Eeeyikes!! I've been here a couple times before and the food is aight, nothing to write home about... However, on 7/25/26, the workers denied access to my medical alert service dog on my birthday weekend :( We were heartbroken. My partner and I tried kindly educating the workers that that is illegal and not right to deny us, but they would not budge and at the end, proceeded to pull something out of thin air and all of a sudden the cook has allergies (not a valid reason to deny as per the ADA law). Oh well, they lost out on a big order and no wonder the place was completely empty on a Saturday evening. Overall vibes were off. Karma is a very fitting name for this place i guess. Go to Masala Twist in Oxnard instead. Nearly twelve years later, and Karma still has no equal. We visited the buffet recently and it was, as always, a genuinely lovely experience. The vegan options were plentiful -- and more importantly, they were exceptional. The flavors were bold and intentional, layered in a way that reminds you why you fell in love with Indian cuisine in the first place. I say this with fresh context: we've recently tried a couple of other Indian restaurants in the area, hoping to find something worth revisiting. One served a Dal so overspiced it was nearly inedible. Another offered a Tikka Masala so bland it barely registered. Neither experience was terrible -- but both served as a reminder of just how high Karma's bar actually is. In all my years coming here, I have never once been disappointed. Not once. The kitchen cooks with something that's hard to put into words -- a care and intentionality that comes through in every dish. You taste it. My 2014 review said the food was prepared with good heart and spirit, and that remains as true today as it was then. Located in Janss Marketplace where Regal theater and plenty of retailers are located so there is plenty of parking available. I have been dining here for at least a decade. Traditional north Punjabi village style cuisine. Decor is also gorgeous to look at. Beautiful ornate decorations and paintings of India on the walls. I come here for dinner mostly. The taste of the food is exceptional. I always look forward to the delicious naan with dipping sauce. Chicken tikka (marinated boneless with garlic sauce) has the most softest meat with the correct ingredients used. Tandoori fish (boneless tandoor flavor with onions) is another favorite. Lots of tasty vegetarian meals too like the saffron rice and paneer tikka cottage cheese is a must order. Everything comes out pipping hot where servers wear a spiffy uniform. Feels like the great white glove service. Portions are huge so be prepared to take some home. Don't forget to order some wine with this yummy meal. We were back at Karma for Father's Day, and we just can't say enough good things about this place! The staff is wonderful--so kind!!--and the Indian food is the best we've had in the area. Tonight we had one of our new favorites--chicken Reshmi. Highly recommend! Everything was great--naan, roti, bindi, tikka masala, lamb bhuna, and both tandoori trays. One of the cleanest most beautiful restaurants I've ever sat in. I ordered Fish Madrasi mild to medium heat. Also ordered Paratha, Raita, Indian Iced Tea, Gulab Jamon and Malai Kulfi. Everything was delicious. The gentlemen working there are very polite and handsome. There is a lunch Buffett option as well. I'd like to come back and try more things. Organic spices used. Great food, atmosphere, and service. The staff were very accomodating and due to our party of 6, they were very patient when we were choosing which dishes to order. As a group of 6, we ordered: sakosa chaat, aloo tikki, shahi paneer, yellow daal, aloo mater, khoya paneer, and chicken korma with garlic, bullet, and onion naans. I came here today because I was in the Thousand Oaks area and my wife was craving Indian food. Compared to Indian buffets by me in Northridge and SFV area...Karma is way better. I especially liked the Bharta (Eggplant). The staff was very friendly...our water was topped off while we were eating and when I looked around...I noticed everyone in the restaurant seemed happy. This is the highest quality, authentic Indian cuisine offered anywhere. Even the buffet is high quality, high caliber, and high vibrational. The ingredients - the veggies and even the spices - are fresh and bursting with flavor ... but not too much spice and flavor. It isn't salty. It's extremely satisfying. OH MY Let me tell you i'm a hard critique. I'm very specific about how I want my chicken tikka masala and Mint chutney. I hate when it's sweet or the chutney doesn't have a zing to it but OMG they hit it on the head. It was so savory and had so many spices, shoot the even put in onions and peppers. I'm so happy to have found this place in close proximity to my house and will be back atleast once a week! Oh and let's not forget the inside of the place, it was very clean and quiet just how I like it. The two gentleman there were very helpful and kind. All around 10/10 I WILL be back! They are truly all around great people! DO NOT listen to any negative reviews...they have their own agenda! After over a decade having lived in the next county we returned to the area six years ago. Upon our return we desperately began looking for a good local Indian restaurant which became incredibly discouraging. Several absurdly overpriced "a la carte only" restaurants had us literally walk out the door before even sampling their food. Disappointedly, we had to accept that there were simply NO GOOD authentic Indian restaurants in the Conejo Valley area. Frustrated with the myriad of disappointments and desperate for an Indian meal we decided to try once again. This time we decided we would try Karma Indian Cuisine. And, are we so happy that we did! One thing to note was that years ago when we lived and ate in the area the Indian restaurants around here were incredibly underwhelming. So, it is incredibly good fortune to have found this place which is similar to the calibre of San Francisco's Gaylord Indian Restaurant from years ago. The food is delectable and Bobby, who pours his heart and soul into his establishment, will offer you excellent suggestions if you want to try something new or are in the mood for something that you don't normally order. And, their prices are fair. They will make modifications which some places seem not to want to do anymore. They will also reduce the "spicy palette" for those in your group who cannot tolerate spicy foods. Their lamb samosas are divine! We love the Yellow Dal Tadka and the Baingan Bhaji. I simply LOVE that this is one of only two places (in two counties) where I can order Malai Kofta and have it made with coconut milk as I now have a dairy allergy! For years I was deprived of my favourite dish as other places would only make it with cream. Their Tandoori dishes are a favourite in our house, as well. We also love their Madrasi Lamb, too. And, if you love lamb then THIS is a great place to come, too, as well. I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about Karma and staff. Excellent service! Such friendly and amazing staff! We were in the area and wanted Indian Food so Yelp naturally lead us to this spot and I am glad we came! The interior is such a nice ambiance with plenty of seating for small or large parties! We ordered the Vegetable Pakora along with Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan, 10/10! We ordered a to go for mix grilled, chicken Mughali, madrasi chicken and garlic naan. The sheek kebab and mixed grilled was just amazing. It was juicy and tasted really good. Wish we ordered more of the kebab. The Mughlai chicken curry, which was great in color was so delicious. We all just finished it in one go. The madras chicken, however was a disappointment It had too much coconut, and it just didn't feel right. Seen this place for decades and haven't had a chance to come to eat. They have a vast menu and it was hard to make a decision. I did the tandoori combo dinner, I wanted to see how each meat tasted. I think next time I'll get lamb or chicken, the kofta was interesting. The side dishes were good. They make their own paneer. Ordered 3 types of naan.. Tried their AYCE buffet on Sun. It was popular at opening hour. It was quick as we were in and out in 30 minutes. I would rate the heat at medium, with some mild options and some hot options. I'm not as familiar with N Indian cuisine, but what I enjoyed was the chicken do pyaza, tandoori chicken, saag. There were 2 other vegetables dishes I enjoyed. I passed on the 2 soups. I tried the chicken tikka masala and as always it's not my fav, even at other Indian places. There were 2 options of rice, and a fried platter of potato coins in a herbed batter, French fries and spring rolls. The buffet also came with naan bread. I skipped the cold bar containing salad and fruit, but I had the kheer (rice pudding), while my son had the mango pudding. Both were very sweet, typical of Indian desserts. I've driven by Karma many times and kept hearing by word of mouth that they had really good Indian food. I'm a sucker for good Indian food and was finally able to try them out for takeout. When reviewing take out I also note the quality of the packaging. 5/5 for portions and packaging. My order was securely wrapped up and everything made it into the bag. When dealing with a saucy meal I appreciate the double wrapping - plastic containers and then plastic wrap. You can count on your order getting to you safely when you order Karma. The sides and basics were good. Basmati rice was the same as anywhere but the garlic naan was 5/5. I normally don't get the garlic Naan as most places make it so overpowering on the garlic. Here the naan was perfection, super flavorful with a clear garlic kick but not overdone. Really great naan here. The Chicken Tikka Masala was 4.5/5. Really flavorful and creamy. There was almost a slight smokiness to the sauce that gave it great depth and taste. One of the better chicken tikka I've had in awhile. The chicken was white meat and juicy, good ratio of chicken to veggies. Would highly recommend this dish. On the other hand the Shrimp Madrasi was a 3/5. Probably a dish I can check off the list but wouldn't get again. The shrimp itself were fresh and cooked well. However, the sauce was little on the watery side. Not what I expected and almost too mild in flavor. I love a creamier sauce like the masala but this one didn't stand up being eaten side by side. All in all there is good Indian food to be had here. It also says a lot when you can give a place 4 stars based on take out because I'm a firm believer that foods always better fresh, eaten in the moment.
