I did not think that I would be visiting Steelworks, but it just so happened my friend was interested in getting his ears pierced. Naturally, tagging along, I was inspired to add a 3rd piercing to my ear. Being in business for 27 years, Marta and Santi have an impeccable business. All visits are by appointment only. The studio is extremely clean, organized and very inviting. It is well lit, and overall a well run business. Marta made both my friend and I very comfortable like it was her home. The pain for our piercings were minimal, but Marta was super patient, precise and very meticulous. After the process was complete, Marta was all smiles and super thankful for our business. We kept thinking, what other body art do we want the next time we visit Barcelona. As a native, Marta also recommended a wonderful restaurant in nearby Sitges! I call the shop the day of the appointment to confirm that credit card or Paypal will be accepted (coming from the US, I cannot easily withdraw over 200€ cash from a bank machine). This is how the conversation went (I do not know who spoke to me on the phone): "Hey, will you accept credit or Paypal?" - No, only cash. "I am sorry but I cannot get that much cash in Europe today." - Ok let me speak to my boss. ... - Did you leave a deposit? "No..." (I was never asked to leave a deposit) - Sorry Jota is really busy today and your appointment is now cancelled. Next time, when you come back to Barcelona, try to book 1-2 months in advance. He is really busy. End of conversation. I assume the actual issue was that I could not pay cash, but I am rating Siha Tattoo 1 star because I waited in anticipation for two weeks for an appointment that was suddenly cancelled and was told to "come back to Barcelona" later, as if this were a reasonable request. If the artist is too busy, the appointment should not be scheduled. Canceling a dinner date is trivial; canceling a tattoo appointment should be avoided at all costs, especially knowing the client will not come back to the country anytime soon. It is a huge blow to the psyche to mentally prepare for permanent alteration and be told on the scheduled day that it will not happen because the artist is "busy." Great artists here, I wish them the best.

It's right off Carrer d'Astúries, about a a block from Fontana on Torrent de l'Olla. No fuss, no glitz, no glamour, just a shop and quality work. The guys are helpful, speak English when you need them to, and price their service very respectably compared to other salons. The atmosphere is very clean and relaxing, and you're in-and-out without much of a hassle in a short amount of time.
