Watching the performers was delightful. Even with the air lines under the water it was amazing to watch. Just being able to keep your eyes open underwater was astounding to me. We even got an extra performance for the Memorial Day holiday with a tribute to our service members. After the show they had a mermaid photo op that was donation based. After the show, I explored the rest of the park. It isn't that large but was a nice area and worth the $13 to get in. They have an area for swimming in part of the springs. I didn't bring my swimsuit but there were many people swimming and having a good time. There are some water slides too. They have a great gift shop. Loved having the opportunity to visit and see an iconic spot for mermaid lovers!

We were late for the show, because the website failed to post times and were unreachable via phone, email, or the websites frequently asked questions. We caught the last 15 minutes of the show as it runs from 11-11:30, 1:30-2pm and 3-3:30pm. It's a relatively small park. The mermaid show is cute if you have children under the age of 10 years old. Otherwise, give it a miss. Admission is $13 ea a little less for kids. 4 of us cost about $42 for entrance fees. They have a water slide that was not operating. They have a small "nature " walk. They have a boat that was not running to look at nature and they have a 30 minute animal encounter educational experience with a ranger. She showed and talked about two kinds of turtles, a snake and a small alligator. Walking around they have photo ops to look like a mermaid and after the show you have a chance to photograph yourself with a live mermaid from the show. If you have $50- $100 your kid can have a "mermaid makeover". We were at the park for maybe 1.5 hours. I suppose if the boat was running and the water slide was operating one could spend up to 3 hours. It was an interesting experience. Once is enough.

And from the staff to the dock hands, to the quality of the vessel and cleanliness of the shop: 10/10. A guide handed us a laminated map (nice touch) and told us where to head for manatee sightings. And even pointed us to a cove that homes a lot of turtles and alligators. We saw it all! They have volunteers overseeing the 3 sisters springs, to help monitor the safety of the manatees (and scold ignorant people lol). Great time! If you're unsure, let me assure you.. just book.

This is a venue more than a business. Hudson Grotto is a dive site in Pasco County owned by Scuba…read moreWest. Please note: THIS IS NOT A REVIEW OF SCUBA WEST - ONLY THE DIVE SITE ITSELF. Hudson Grotto is a prehistoric limestone sink. It is brackish waters so, part fresh, part salt. There are several resident turtles and, though not seen during my visit, I understand that a barracuda also calls this site his home. If you are thinking this is a site where you can go and explore with crystal clear waters, you would be mistaken. Because of the make-up of the water and surrounding trees, the water is brown and visibility is only about 10 ft. That being said, it is an excellent location for training dives such as Stress and Rescue, Deep and Night/Limited visibility. Below 20 ft, you really need to have a flashlight. It gets very dark very quickly. The site has several things to explore, including a bus, statues and the limestone formations. This location is also very deep (beyond recreational limits) so be sure to only dive within your training and limitations. I will say that the site is very well maintained. There is a sheter with several picnic tables to put together your gear. There are no showers/bathroom but a port-a-potty is onsite. There is a dive shop across the street for you to check in and purchase that flashlight :) There is also a fire pit, if one wants to build a fire and cook some hotdogs. There are a few parking places inside the gate (4 or 5)- otherwise plan to park at the Scuba shop across the street or on the street itself. Overall, I gave the site a 3 star simply because of the visibility and the smell of my gear after getting out of the water which is no fault of anyone. It is truly a great place to do some advanced scuba classes.

Highly recommend the 6am tour as you get viewing time before it gets really busy. I really appreciate Birds Underwater as they do a great job educating you about the manatees and how to passively observe. Made the manatees more comfortable and as a result we got to have some amazing interactions with them.
