She was so sweet and helped me pick out what I wanted to order. The coffee was delicious and she even gave a cookie to my daughter.

This was my first time visiting Pleasant View Bakery after hearing great things from my neighbors…read more It's definitely a long drive, it made for a fun little field trip to rural WI, especially Amish country! When we arrived, we noticed a large parking area. The bakery is housed in a charming blue-and-white building. We didn't realize we could park right next to it, so we ended up parking farther away and walking about 3-4 minutes. Not a big deal, but since it was around 90°F that day, parking closer would have been nice! There's a small sign on the ground pointing to the bakery, and next to it is a lovely picnic area with a few tables and chairs. When we arrived, there was a small bucket with $.50 each zucchini and a beautiful garden nearby. About 20 people were ahead of us in queue but the line moved quickly--we waited roughly 20 minutes. The bakery itself is inside a small house. As you enter, shelves of fresh bread loaves line the right side, while jams and other pickled items are displayed on the left. The register is straight ahead, and behind it is the kitchen where we saw women braiding dough for pretzels--made fresh on-site! The pretzels are huge and cost $3.50 each. We bought one, and it was soft, chewy, and delicious. They also offer an assortment of baked goods like fruit pies (individual and full-size), cinnamon rolls, caramel rolls, and more. The cinnamon rolls are what they're known for, so we grabbed a couple, and my husband really enjoyed his. Near the register, they also sell day-old pastries at a discount, which is a great way to sample more items. One thing to note: they do not accept credit cards--cash only. As an Amish bakery, there's no electricity, so the space is naturally lit and a bit dim inside, but surprisingly not too hot even without air conditioning. Overall, it was a lovely experience. The baked goods were tasty, the setting was peaceful, and the atmosphere felt authentic and welcoming. We'd definitely stop by again if we're in the area.

Honestly the parking is sufficient. We have been going to this bakery since 2006! 19 years of tradition to go to one of the best fresh made, that morning, bakery. Solid ingredients as they don't have electricity and you can watch them loading wood in the ovens in the kitchen. If you hear music it is not a radio, they are singing as they kneed dough and prepare all the breads, cinnamon rolls, banana bars, donuts, cinnamon bread, apple pies and much more. It is tight quarters as it is in the basement of a home. One way in and the same way out. It helps if you bring in your own bag and pay in cash. They do NOT take CC. Again, no electricity. One of the best Amish bakeries and worth it all. For an added treat when you are driving away, make a left turn and go onto the main road and then make a right and hit the grocery store where you will find amazing produce and herbs and lots of fun food items! Don't let the horses that are waiting there. They are working! Again, no electricity so cash only. Enjoy!

Got two salads within two minutes. Before I took my first bite, the waitress brought two turkey specials with sides of rolls and cranberry sauce, and the check, then walked off. She said sorry, the kitchen is working fast. There were two other couples in the entire restaurant. She could have at least held the ticket until we were done with our salads. Five minutes later, she asked what we wanted for dessert. Now I'm pissed - why the rush when no one is here? The dinner was subpar: turkey was okay, one piece of sweet potato, a golf ball-sized scoop of mashed potatoes, the same for stuffing, green beans cooked right with a little snap, but half of them had stems connected, and some sort of stalk from the plant. The cook wasn't very observant. I wasn't enjoying this. She had already dropped off to-go containers and two desserts in to-go containers. Went to pay, waited for her to ask how everything was, but she didn't, so I brought it up. I told her in the past I was given more time to eat when I ordered a hamburger there. I looked at the clock on the wall - 12:17 - and I'm ready to go out the door. She said, 'Yeah, that's good, right?' I said, 'No, I would have liked a relaxing Thanksgiving meal that I could enjoy.' Her reply was, 'Oh well, have a nice day.' I wasn't expecting that. I walked out and got back home at 12:30, just 2 1/2 blocks away. $42.96 in one half hour. Service spotty, been there at times no problem then the next time it's not good

Mauston Park Oasis Restaurant & Bakery - An o.k. average run-of the mill chicken fried steak. Not bad, but needed salt and black pepper to wake it up.
