Try to go early because it gets crowded quickly, but walk is nice and views are beatiful. Some movies filmed here, do your research beforehand to get that picture. This bridge connects old town to where thr castle is and we walked entirely from our hotel to the castle-it was long (trust me) but doable. It's a must see in Prague.

Definitely a must do when you're in Prague for sure. You got to cross it to feel the history of it and to see the statues though out the bridge on both sides, plus got to pretend to run fast but in slow motion like Ethan (or Tom Cruise) in MI, the movies. It just simple breath taken and a joy just to be crossing it. Plus I stayed nearby the castle so I have to cross at least 2-3X/day to go into the city. Go at sunset or before to see the tradition streetlight lighting, it's something to remember for sure

The Charles Bridge is Prague's specialty. You HAVE to walk it, that's the rule. King Charles IV built half the city so he got a bridge. He earned it. The bridge is ancient and full of statues that stare at you.

One of Prague's most famous landmarks, the Charles Bridge links Old Town and New Town over the Vltava River. The stone arch bridge structure standing today has its beginnings as the replacement for the Judith Bridge destroyed by flooding. Instigated during the rule of Charles IV, it was completed in 1407 after 50 years, constructed of sandstone blocks, with towers at each end--the Lesser Town Bridge Towers and Old Town Bridge Tower. It served an important purpose as a trade route between eastern and Western Europe since it was the only way to cross the Vltava River until the mid 1800s. Sculptures of the saints were added later between 1683 to 1928, though at this point most of the originals were either significantly damaged or transitioned to museums, and replicas made to stand in for them. These are part of a number of restoration and preservation efforts in the past hundred years after damage occurred due to floods and disrepair over time. Recommended for a sunrise or sunset walk or jog, it's almost certainly filled with people during most hours of the day. It's a short walk (516 meters) and only takes about 7-8 minutes to fully span the length of the bridge, though most people will probably stop along the way to check out the 30 statues lining the bridge, admire the view along the river, or take a moment for a photo op. It's hard not to linger for a while longer, watching the fiery colors of the evening sky reflected into the flittering indigo ripples of the water at dusk.

Awesome site with so much history! Walking across Charles Bridge felt like stepping back in time. Learned a lot about Charles himself and the stories carved into the bridge -- many of them tied to St. Vitus Cathedral and the castle. Super fascinating to see the details up close. I was also surprised (and excited!) to find out the original Mission Impossible was filmed here -- of course, I had to check out all the movie spots. Such a cool connection to the city. Tip: go early in the morning. The bridge gets packed later in the day, especially around the statue where everyone touches the hand for good luck. Definitely worth a visit when in Prague!

The Charles Bridge is to Prague as The Gateway Arch is to St. Louis. If you're going to visit the town, then you should get around to visiting this site. Better yet, pay to go up to a viewing point. Always crowded (except, they say, early morning) we visited at least three times to cross from one side to the other, view statuary, river, and people. The final visit, we paid to climb the Old Town Tower. It's worth the price.

Another must-see in Prague! Beautiful views. The Charles Bridge is a Medieval stone bridge that is just gorgeous to see. Pedestrian bridge, so no cars. Lots of statues and cool vendors line the bridge. I brought back many beautiful handmade art pieces & paintings from these artisans on the bridge. One of my favorite memories on this visit happened on this bridge - the super talented accordion player playing classical music - it sounded like a symphony.

The Charles Bridge is a medieval stone arch bridge that crosses the Vltava river in Prague, Czech Republic. Its construction started in 1357 under the auspices of King Charles IV, and finished in the early 15th century. A beautiful old bridge that swarms with tourists after 8am. I suggest getting there early for a great sunrise and very few people. Also great for pictures at sunset or at night as it is lit up. Definitely a must see when in Prague, just try and avoid the hordes of tourists.

Charles Bridge is a medieval stone arch bridge that crosses the Vltava river. Construction began in 1357 and was finished in 1402. The bridge is 1,693 ft long and 33 ft wide. Along the bridge are thirty statues- replicas of originals. We walked on the bridge while making our way from Prague Castle to Old Town. There are usually crowds of people on the bridge.

Karlův Most (aka Charles Bridge) is a must-see when visiting Prague! The stunning medieval architecture, incredible views of the Vltava River, and the statues lining the bridge make for a breath taking expierence! It's a perfect spot for photography and taking in the city's history. Even with the crowds, the charm and atmosphere are unforgettable. Highly recommend walking across and soaking in the rich culture of Prague. Whew chile! They just don't have architecture like this in the States.

Very cool Medieval bridge that is pedestrian with some cool statues of some important dead people, fictional and real. Be sure to see this early in the morning, before 10:00am or earlier, so you can actually take pictures of the bridge and enjoy the full beauty of it without the 1000s of tourists and dozens of annoying street vendors and amateur entertainers.

Many Lovely Strolls I Had Mornings, Afternoons, and, Evenings on This Medieval Bridge! Catching the breeze; watching the boats gliding on the Vltava River; bumping and smiling alike to locals and tourists; listening to street musicians; and, admiring one-by-one of the 30 statues and statuaries on this bridge! Sublime! CHEERS!

Compared to the Madrid Palance, Pražský hrad feels dusty. The Madrid Palace is opulent and had air purifiers in almost every room. All in all, I don't think you need to have a guide for Pražský hrad and I could see buying entrance tickets and being perfectly content with your choice.

Of course, that may be due to the enormous crowds of people we were dealing with the day we went, as well. But, no. Maybe we'd seen one too many suits of armor in London, or maybe we'd seen one too many pointy weapons in Edinburgh, but by the time we got here, my eyes kind of flitted right over the displays. I stopped long enough to admire the handy work - there were some incredibly detailed pieces, after all - but room after room of armor did not appeal to me. There was one room towards the back of the building that housed pieces of torture equipment, which I found strangely fascinating. And there are dioramas along the lane itself that give a good glimpse into how people lived and worked in the area. Those were probably my favorite part of the lane itself. Otherwise, the hallways are too narrow, the lanes are too congested, and the doorways into the dioramas are too small to allow for proper viewing. Plus, there's only one exit, and if it gets backed up (as it did when we were trying to exit, all because someone thought it'd be a good idea to put one of those "penny press" machines at the bottom of the stairs), you're likely to get stuck forever. Okay, I'm being melodramatic. But it does bottleneck at the one and only exit (stairs down), and that can be quite frustrating when one just wants to leave the grounds.

This tower was built in 1891, a 63.5 meter version of the Eiffel Tower, located centrally in Petrin Gardens which is a large park area directly south of the Prague Castle plateau (the closest section of the park being only 5 minutes away by foot). The tower itself is about a 30 minute walk from the castle, with some gentle slopes, not too steep. It's helpful to download G-maps in advance as cell signal can get weak in certain areas. There are also a number of different trails so better to be prepared and save yourself some extra wandering, though with the number of periodic signs and other visitors you shouldn't get too lost. If you're approaching the hill from the east, there's funicular that takes you uphill from the lower section of the city though when I was there this was under repair, (that might've been why the tower wasn't so crowded too?) Timed tickets are available to purchase in advance and this is recommended during peak tourist season. Prices vary depending if you purchase in-person or ascend the tower by stairs or elevator. 220CZK purchased at the tower in person, 290CZK for online ticket. 150CZK for use of the elevator. In mid-autumn on a weekday evening around 5:30pm the crowd was pretty thinned out (maybe bc the funicular was down). I think there were 2-3 parties in line when I purchased my ticket at the counter inside the entrance. Thankfully the staff was friendly and spoke much better English than I had any clue about Czech, the transaction was smooth, and up the stairs I went! The climb up wasn't bad, a mini workout of 299 steps with a good-sized middle platform to rest if you like and admire the views from an outdoor observation deck. The top level is an enclosed area with 360 degree views. Winding around the center of the tower is a double helix staircase; one staircase goes up, the other down. They're strict in enforcement. Also the stairs are partially covered though partially open to the elements so in the case of inclement weather be wary. Once you're on the middle and top decks, the views are stupendous! On a partially sunny late evening you could see for miiiles. Bathrooms are not located in the tower so if you need the closest ones are paid about 25CZK (€1), only exact change accepted.
