Lots of interesting cars--the Batmobile, a Wankel motorcycle, a DeLorean, bunches of custom hot rods, etc. You don't need to be a car enthusiast to enjoy this museum. They introduce a new exhibit every quarter, so there's always something fresh to see.

They have a bar station where you can pour yourself a nice cold beer or wine to take with you as you tour the museum. Perfect pairing. The muscle cars, hot rods and custom cars were in immaculate condition. I appreciated the display signs in front of each car that gives a one paragraph history. The perfect summary size in my opinion. There's plenty of interactive displays throughout this museum. Touch Screen quizzes complete with visuals. Simulators: A welding, car painting and race car simulator were fun to check out. They had a Boy Scout PInewood Derby track that brought me back to my Junior High School days. There's tons of toy play stations throughout the museum that keeps the kids busy while the parents are exploring. I saw a coloring station, lego station and toy race tracks and garage complete with cars to play with. There was a mini-theater that had an informative muscle car movie playing and a library/reading area to relax and check out some car books. There was so much to see and do throughout this muscle car museum. It's absolutely social media friendly as well as educational. This is a definite must visit if you have the time while in Salina. This museum offered many interesting looks into the history of the county. The updated office with…read morean overly spunky young man as a tour guide added a sense of youth and revival to the importance of history on a local level. While the complex was scattered in five buildings, the fascinating artifacts and recreations of historic scenes. My only wish is I could've tried out the iron lung on display. And there was dog poop all over the front yard.

In addition to visiting the Grassroots Art Center and the Florence Deeble House today (see my…read morereview for the former), we also had the pleasure of visiting Eric Abraham's gallery/studio. We spoke to Eric for awhile - and not only is he a VERY talented artist (not self-taught), but he's also a very endearing person. Eric makes fantastic ceramic creations and they're all incredibly imaginative.

I enjoyed the industrial section related to flour mills. There are old stone grinding wheels and sacks from the different manufacturers. The gift shop is full of made in Kansas items, soap, honey, candles, marbles (news to me that marbles are made in Kansas) BBQ sauce and lots of books about Kansas. Yes, the embalmed body of the guy who built the Garden of Eden is on display in a glass-topped coffin. The entire place is bizarre and is built out of concrete. And the construction did not begin till the artist - an eccentric civil war vet with WILD political and religious ideas - was well into his 60s. The guided tour is nice and gives a good history about the place and the artist. Recommend visiting if you are in the Lucas/Wilson area. Weird. Delightfully weird.

While in Lucas, we stopped to see the Garden of Eden. This is a real kitschy, quirky place. This is the work of an eccentric artist whose house is made of concrete and who created all kinds (a lot of bibical) of concrete sculptures. He's been dead for over 90 years and is buried in a backyard mausoleum. Wierd. Not worth the 16-18 mile (one-way) detour from I-70. BUT, if you're in Lucas already, stop by.

Get ready to do some serious walking…read more This zoo is super clean, even the restrooms were spotless. They clearly care so much about the animals and park itself. Highly recommend getting the extra ticket for the tram ride. They give you a wrist band and you can hop on and off. The gentleman who was our tour guide was so sweet and made the ride fun. He knows the names of all the animals. We don't have rhinos at our zoo, so I was thrilled to see two here. Stop by and say to Carlos the Camel!! Quite affordable and your ticket and other purchases help fund the zoo which is really important.
