As an added bonus we were near the three country border of The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium (Kudos to us!!). Issues arose immediately upon arrival when after a long train ride the check in was a bit rude and abrupt. Meh chalk it up to a long day for the staff. Ask for a spa service guide in English and get a frown and a no sorry we don't. I could easily accept this if the hotel hadn't provided a beer menu and in room information in English. The most expensive thing I am going to have is a visit to the spa..c'mon..please? Found our way to the bar (as the lounge was closed..and never opened during our brief stay). Had a friendly bartender and a good selection of beers and a GREAT selection of scotches. The wait for a call from spa continued... We walked the lovely grounds and found our way to the spa to ask questions in person. Oh no we are booked all day tomorrow and closed Sunday sorry...so no spa visit (I agree short notice and slots fill up fast but still wife was NOT happy). Room was nice and large but the whole experience had left the two of us a tad grumpy. We decided to bail a day early and head back to Amsterdam. Figures breakfast was great and it was a sunny day for a train ride back north..

I love their staff they are so helpful and I love the concept of how nicely designed the hotel is. The rooms are minimalist but designed for people to socialize downstairs. From 2 story apartments to rooms that make you feel like your in a castle back in the 1400's. The pool at the spa here is very nice and relaxing. They have a running trail that takes you thru a field and Into the woods. Very beautiful and when your deep in the woods on the running trail you will find a bar that looks like Robin Hood and his merry men built. Lol. I could go on and on about this place. Put it on your bucket list cause this place is awesome!!!

The Château, as well as its surroundings are mesmerizing. I honestly think I would live here year round if I could afford it!!! Wonderful bistro, as well as a bar and chique restaurant are just a few steps away from the spacious, romantic, quiet, beautiful rooms. The swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms are definitely my favorite hangout spots besides the bistro. I recommend you book your massages or facials before you arrive, since they are popular "activities" over here. I can spend three nights in a row here without ever leaving the property and be as happy as.... a princess! Pro tip: Breakfast buffet with a view on the palace gardens. Worth every penny!!

This is a hotel , castle , and restaurant all wrapped in one. Located in the Netherlands this ideal location is perfect for weddings , wine tastings, and other events. From lush green gardens, to beautiful ponds its landscape is simply breathtaking. What more can one ask for? Inside the enterance is a resturant and cafe that is very european / french in flavor. I ordered the Latte Machiatto 2.60 euro with shot of liquor and whipped cream. It was smooth to taste and excellent. With the combination of hotel and resturant the romantik hotel is a great place to visit. Insider scoop: coming up in a few weeks the weekend of June 9 & 11 they have a culinair weekend with live music, food, and wine tasting. The enterance is $15 euro per person but if you want to eat and stay at the hotel they have a package $60 euro per person.

To be honest, my average rating is just because I am not such a fan of castle tourism, but I am sure it is a fine example, and is now a cultural centre for the Flemish community. There is also hostel style accommodation available, and wonderful grounds and fields to walk around, with the village of Bilzen (population 1000) a couple of kilometres away.
