We really liked the chilled ambiance and the friendly staff. But a fine restaurant isn't only about good ambiance and fun staff. Before sounding like an old grandpa complaining, here are some reasons why your experience in the lake house might be different to ours: -Maybe the chef wasn't in a good mood that day. It was, after all, a gloomy rainy day. -Or maybe our expectations were too high after reading all the reviews here. -Or maybe because we came in a big-ish group (13 in total, an unlucky number too, some may believe). But the famous lake house didn't live up to my expectations for the following reasons: 1. The food simply took too long to arrive. We ordered by 1pm and food didn't arrive til almost an hour later. Granted that we weren't a small group, but the restaurant was half empty and it wasn't well communicated that it would take that long to cook. 2. The flavour was quite bland for most dishes. It was as if the pasta was left to boil for too long, and there wasn't enough salt to season the burgers. The dishes came out with inconsistent quality. Some dishes, like the fish and chips and chicken, were quite good; while others didn't live up to the premium price they charged. Hopefully your experience will be on par with the previous positive reviews.. I think we were just unlucky. Maybe the trick is to do the opposite of what we've done: go in a small group less than 13, have low expectations, and bribe the chef with some lollies. Good luck.

I don't really like chocolate and even I thought it looked awesome. One of the flavours was honeycomb too! Prices are pretty normal for Central Coast, NSW. $17.00 for a burger 18.00 for Pizza. I noted with the woodfire pizzas the cook time was on the long side, ~ 7 minutes. This was because the base is very thick and the toppings were piled on. Pizza is one of those dishes where less is more. That said, it was one of the better pizzas I have that suffers from this problem with a good balance of flavours. The burger was good and tasty, although they burnt the cheese which ruined it slightly, however the patty was beautifully seasoned and very tasty. The other foods were very yummy although the chips were a little on the bland side, I suspect the have been frozen. I would happily return for some of their other offerings.

SO glad we did! Everything was perfect.... the decor, atmosphere, service and that beautiful meal. We felt as if we'd stepped through a portal and straight into Old Italia itself! My vodka penne was to die for, and my companions adored their pizza and ragut. The tiramisu was the lightest I'd ever tasted. Even my macchiato was perfect, lacking that bitter bite you so often get. Gianna - and her warm, friendly, efficient staff - made sure we wanted for nothing all evening, and we were absolutely delighted with the experience. My only regret? We live in the Blue Mountains....too far away! But we'll DEFINITELY be back at the first opportunity. Fabulissima!!!
