Harry was just the kind of person you need in a crisis like this: calm, focused, and very very very good at what he does. Watching him auger the toilet felt like some sort of delicate, precise medical procedure. There is an art to knowing how to auger a toilet, and Harry is a master. 'Did she put the whole chicken down there?,' he asked, jokingly. Twenty-two seconds later, the dark pools had disappeared, and I saw the cleanest white porcelain imaginable. We had a backup at our house in Glendale and called Kassman Plumbing. They came out within an hour and a half, which is pretty good based on experience. We already knew from previous years that we had root problems in our clay drain so I already told them to bring the hydro jetter. Their price was very reasonable and we didn't even get charged an emergency fee what a lot of plumbers try to push on me to get their services done now. Joe and Harry came out and spent 2 hours trying to jet my drains but kept getting stuck. I admire the attempt to clear out my shit as they didnt need to do it for 2 hours but they really wanted to clear it out for us. Turns out we probably have an offset in our drain due to root issues and would need to spot repair and eventually change our drain to a new poly urethane pipe which would prevent roots from going in. They gave us a very reasonable estimate and was willing to put the hydro jet fee and credit the job of the drain replacement. Unfortunately, I got a few other quotes and someone beat them by just a little bit but was able to work one day ahead of them. Otherwise we would have chosen Kassman. They were very honest and professional till the end and said that was a better deal, so I respect that honesty. At the end of the day, these guys were easy to work with and pretty much straight shooters. Even though we didnt use them for our bigger job, I'd call them again for any issues. read more

Joe was the fourth plumber I called. My main drain was clogged & the first two plumbers were unable to clear it. They did not charge me anything. Manny from Magic Rooter recommended I call his friend Robert. That turned out to be a nightmare. I called Joseph for a second opinion. He was prompt & tried for several days to clear the line with no success. He was very detailed about what he was doing & pointed out several violations Robert's crew were guilty of. The problem wasn't in my drain. It was in the connection to the city sewer. He called Anthony who has the license to do the necessary work, which means getting a permit from the city. I am 80 years old and had been living with this for a couple of weeks. I was so tired of using a minimal amount of water each day. Joseph was so frustrated with his inability to help me. I noticed a smell of sewer gas and immediately worried that it was our sump pump which I paid another plumber $5k to replace a few years back. A contractor is doing some minor renovations and found a water pipe behind the drywall that needed to be moved. To not hold up the project, I frantically looked for a plumber.
