When I first spoke to Ted, he seemed like an awesome guy. Seemed willing to help and outgoing. After submitting our information, we had to reach out to Ted to follow up. Sometimes twice a day. Let me say that I submitted my documents on 01/09/2021 and it is now 01/25/2021 and still haven't heard back. After multiple follow ups, the last text message I received from Ted was on 01/15/2021 saying "I have you down to contact later this afternoon. I have a few meetings then will be finishing up on your file." I have yet to hear from Ted and on multiple occasions he said he would call but never did. If you're busy, I understand. If you need more time, I get it. But communication is important. More importantly, DO NOT over promise. Don't say you're going to call, when you aren't able too. We decided to move to another lender who answered our questions and pre-qualified us within 48-hrs. Again, the issue is the amount of time it's taking, the lack of communication, the over promising. I wish this business the best and hopefully can take this as some positive feedback. read more

The checklists these folks must run through to get loans approved are just nuts. Ted and his teammate Jennifer chased me around the West to gather and keep the data needed for me to buy my 3rd home. Hats off to them for making it happen. I actually changed from another Mortgage broker half way through my loan process to KAPPEL, as the other broker said to me one to many times, "You are not understanding me," to which I replied, "I do UNDERSTAND what you are saying, I just disagree with what you saying and these are two distinctly different things." While great service and adherence to timelines are a must, great communication skills are needed too. Chris's review is dead on. I purchased my home just over a year ago. My experience with them was so horrible. It took nearly 2 months to close and the whole time it was oh we will close by end of the week, then Friday would hit and would be early next week. It is always someone else fault on the delay. Our first appraisal took like 3 weeks, then a second had to be ordered and they got a non-FHA appraisal so then had to do a 3rd. The delay cost me nearly $2000 with vacation days taken for closing that didnt happen, I had a person ready to take my lease but they backed out when I had to pull back my 30 day notice and had to end up paying a break lease fee. I almost got bumped up .5% in interest because of the delays as well. Ultimately what I learned for the whole experience. DO NOT use a broker. All they are is a middle man who deals with the bank for you. If things go wrong they blame everyone else and suffer no consequences. read more

Always #1 with putting family first! Ted closed my first loan back in 1993, and has continued to amaze my wife and I through the years with his continued commitment to excellence with the best product and services in the industry! Crazy times happened to me as I went through a Chpt 13 due to a bad tax deal after selling my rental, which left me with a 5 year commitment with the IRS. (i.e. credit shot, no type of borrowing power, no refi, etc) Was a brutal 5 year as interest rates dropped to the low 3% range, but I could not take advantage! Fast forward to 2018, Ted & Jennifer was able to get me refied to a low 4.3% initially, this was 2 months after my Chpt 13, How Did He Do It?... No one else would touch me, I tried the lender that currently held my loan, thinking that since I had never missed a pymt, they would do a refi - Not! (WelsFargo). Then, when opportunity presented itself again, Ted hit me up, and said "it's time", and was able to refi 2 more times, until I reached the Crazy Low.... % range. All I can say is Thank God for the Kappel family! The Kappel family saved my life with how they've treated my family and I with ensuring we got the best in home refinance. If I could, I would give KMG Real Estate Finance negative stars. Our mortgage broker, Heather Henson, deceived us throughout the escrow process, leading to an awful home buying experience. When our loan fell through, our broker blamed it on a miscommunication with the Bank, when in reality she failed to submit paperwork in time. Our real estate agent was fed one story while we were given another, which resulted in a lot of confusion and frustration. We expected Heather and KMG to know the process and when our broker told us we would be approved we trusted her. We didn't expect this level of incompetence from a company that is supposed to be mortgage experts and we definitely didn't expect the level of dishonesty we received when things went wrong. So unless you're looking for a mortgage broker that is incredibly inept, STAY AWAY from this company. All they did for us was lose our home, squander our deposit, and provide the worst home-buying experience possible. Now we have no desire to become homeowners thanks to Heather Henson and KMG. read more
