I stayed with them for the last four years out of loyalty and comfort even after closing my business. I always felt the high fees were worth the "CPA level" of support. I was wrong. This year, the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) adjusted my refund down by over $$$ due to a withholding verification error. Despite this firm having all my W-2s and having filed the return themselves, my CPA's only advice was for me to "mail in the paperwork yourself" to contest it. After 10 years of loyal business, I expected them to at least draft the response or help me resolve a simple document mismatch that he should have been able to verify instantly.
