This place has been around for years and it's actually been years since I've been back. We came for our daughters birthday. Reservations are a must. It is AYCE but you are a limited to a certain amount at a time in order not to waste. Everything we ate was delicious and brought out in an appropriate amount of time. My favorite is the Hamachi. The hand rolls were just OK. I thought I would've loved the scallop thinking there were big pieces but it is not. The restaurant is super small inside so be prepared to be really close to the next table. It was actually so close that I knocked down my full glass of water which spilled over onto the guy's foot next to me. Parking is in the back which you pay for via your phone.

Fresh, quick, high quality--will always, always make it a point to visit this spot when I head over to Oahu.

Kats is a simple but solid choice for a reasonably priced AYCE sushi spot on Oahu. We always make a reservation because it's a small spot, but it's worth that extra step. There are only 2 sushi chef's working so if it's busy it may take a little while, but relax and enjoy these tasty bites. The balance of fish to rice is great-not too much rice so I feel I get a bang for my buck.

The sushi is delicious! I did see a lunch menu so I'll be back to try the plate lunches. If they are as good as the sushi it will be great. The service here is excellent. They anticipated when we would want to order. Kept the water cups filled and always had a smile. You can't ask for more. It can get loud depending on the crowd and reservations are recommended. I'll be back soon. Boo food pictures. I was hungry

One of the few AYCE sushi spots in Oahu that is economical, Kats Sushi never disappoints. At $32.99, you can eat unagi and ikura which are high value items limited at other AYCE options in California. We ordered plenty and left feeling satisfied! Make sure to call ahead as reservations get booked out fast. Amazing place, hope I can eat there again soon.

Great AYCE sushi spot! Definitely recommend making a reservation especially if you're coming with a party of 4 or more. Me and my friends (5 total) came for dinner and were still accommodated on their outside seating. It's a very small space but still so worth ut Our server, Maya, was great! She helped us choose what rolls to get and she was fun to talk to. We're definitely coming back!

These are one of the reviews. I hate to write. This is a place I've been coming to the past couple years. It's been a staple for what I'm craving sushi but recently my orders have been getting smaller and smaller. I normally order the same items and when I'm done I'm normally full but recently everything is like the size of my thumb. I don't even have big thumbs the sushi is just that small. still taste great though.

AYCE sushi? Always count me in! Small sushi spot so make reservations! They can get pretty busy. The servers are tentative and service was fast.

It was my cousins birthday last night and his girlfriend chose this place to host a rather large surprise party. Since inside seats maybe 10 people, they placed us outside with some conjoined plastic outdoor tables. My family is notorious for being late but the servers said we weren't allowed to order until everyone arrived. About 5 mins in and it starts raining. And we are FULLY EXPOSED. No cover of anything, our shoyu and ginger getting drenched in rain. They pull the outdoor cover but it only covered the tables next to us, and we continue getting rained on. After the other tables empty up they finally move us over. They do eventually retract the cover and part of our table gets rained on again later on lol. Anyway, the rest of our party finally arrives and we get to order, except not really because there's a mandatory first platter of sushi we get served with salmon, hamachi, tai, unagi, and ahi nigiri. Roughly 50 pieces of sushi per 6-8 people. I will say, it was pretty good, but not what I wanted LOL. The unagi and hamachi were the best things in that first platter. Every order after that is limited to 5 different types of sushi per table, unlimited amount for those 5 choices.Ex, for our first order we got 2 natto, 4 cucumber rolls , 5 Cali rolls, 2 ume rolls, and 5 orders of ebi nigiri (1 order of nigiri is 2 pieces). Sitting in a group where everyone wants different things is STRESSFUL in this situation. 2 of the people at our table don't eat fish, my grandma was the only one that wanted natto, my cousin, fiance and I were the only ones that wanted spicy stuff. and my grandma is sitting closest to the waitress so she's ordering all her own stuff rogue and taking up all the slots so no one else is getting food! After 3 rounds of orders my aunty tries to request to switch to Ala carts because she "only ate 3 things" but of course she can't do that cuz... well duh. I really commend the waitress for being so accommodating to our crazy family lol. All in all, the rolls were really good (the spicy masago and salmon skin were my favorites) and you definitely get your money's worth! Also, you can make small modifications to your orders too (i.e. if you want it spicy or with cucumber or oshinko). It's 32.95 per person for dinner, or you can order Ala Carte ( I think they were around $3-7 per pc?) it's byob and they also have lunch plates available! Maybe don't go with the whole family though.

My favorite sushi and handroll place on island!! Been coming here for 3 years, and everyone is beyond respectful and food is delicious, with the restaurant always being clean and fast service. Such a rare great deal for AYCE and BOYB :) Perfect place for date night out or birthday party. Much love to Kats Sushi

Do they also serve made to order grilled or tempura/fried dishes for dinner?

    No. Only sushi

Has anyone had an experience with take out? I work near by and I always see this place deserted.

Take out is available, but not the AYCE.

What is included in with the AYCE? Are the nigiri and hand rolls the only items offered with the AYCE?

Aloha, the AYCE comes with nigiri and hand rolls. If you'd like to order sashimi, it will be an extra charge.

How does ordering ala cart work for dinner dine in? Does everyone have to do AYCE or can some do ala cart?

Aloha Carrie ~ I believe you can order ala carte, but not 100% sure, try calling 808-526-1268 and confirming if ala carte is an option. The AYCE is alot after a certain point. But none the less our party enjoyed the AYCE and at a great price.

How much is it per person?

    $32.95 per person

Is the AYCE only offered during dinner? I noticed the bentos and other dishes says take out only.

Yes. I not sure about weekends. but weekdays is dinner only. Reservations are highly recommended. Even for a party of one.

Do they serve alcohol or is it BYOB?

    You can BYOB.

Do they still use a lot of rice in thier ayce? Can we request less rice or order sashimi?

You can order sashimi and pay ala carte. I don't think the amount of rice in their nigiri is disproportional.

Is kats sushi open tomorrow or on holidays?

Does Kats still do AYCE sushi for lunch?

    No, only dinner. (March 2022)

How much is the buffet (lunch & dinner)?

The dinner is just under $30 per person.

Is sashimi available a la carte?

From my understanding Kats is strictly sushi. I do not recall seeing sashimi. However, I don't think it hurts to ask.

Is there all you can eat?

    Yes. It's just under $30 :)

I've been trying to call to make a reservation but the calls don't go through? Is the number wrong?

No, the number on Yelp is correct! You just have to catch them at a good time - I try to get them at the start of the lunch or dinner shifts since there's usually less people and not as busy. Remember - they're a really small staff running around to… Read more

How many days/weeks in advance do they take reservations?

I have called the same day and couple weeks in advance. Best to have reservations. It gets busy now.

Is this restaurant open as of today for dine-in AYCE?

    Yes it is.

Does this place serve alcohol? Or is this place BYOB?

    BYOB

    Is delivery available?

    I don't think so

    How much for ayce?

    About $29 I believe

Can I reserve for AYCE if I have moderate sized group?

Yes. And on Friday/Saturday nights you should reserve regardless of party size.

And then there are meals that rock your world. This was one of them. Kaiten sushi, or conveyor belt sushi, is a casual, affordable Japanese dining style invented in 1958 where plates of sushi rotate on a motorized belt passing diners, allowing them to select dishes directly. Here at Kaiten Sushi Ginza Onodera, it's not the typical catwalk of pre-made maki rolls, nigiri, and other offering. You order off a kiosk and then it is fast-tracked to your table via sushi belt. Here at Kaiten Sushi Ginza Onodera, you are granted the ability to try their Edomae-style sushi for a more affordable price. Edomae-style sushi is a traditional Tokyo cuisine originating in the 1820s, featuring seafood, often cured, marinated, or simmered, served atop rice seasoned with red vinegar (akasu). Most of the nigiri orders were only one at the price point I am used to paying for two and I prefer the experience of sharing. My husband at the other table sampled more than I did. Deep fried Octopus and Toro, I had Yellow Tail and Carpacio, sample two rolls. Big surprise, the French fries were outstanding. Cold, clean, glistening with that dangerous little shimmer that tells you somebody in the supply chain actually cared. You can taste the quality immediately. The kind of quality that silences a table for half a second. And credit where it is due: almost everything I tried ranged from very good to genuinely great. But then the room begins speaking. And suddenly the spell breaks. The atmosphere feels like someone took a serious sushi counter, stripped away all sensuality, all elegance, all ritual, then dropped it inside a fluorescent island diner where exhausted civilians came to discuss parking validation and Costco receipts. It is the culinary equivalent of wearing a Rolex with orthopedic sneakers. The contradiction never stops humming beneath the experience. You sit there eating beautiful fish while surrounded by an energy that feels strangely... transactional. Heavy. Casual in the least flattering way. A room with no mystery. No seduction. No gravity. Like Zippy's accidentally wandered into the tuna trade and struck gold. And on an island like Oahu, where atmosphere matters almost as much as the fish itself that becomes a real problem. Because sushi is not merely consumption. It is theater.Restraint.Texture.Whispered precision. The best sushi spots on Oahu understand this instinctively. They understand that exceptional fish alone is not enough. You are paying for transportive experience. For mood. For elegance. For the feeling that the evening exists slightly outside ordinary life. At Mitch's, the fish reaches for Tokyo while the room drags you back toward a tired strip mall off the freeway. And then there's the crowd. Not evil people. Not rude people. Just an oddly low-rent energy orbiting genuinely premium seafood. The kind of room where one table is eating remarkable otoro while another feels one argument away from discussing used-car financing over soy sauce packets. It creates dissonance. Especially considering the prices. Because at those prices, you begin comparing the full experience not merely the fish quality and that is where Mitch's stumbles hard. There are multiple sushi spots across Oahu that equal or surpass the seafood while also delivering beauty, atmosphere, intimacy, and actual emotional texture. So what remains is this strange contradiction: Mitch's serves fish far above the dignity of its own ambience Which almost makes it fascinating. Would I be back - no . You can get same and better quality fish, much better vine, better part of town for the same Price.

Spicy dynamite cake was not too spicy, but had layers of rice, avocado, and spicy Ahi with sauce, and Nori wrappers on the side. Chicken skewers you can order them individually, in a set of three or five and we opted for three. Service was very friendly and attentive. We finished everything. The three items we ordered the cost was $60, adding tip and tax was around $75. The restaurant is very small. Seating only at the bar hence in the restaurant name. Definitely would like to come back and try some of the other options.

I'm not sure when they added ramen but my neighbor's bowl looked pretty solid. A few other menu tweaks and additions since they opened and a nice technology improvement which now allows you to order the sushi temaki sets through the app. Something for everyone here now. Free parking in all the nearby structures. I kinda love coming to this spot and this micro-neighborhood within the new Kakaako.

There were standouts and overall we loved the meal. A local id gets the 10% service fee removed which was nice. I would recommend the $150 lunch omakase - I don't think the $50 abalone dish was worth the upgrade.

Every piece of sushi was beautifully presented not overwhelming. You can really tell the chefs put a lot of thought into the balance of flavors and textures. One of my favorite bites was a sashimi piece topped with something that looked like finely grated cheese (not sure what it actually was), but it melted perfectly with the fish and added a really unique savory flavor. The chefs and staff also had a good sense of humor. At one point they served kinki fish and jokingly explained that the English translation sometimes gets called "idiot fish," which got everyone laughing at the counter. The omakase is definitely on the pricier side, but the quality, presentation, and overall experience made it very satisfying. If you're looking for a refined sushi experience with great service and beautifully crafted bites, this place is worth the splurge.
