There was no ninja turtle or peanut brittle that I was looking for. Payed $15 + tax for 6 so it was $2.50 each.. And I must say they are good.. But you could get. A lot more chocolate at different place that are just as good. Around dallas and grapevine. But with that said if I got these as a gift I would be very happy. Absolutely impressive and beautiful! I bought a small box and filled it with these edible gems: Yuzu, Cookie Monster, Pistachio, Cherry Almond, Sweet Potato, and Ninja Turtle (the selection is the difficult part!). These are not meant to be popped in your mouth and eaten M&M's style, but eaten in a couple bites and savored in between. I shared them with someone who is not into sweets and he also appreciated them and had us stagger them out over several day's time to maximize enjoyment. Soo precious, mind you. I received a chocolate snow man as a gift that I can melt down into hot chocolate when I'm ready. You wouldn't know it was chocolate at first glance. I had a cookie and cream macaroon here. I tried 2 chocolate bars, the Tart Passion Fruit and the Milk Chocolate Stout. I loved the Passion Fruit Bar at first you get the rich chocolate which soon turns into a salty surprise because of the hazelnuts in the bar (which are whole hazelnuts) and then the sweet and tart passion fruit flavor explodes at the end leaving you with the most pleasant flavor in your mouth of delicious tart passion fruit. The Milk Chocolate Stout was good as well. First you get the strong taste of milk chocolate which mellows out into the deliciosu sea salt cookie that is a best surprise inside, It makes you feel like a kid again. I wasn't very daring on my first visit so I stuck to a traditional dark chocolate strawberry egg($6)... which was really amazing! Kate Weiser easily makes the most creative and unique chocolate in Dallas. I'm always on the hunt for interesting chocolates, even resorting to having them shipped in from other respected chocolate shops across the country (pretentious, I know, but I love surprising my wife with interesting chocolates), and Kate definitely holds her own on a national level. Her main specialty is bonbons (usually a hard chocolate shell that is hand painted and filled with delicious creams, jellies, nuts, etc.). First off, her chocolates are incredibly beautiful, and you can tell the level of craftsmanship that goes into each and every one. Secondly, each bonbon is a new explosion of delicious flavors that you can't wait to devour. I recommend the cherry almond, toasted coconut, yuzu, and red wine & berry to start. She also makes a variety of candy bars, most of which are hits (Kate-y Trail Bar), though there are one or two I don't care for (Milk and Cookies). And she makes a few seasonal bars that are usually quite good. There are a variety of chocolate nuts, caramels, and boozy chocolates as well. The macarons are always fresh and tasty too. I've only had her ice cream once and found it OK, but not great. Now that she's making it regularly, I need to give it another shot. Kate herself is very down-to-earth, and it was great to hear the story of her rise to greatness, including the (apparently scathing) review that gave her the dedication to create the excellent chocolates you see today. She has a great sense of creativity, as evidenced by the unique and sizable sculptures that sit atop the display case (giant chocolate cacti or chocolate armadillo, anyone?). She also makes holiday-themed creations, such as chocolate monsters for Halloween and candy-filled Christmas ornaments. We attended her first chocolate making class, and it was incredibly fun! We got to paint heart-shaped molds, run them under the tempering machine, fill them with jelly and gianduja, and finally cap them! Working the gianduja over the marble table was quite satisfying. We also hand-piped a set of caramels and rolled them in different colored paints to give them some flare. We walked out of there with enough chocolate to easily justify the relatively modest cost of the class ($60 then, now $75). She continues to experiment with different class experiences as well. Her scotch whiskey (whisky) tour was a lot of fun, and the chocolates paired perfectly. I have only recently started experimenting with scotch (and my wife doesn't care for it), and we still had a really great time. When compared with the other major chocolate shops in Dallas, Kate shines as a well-rounded favorite. Dude Sweet is a little more on the funky side, and you really have to sample their offerings before buying. CocoAndre is going for something different (they do classic chocolate truffles well, but their molded chocolates are plain and gaudy). And while Kate may have trained at Chocolate Secrets, I've always found their chocolates a little lacking in depth. I'd much rather have one of Kate's creations. read more

Bottom Line Up Front: this company is not willing to work with the customer to ensure customer satisfaction. I was so excited to come across Carl the Snowman. It was cute, one of Oprah's favorite things, and unique. I had the idea to give Carl as the gift at my husband's corporate holiday party. We always do a gift exchange but I decided to change it up and ordered 35 Carls to give away instead of different gifts. I reached out to Corporate Sales and found them easy to work with and responsive. Unfortunately they didn't offer a bulk discount, but excited about the uniqueness of the gift, I decided to go for it and spent a good sum of money to have the product shipped from TX to MD. It came very quick, but I decided to leave the chocolates boxed until the holiday party to avoid any damage during transport to the venue. Unfortunately as we were putting the chocolate on display at the gift table, 5 of the 35 snowmen were damaged and unpresentable. Due to the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, I did not get a chance to reach out to my POC to let them know of the damage until after Christmas, hoping for $200 of the $1600 spent refunded due to the mess that arrived. Again, these were gifts for my husband's employees so I didn't feel right giving them out as is. When I brought this to Kate Weiser's attention, they were not willing to work with me to make this right. I was very disappointed. It's not about the money spent because I can appreciate a good quality item when I see it, but this was a $38 hot chocolate snowman and I expected better out of the company and the product. It's honestly a blessing and a curse that I don't live closer to this store. Whenever I'm in the area, a quick stop to get a dozen truffles is an absolute must. The first time I visited was over a year ago during a small company team building event. Kate was our host (she's not only ridiculously talented but SO sweet and personable. Everyone loved her!) and had us sample some of her favorite truffles (along with some bubbly!). Then we split into teams and had a truffle making contest - this was so much fun!! It was pretty hilarious seeing some of the men in our group trying to tie dainty bows on the packaging. I went home that day with a dozen truffles and have been a fan ever since. Not only are the chocolates beautiful, they're amazingly rich, smooth, and decadent. You can tell Kate only uses quality chocolates. If you can manage to tear your eyes away from the case of beautiful truffles, they also have lots of other tasty sweet treats to try too. All other chocolates are dead to me. Done. Ok, in the interest of full disclosure, I'm seven months preggers with a bit of a sweet tooth, but I have always had a thing for fine chocolates. I've even been lucky enough to have gone to Belgium (everything anyone has ever said about the beer and chocolate there is truer than words can say). With all this in mind, I say that these babies are just epic. First off: obviously, they are wicked pretty. Duh. So often, however, very pretty chocolates are just mediocre in taste. Or are just disappointing. But wow. Not these. Each one really has been damn special. The lavender apricot may be my favorite (very unique) and the banana dulcey, too. The flavors are inventive and intensely satisfying. Just as obviously, these are not cheap! 15 count assorted box (which you can pick yourself or run in and get a pre-packaged one) is $35. So at a little over $2 each, yeah, kind steep, but I think that's fair for hand painted deliciousness. Godiva truffles are about $1.50 each, as are most fine chocolates/truffles. And those are perfectly tasty and respectable. But these are BETTER. So there. These are what you get for the ultimate in chocolates for a special occasion or for someone in your life who appreciates damn fine chocolates. (And more often than not, *no reason* is the best reason.) I'm going back to knock out xmas gifts for at least 2 people. I never knew chocolate could be so aesthetic AND delicious! We walked in and were mesmerized by Kate Weiser herself making candy behind the counter! She didn't mind that I was watching and taking photos the whole time. She even told us to come back in 5 minutes, and we could watch her "shake" all the candy out. Wow, this review is starting to sound a little inappropriate, but I swear it's all about chocolate. Anyway, we left the candy-maker and went to the cashier to place our orders. I got the French macaron ice cream sandwich, and my boyfriend got the hazelnut ice cream (passion fruit ice cream with candied hazelnut). My French mac was DELICIOUS! It has salted pistachio ice cream in the middle with a cherry in the center of the ice cream. It's a must try. I wasn't too fond of my boyfriend's hazelnut ice cream, as the passion fruit left a weird aftertaste. It could just be me though because I don't like fruits. So back to Kate -- it was really cool watching her make those chocolates! In the end, she even came over and gave us a free piece of the key lime pie chocolate. It was incredible! WOW. ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW!! This place has dessert so pretty, you debate if you should actually eat it! I came here about 2 months ago when I was in the area and got a 6 piece box. I took them home to share with the hubby and was immediately hooked!!!! I almost ordered them online, but since Dallas is so hot right now, the shipping overnight with dry ice was too much. So.... These chocolates have crazy flavors like mango habanero, truffle honey, ninja turtle, hazelnut latte, fresh mint, peanut brittle, banana dulcet, sweet potato, and lavender apricot! No doubt about it, this is beautiful chocolate. This is food as art. Every item in the impressive chocolate case is a delight for the eyes. Which is probably why it costs so much. This is not a place to come to stock up on candy to take home and munch while you watch Netflix. This is a place to buy a small box of carefully wrapped confections to give your mother on her birthday. And she will thank you, because not only are they beautiful, they are delicious! And they are unique! We tried three chocolates: the Truffle Honey, the Yuzu (dark chocolate with Japanese lime) and the Mango Habanero. They also have flavors like Buttery Popcorn, Caramelized Pineapple, and Sweet Potato. If I could I would try them all, but after tax we ended up paying $8.50 for our three chocolates, so needless to say, I cannot try them all. They also sell candy bars, toffee, macarons, coffee and hot chocolate, and in the summer months, ice cream. It's a beautiful shop with beautiful products, and certainly worth a visit. read more

On my way to dinner I passed by and caught a glimpse of a macaron in my peripheral vision and knew I'd be returning for a sweet smackeral after dinner. I walked in and was amazed by not only the staff's welcome, but the beautiful chocolate art! I ordered the coconut creme and the peanut butter chocolate candy and a five pack of the macarons to sample all the goodies I thought I'd like. The chocolates were nothing short of amazing! Not only are they delicious, they're beautiful! The macarons on the other hand, were just alright I'm my opinion. I had three salted caramels, one strawberry, and one cookies and cream. The consistency and flavor seemed a bit off. The cookies and cream was my favorite out of the bunch. Honestly, I didn't really expect the macarons to be everything... it's a chocolate shop so naturally they specialize in chocolate and boy do they! The chocolate flavors are very rich and creamy and are the perfect size to enjoy one maybe two at a time.
