in the beginning I thought she was great,, however she ultimately put my life in serious jeopardy when I had intolerable side affects from a new bp med, (been on bp meds for 20 years), and she told me to abruptly stop the med for at least a week to see if the side affects were coming from that new med. I was shocked and against my better judgement, I "listened to the doctor" . It landed me in the hospital with extremely high blood pressure and the ER docs were afraid I was going to have a stoke or heart attack. they changed my medication in the hospital but here I am over 2 months later with now still uncontrolled BP , and having to change it again. My blood pressure aside from the side affects was completely controlled prior to her instructions. It could have been a grave mistake for me on her part about the instructions she gave me .. I used to go to a doctor in Ormond Beach where it didn't matter how sick you were, or what day you had an appointment, they were always overbooked and you always sat in the waiting room for no less then 45 minutes. When we moved to Edgewater I gladly went on the search for a new doctor and thankfully I found Kathryn Malan!!! What a refreshing change. Dr Malan's receptionist set up an appointment for me and that was the beginning of my years of exellent care from K.M. and her very capable team. I have read the other reviews and am SHOCKED that they are talking about the same doctor, as the care and service I have received has been nothing short of outstanding. Kathryn Malan is young and on top of all of the latest reaserch, studies, and drugs and if you ask her something that she is not sure about she will do the reseach to find the answer for you. In fact, she has been so thorough and kind with me, (as has her staff,) that my husband changed from his doctor over to Dr Malan and he thinks she's great. And my 90 year old mother wanted to change over to her care as well, and mom adores her! In addition I have recommended 3 of my friends to her who love her and have also recommended her to others. This past year has been so hard for so many of us and emotions are running high. Sometimes when you are curt with someone, they will respond in kind. Situations can go from bad to worse quickly, but these reviews don't sound at all like the amazing doctor's office that I have been going to for years. Doctor Malan is so smart, kind, funny, understanding, empathetic, and absolutely knows her stuff! Her team is efficient and super great. If you need to change your doctor you should give her a try and I promise you will not be disappointed. My 84 year old mother contacted me on July 24 via phone on the verge of tears because Krysta, receptionist, said my mother wasn't going to be seen by Dr Malan until a bill had been paid. (bill allegedly sent out only 6 days prior). She did not let my mother use a phone to contact my father, she failed to offer to call my father on behalf of my mother. My mother went back to her car to access her cell phone, and she called me. She was so upset that she had forgotten her own home number. I called the office and spoke with Krysta who was condescending from the beginning to me. (She has a history of being snippy, I understand) I asked to speak with the office manager. After being on hold for a long time, I was told the manager would call me back. I opted to go to the office instead to help my mother. Upon my arrival, I waited at the window for several minutes. I wanted to know why my mother wasn't being seen, and assumed that the other woman who came to the window with Krysta was the manager. I asked to speak with Dr Malan, the other woman angrily stated, 'I'm doctor Malan". She raised her voice towards me, used a condescending hand gesture towards me. She chose defending an employee rather than caring for my mother. She claimed to have heard my conversation with Krysta on the phone but my mother saw the Dr standing in the hallway. She was not on the phone listening in. Very unprofessional. She then tried to explain that Krysta would face consequences (get "dinged") from Advent Health if she didn't collect the money (which wasn't even overdue). I said that is an issue between AH and it's employees, and not my mother's issue. Dr Malan and Advent Health place money above patient care. Since this seems to be the way the office is run, then Krysta should have immediately contacted the office manager to get approval for my mother to have been seen. Dr Malan should have been the one to calm everything down, but she made it worse with her tone, words and hand gestures. First impressions mean a lot. My first impression was very poor. And please remove all of your photos of Jesus for you do not "extend the healing ministry of Christ". read more

Dr. Malan is excellent however her office staff is horrible they do not know how to communicate they are extremely combative they do not answer the phone when they do answer the phone it's all about what you can do for them and not what they can do for you you must Bend to their convenience if not they will hang up on you or worse they will tell dr. Malan that they had a problem with you that you caused, the customer and the office staff will generate a letter stating that dr. Malin is going to drop you as a patient which is what happened to me over a scheduling disagreement with their office staff I do not believe dr. Malan has any knowledge of this whatsoever by the way if you ask to have doctor call you or if you ask to speak to her you're not allowed so don't think it's going to be a relationship with a doctor where you can call them if you have a problem and speak directly to the doctor that will never happen the office staff feels they are some sort of Guardians of her and that she's not able to speak with you on the phone so if you don't mind being treated this way have her as a doctor again I have nothing bad to say about doctor malan herself but she does choose and hire her office staff and they are simply the worst people you will ever encounter starting with the office manager read more

Dr. Malans office staff is in a word horrible they are rude they do not return phone calls they show the exact opposite of care. I think dr. Mailan is a fine Doctor however as most everybody knows about 70% of your involvement with a doctor's office is with the staff and they could care less about you in my humble opinion the first rule of a doctor's office staff is to exude care and understanding and a willingness to communicate with patients I had a disagreement with the office staff regarding an appointment that I waited several months for and they were all too happy to send me a letter telling me that my business was no longer needed and they basically fired me as a customer of dr. Malan the funny thing is I do not believe dr. Malan even knows that her staff did this I believe they took it upon themselves to do what they did dr. Malan should take some time to investigate her own office staff and see how they are treating her patients I think that she would be very upset read more
