Kappuccino's have recently inherited a really lovely shop front courtesy of the development grants awarded to the retail shops that line the top end stretch of Clifton Street where it meets Newport Road. Then they painted it China blue, and added the Coca Cola insignia along with the unmistakable undulating stripe that appears on all of the cans of Coke, both of which sit beneath their own branding... what were they thinking?
I'm unconvinced by Kappuccino's... it feels like there's something missing. The food is okay if you want a quick snack or a sugar hit, and the coffee is passable, (but is not a patch on the great coffee they sell at Le Fez a little further down the road). The prices are entirely affordable, and so it's definitely a cheaper option than a lot of the more exclusive kind of coffee shops, but... But it just doesn't seem to have much soul. There's no exciting buzz when you walk through the door, although it's not as bad as a motorway service station or a supermarket café... but then again, not a lot of things are quite that bad, but it doesn't make them good! I'm hard pressed to go to Kappuccino's when Le Fez is a couple of minutes walk up the road, and Milgi's is only about a ten minute brisk walk away! read more
