Luckily what I wanted was in stock. They offer tax-free, but just make sure when you go to the airport to claim they actually accept it, as for some reason mine did not even though I know I received official global blue documents and I only found out when I went through security and all that to the actual redemption booth (FYI Istanbul airport does NOT make it easy to redeem tax-free shopping. You have to check in and visit 2 different counters and get in line with all the other tourists that thought it would be easy and actually show your items to them and then go through security and customs to redeem your refund at another counter and that's where you'll finally know what was accepted and what wasn't unless you inspect all your documents for stamps at the second counter.) The hours online say they're open on Sundays, but they're not. After shopping, stop off at the Cafe in the front lobby for a tea or coffee with a view :)

I thought needing a scarf would be a great excuse to find something lovely my mother would enjoy inheriting as a gift, so I went through their selection trying to decide which one she might like the most. The service was incredibly friendly and helpful, and their silk wares felt and looked beautiful. I ended up finding one with tulips on it, which I was told is the flower of Istanbul and the scarf itself is absolutely gorgeous. All in all I would highly recommend Tekin Acar if you're in the area and have someone who loves high end silk gifts.

Then, I bought a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind cross, laid in multi-colored sapphires. The gold cross making the base of this magnificent piece is carved by hand and when reversed makes a more simple, yet also stunning gold piece. Even the chain is hand made in gold. More recently I purchased a ruby heart pendant sprinkled with diamonds ( again set in gold). It too is one of a kind and spectacular. Again when reversed it becomes a simpler heart, yet still lovely. I mention this because I travel a lot. Having a piece with bling on one side and simplicity on the other, really gives you 2 pieces with each necklace. My bottom line: What a jeweler. What a wonderful store. She only makes each item, once, and you get to be the beneficiary of that lovely artistic trait. I am crazy about Tina and her designs and her boutique. I would never go to Istanbul without visiting her. Everything is expensive--and it is all for very good reasons--so I save up before my visits!

She said she trusted this business completely and purchased her own jewelry from here. There are many high-end pieces here and they had some hard-to-find and rare colored diamonds and stones in various sizes and gold settings. What I really liked is that they do instant re-sizes and added an extra clasping loop to the necklace to customize it for me at no extra charge and in only 15 minutes! My purchase came with a personalized card (think credit card) with my name and the info for my jewelry on it. Wonderful - will absolutely come here again on our next trip to Turkey for more beauties!
