History

Established in 2002.

Starting in Helen, GA, Daniel "Katmandew" Lasris was painting faces on the street for tips developing his skills. Moving from one place to another, he finally ended up in Abingdon, VA where he was Youth Coordinator and 2nd Vice President of the Virginia Highlands Festival back in 2011. He moved to Bristol, VA and gave up his responsibilities with the VHF to work on his own business and develop it. In 2016, he moved New Port Richey, FL. In 2020, he closed his business due to the pandemic. In 2024, he moved to Columbia, SC where he has reopened his business! In 2025, he moved to Otto, NC!

Meet the Business Owner: Daniel L.

Born in Tampa, FL back in 1977, he has always had a love of face & body art. Sneaking around and using his mom's makeup to hone his skills, he frequently got in trouble. He graduated in 1995 from Tampa Bay Voc-Tech High School and immediately joined the ARMY. While in the military, he was able to hone his skills further by volunteering to apply the wound makeup (moulage) for the medics to train on in field training exercises. When he got out of the military, he rummaged around from job to job, but not doing what he really wanted until he met his former business partner, Aline Backes, in Helen, GA where she asked him why he was not doing what he loved. He quickly realized the potential in his art and became who he is now. Loving what he does, he never backs down from a challenge and tries to exceed all expectations as he moves forward in his field of expertise!
