal, but causes him to act like a drunk kangaroo. He was adorable but it was so sad to see him acting all drugged up :( Hope they build better fences in the future for the safety of their kangaroos! read more

The Kangaroo farm far exceeded my expectations. We had no idea that we could be close and personal with all the animals on the farm. The staff were excellent and very friendly. The animals are all so adorable and the kids loved the experience. We were able to pet, feed, learn, and give milk to some of the animals. You can tell the staff are very respectful of the animals and they are well taken care of. The animals were not stressed and seemed to enjoy the company of people...especially those with food. The farm has many animals such as Kangroos, ducks, goats, birds, pigs, wallabies, and many others that I don't know what they were. We arrived 10 minutes before closing as unfortunately we had read the wrong opening times online. One of the staff members (I believe his name was Brian) was at the gate and heard the disappointment in our voices and said we could still come in for the last 10 minutes in the field (where the chickens, turkeys, goats, capybara etc were). Entry is $10/adult. $5/senior or child 5-19 and grew under 5 years. Middle of the week and early we got plenty of time with the animals and staff was friendly! No gift shop which is nice because they're clearly NOT in it for the money however I think it'd be nice to have a small shop with farm name on it for us tourist to keep, reasonably priced magnets?? Definitely a must do trip! My aunt and uncle have lives 5 minutes way since it opened and have thought about going but after our visit they're planning to take everyone! read more

We visited the farm with our baby on a hot, sunny day. Unfortunately, we only had 40 minutes to check out the park because we arrived before closing. The farm was really cool, easy to navigate and lots to check out. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. There's lots of shade with the amount of trees around. We spent most of our time in the kangaroo area but there were also sections with tropical birds, turtles and other wildlife. I think if it was a cooler day, we could have easily spent two hours there. The park had a food truck type concession area with lots of picnic benches and a family friendly restroom. I believe this is number 8 on the list of places to visit in BC. AND you won't be disappointed when you go. One thing to remember? Wear comfortable shoes. I took a friend there for Mother's Day. We had a beautiful day. My friend had never been there and was very excited to see all of the kangaroos, the wallabies and the different birds. All of the staff were very helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable. They answered all and any questions. There is handicap parking, but it is limited down through the gate. Parking is available across the road and along the street. Signs are up in local store parking lots that the spots there are for shoppers. They are not being rude, it is a small town with a lot of seniors and harder for some of them to park and walk some distance. The price of admission is VERY very reasonable to enjoy a great few hours of fun with your family. I hope you go and have fun. read more

So we were visiting out friends in Kelowna and were looking for something to do... Came across this gem - by the way, please read the website before you go (worth a laugh if nothing else) full of sarcarsm - http://kangaroocreekfarm.com/ - We brought our 2 dogs as we were travelling (it is pet friendly but you just cant bring them into the enclosures) - which is pretty cute. It runs on the honor system - donate admission and totally worth it - so much to see and do from parrots to peacocks to roos to a baby joey. So cute Couldn't help but feel a little bad when kids would swarm the roos but they were very well behaved. My friend Amy got to feed one with a baby roo in her pouch - too cute!! On the other side theres another enclosure you can visit full of little creatues your able to pet and run around with. Funny fact: So the family lives on site and they have a brown lab with this dinky chicken wire fence holding him in - the dog saw our 2 doggies and the dog kept trying to jump over. With every jump my husband would call out "hes going to make it.." and on jump 3 he did! Such a happy playful dog but it took the staff a full 10 minutes to notice - my husband just holding the lab and my holding our dogs (the bullys they are) - the girl said "oh that's our dog..." I used to love this place when it was a family run business. It's become extremely busy and the size of the farm has tripled since last summer! When I first came, the farm was by donation. There were 2 fields and tons of animals at your toes! They literally ran free!! Last year the cost went up to $5/ adult. Which I thought, yes! Charge people! Still a reasonable cost and worth every dollar.. This year we took our now toddlers and the cost was $10/adult The fields were swarming with tourists. Line ups for everything. There were more people than animals. And many were behind cages We didn't enjoy this trip around. I missed seeing the mother duck and her little chicks running across the fields. The farm is too high traffic for anything like that Lastly, there isn't even a bathroom. Porta-Pottys for all to use. Kinda disappointing with such a high admission fee. Next time, for our annual Kelowna trip, we'll be skipping the kangaroo farm and looking for something more interactive for the kids to enjoy! read more

We had simply the best experience visiting the farm during our last visit to Kelowna. They have set entry fees now, which are still pretty cheap when you consider other attractions fees across Canada and the fact they, like us, have bills to pay. Rule changes are apparent and are enforced. Check out the website to ensure you are following the rules and watching your kids at all times for the safety of the animals. Also note cash only. You are free to walk around and observe and at times touch the animals. It can be busy so try to go at non peak times, like first thing in the morning or the evening. They have a crazy line up of animals for you to check out and allow you to hold babies under the supervision of the staff. It's a great experience for the kids and we adults loved seeing close up kangaroos, wallabies, wallaroos and more. Highly recommend this experience. I have yet to make it to Australia so I've never met any kangaroos so I was quite excited to learn this place exists. They are technically breeders of kangaroos which I was unsure about but they have a very good homing process in my opinion. Easy to miss on the road but across the street from a grocery store and then down the hill via a drive way. There is no parking on the property for able bodied so you'll have to find street parking and hike it (a bit of a challenge) Their hours are very narrow. Only 10 - 2 on the day we went. Sound like they have an evening set of hours in the summer. The farm runs by donation they suggest a minimum of $5, a system that makes me uncomfortable honestly. I always wonder why it's donation - tax evasion? or simply insurance? The value is quite high though - they give you feed to feed animals ($2 to an exclusive $50ish behind the scenes to do this in many places) they allow you to hold baby joeys (again $20 or so c/w a 4x6 they take for you at other places), you can hold baby goats, sugar gliders, we bottle fed a giant red (again about $20+ to do something like that elsewhere). We saw a few other species (a few were new to me) and a freshly hatched duck or goose drying off in an incubator which was sweet. Overall you can't really beat $5 pp for a family outing. Mostly this place rocks and I love it but something really bothered me: I was checking out the sugar gliders and the guy holding them (the owner I think) told a 12-13 year old red haired girl "I don't allow red heads on my farm" and wouldn't give her a sugar glider. W.T.F? Maybe it's because I don't have red hair but I didn't know teasing red heads went beyond elementary school. I noticed him handing a glider to her later and her mom being right there with them looking stern and I"m not sure what the conversation was. The terrible thing, this isn't even isolated. I saw another post of a different website I can't name reviewing this place talking about telling a red haired autistic boy that red heads were evil. The management response says they talked to the employee and yet 9 months later he's at it again. I would still visit again and although we donated on the way in, I would have donated more on the way out considering the quality of the farm if I hadn't witnessed an adult staffer (potential owner) bully a child right before we left. Considering they have a reddish brown baby goat named fudgeo and a big red joey, I hope they treat red haired animals better than red haired children. read more
