My fiance and I booked a last minute hike (literally the day before) with Jeremiah on arguably Kauai's most challenging hike which can be completed in a day. Not only was Jeremiah very responsive and honest about the difficulty of the hike, but he told us up front, that if we were not in tip top shape, then it may not be worth taking on the challenge. He could have just booked the hike and taken our money regardless of our skill level. But he was instead very concerned about whether or not we would have a good time. This beautiful out and back hike (which I will not name in an attempt to keep it a secret) took a total of 11 hours, including 1.5 hours of pictures, lunch, and hanging out at it's destination. I cannot put into words how amazing and beautiful the island of Kauai is, and this hike is no exception. The collection of waterfalls tumbling down a cliff thousands of feet tall is something I have never seen before. I am an avid hiker, mountaineer, and backpacker, and can easily say this is the most beautiful place I've ever been. The hike was tough, slow going, and even treacherous at times (had to climb up a rushing waterfall), and even requires special footwear to complete it. Jeremiah knew the route very well, and kept us on track the entire time. I would NOT recommend doing this hike without a person who very confidently knows the route. Most of it is unmarked, and entails bushwhacking through the jungle, walking up the river in knee to waist deep water, and constantly needing to monitor the possibility of a flash flood that can easily trap you and force you to wait it out. This may sound like a nightmare, and the approach in some ways is a bit nightmarish, but the areas is breathtaking, and the destination is a sacred "wall" that simply cannot be described by words. The experience we had with Jeremiah and Kauai'i Hiking Tours was fantastic. When I started to consider the different tours, I had a lot of questions and I received quick, professional answers and guidance on what might be the best hike for our interests and abilities. I was concerned that a 4-mile hike might not be enough for us since we hike much further distances at home. Jeremiah convinced me that the hike would be satisfying and beautiful and would feel like much more than just 4 miles. He was right on target and the hike did not disappoint! When we are in unfamiliar locations on vacation, we can usually find suitable hikes on our own, so some questioned why we wanted a guide. The simple answer is that we did not want to stress about where we were headed, what the terrain would be or whether we would be safe. Kauai 'i Hiking Tours removed all those worries and we were able to enjoy the hike. They provided advice and equipment as needed. We were joined by a newlywed couple and we all got along great. Jeremiah gave us historical information about the area that we probably would not have discovered on our own. If you're on Yelp searching for a one of a kind hiking tour...you can stop looking now, because you've found it. My wife and I went to Kauai for our honeymoon and hired Kauai Hiking Tours to view the Napali Coastline. I had extremely high expectations for this hike after reading the other rave reviews. I'm happy to report that Jeremiah and Kauai Hiking Tours knocked it out of the park. The tour included me, my wife, and Jeremiah..that's it. This one-on-one experience allowed us to ask questions and learn most anything we wanted to know along the way. Plus, it's just cool to have your own guide providing you with bits of information about the history of the area and the surrounding plants and wildlife all while taking in breathtaking views of the Waimea Canyon and the Napali Coast. It wasn't surprising to learn that Jeremiah has been living in Kauai for some time because it was clear that he knows the area extremely well. Furthermore, Jeremiah as a person could not have been more easy to talk to and get along with from start to finish. He even ate with us at a local foodtruck nearby called Porky's when we finished (highly recommend by the way). My first thought of a Hawaiian trip is to chill at the beach but the group wanted to hike so we went hiking with Jeremiah and Wes as a party of 15. We were all of different athletic abilities and ages. I was the slowest because 1) I wanted to take pics of everything and take in the scenery and 2) because I'm slow. :) Pretty sure I made the tour an hour longer than it should have been but, if Jeremiah ever lost patience with me, he never showed it, not even once. He was so knowledgeable about the vegetation and local history and such a cool dude. I was impressed with his preparedness. He carried a first aid kit and lent hiking poles to those with not so great shoes for traction. Bonus: At the half way point he fed us a variety of fresh local fruits. My only word of warning would be to wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty. We went during the rainy season of October and, although we had good weather, it was still pretty muddy. That Hawaiian mud is no joke but most of it came out without staining. Although hiking may not have been my first pick, I am so glad we did it and super glad it was with the expert guidance of Kauai Hiking Tours. It's one of my favorite memories of the trip now. Hiring a hiking guide isn't something I normally would do... I'm an avid hiker and have decent experience packing in the backcountry. I was recommended by a friend to check out Kauai Hiking Tours during my stay on the island and I am so happy I decided to book a trek. For one, hiking on Kauai is quite different terrain than what I am used to. The rocks crossing streams can be very slick, the trails muddy and narrow, and the weather unpredictable. I was initially given a gear list, but some of these items I did not have, such as "tabis" (a special shoe with felt bottoms for crossing wet rocks), and in those cases I was extremely grateful my guide was able to provide me with extras. Not only was I supported in the sense of what to pack and safety on the trail, but my guide was incredibly knowledgeable and respectful of the land. We hiked up some less-traveled trails that I definitely would not have been able to find on my own, leading me to some of the most beautiful views I have ever seen in my life. If you are looking for a true adventure, this is it! I only had one day in Kauai, I flew in early morning and flew out in the evening but thanks to Kauai Hiking Tours I was able to see a lot. Prior to booking the company had very good communication about what the tour included and my expectations. The guide picked me up from the airport promptly, even had fresh grape fruit cut for me. From there we headed to our 1st hiking destination to get an amazing view of the Na Pali Coast. On the drive we stopped at many scenic lookouts of Waimea Canyon. The guide was very knowledgeable about the island, plants, birds, ect. Additionally, the guide took many pictures for me, which is always nice when you are traveling solo. The hikes we took were slightly challenging but the guide provided all the proper gear and assistance when needed. I am not an avid hiker by any means and had no trouble. We stopped by a farmers market and had some delicious pineapple ice cream. Finally, I was lucky and we were able to see some sea turtles up close! We had an amazing hike with Jeremiah and it was THE highlight of our trip. We were firstly impressed with the accuracy of detail and hiking preparation listed on the website and sent in an email query about suitable hikes available. Anita looked after our query and was super helpful and most professional (thanks Anita!). We wrote that we were hoping for a more strenuous hike (to break the habit of our wintery potato couch lives back home) and this information was truly accounted for. The trail Jeremiah took us on was as appropriately strenuous and visually stunning as we had hoped for! Jeremiah also introduced us to the different plants/animals native to Kauai, edible fruits along the trail (pineapple guaves - yum!) and a hidden off-the-beaten track view of the canyon. We would not have been able to experience so much of Kauai had we been hiking by ourselves and Jeremiah also sent us some DIY hiking recommendations post-hike. For starters, they picked up right away when I called. I first spoke with Krista, she was able to arrange the perfect tour for me and assign a guide suited to my interests. I received clear emails detailing our planned adventure and prompt responses to my questions in the weeks leading up to my trip. My guide Jeremiah was well prepared for our long hike. At my request we met at 6 am so we could make the most of the day. Jeremiah is passionate about "treading lightly" while exploring Kauai with guests. After our family had spent nine full days on Kauai, including three or four separate hikes out of the "guidebooks", my daughter (22 yrs.) and I yearned to see something less-traveled yet breathtaking. My daughter contacted KHT, and after a long conversation with Andrew, we booked a full day with Jeremiah on New Year's Day. It couldn't have worked out better for us. Jeremiah took us on two separate hikes in the Waimea/Koke'e area, and both were absolutely stunning. Jeremiah is patient, kind, knowledgeable, and above all, exudes a strong passion for his work and Kaua'i. I had my heart set on hiking in the beautiful Waimea Canyon (& KoKee State Park) while on our week long vacation to the island. But I was afraid the family would back out if left to our own whims. This was my first trip to Kauai and really wanted to get out into nature. Being a solo traveler, some other tour groups could not accommodate me unless I paid for two people, but Jeremiah was flexible and added me to one of his scheduled tours. He is an extremely experienced tour guide and had back up options when the weather turned on us for a while. The views and trails we got to experience were AMAZING! Some trails we could have never found without him as they are unmarked and hidden by trees and bushes. He knew exactly where to pull over and get us out hiking. Lots of information about history and local culture. Particularly enjoyed the foraging for different types of island fruits along the way, and the fresh coconuts he hacked open for us at lunch. Kauai hiking tours offers both private and occasionally some group tours. Since it worked well with our timing, we opted for a group tour, with 4 other people. Our guide Jeremiah (owner/operator/guide) was beyond incredible! He brought everyone fresh coconuts, avocado, papaya and pineapple! He drove us to the most scenic and stunning lookout points, many off the beaten path with no other tourists around! He was extremely knowledgeable and obviously passionate about what he does! He is well versed with the terrain and both our hikes were hidden gems, again off the beaten path. We had the BEST time ever and thoroughly enjoyed our last day in Kauai, thanks to Jeremiah, Anita and Kauai hiking tours! Despite starting out as a rainy day, Jeremiah was able to find the sunniest spots all throughout our tour!! We'd been to Kaua'i many times in the past and wanted to do something we'd never done before and get off the beaten path a bit. We'd hiked various well known trails in the past and wanted to see where a "local" would go rather than taking another tourist hike. I explained this when I booked and Jeremiah delivered! Jeremiah's hike was exactly what we were looking for! Breathtaking views, some exciting 4 wheeling that involved manual road reconstruction with a local pig hunter in order to get through, excellent hiking in the jungle, across stream and through mud until we reached our destination... a waterfall oasis complete with swimming hole and rope swing! Jeremiah was a delightful hiking guide. He is knowledgeable, personable, listened to what I wanted and came well equipped with hiking poles, fresh cut fruit and cold beverages. My wife and I called Jeremiah and booked a hiking day in January 2017 kinda spur of the moment and I am glad we did. Though we hike at home in WA it was great to have the local knowledge and excellent flora and fauna knowledge of this great guide. Jeremiah also provided some of those things that are hard to pack along on your "lie on the beach" vacation like trekking poles, gloves, and slip-on grabbers for those extremely slick red Kauai trails. We had excellent views on an occasional trail that we never would have found ourselves and were given lots of local lore as well as environmental awareness. Jeremiah was truly prepared. When Sheryl got the beginnings of a blister, J was right there with the moleskin and kind words. He also brought extra food and water for us and basically pampered us while touring along a knife-edged ridge along the Napali coast. Highly recommended!!! read more

This hike was the highlight of our trip in Kauai. My husband and I were celebrating our honeymoon and wanted an adventurous hike in Kauai. Our guide was awesome!! He took us "off the beaten path" on the Kalalau Trail. We hiked along the Napali Coast. He provided hiking poles and gear for our shoes which helped a lot. While it was a foggy day along the trail, we had an excellent time hiking. He then took us hiking in the Waimea Canyon. We also stopped at lookouts along the way. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the area and trails too. We would not have experienced the trails that he took us on by ourselves. Going with Kauai Hiking Tours was worth it and a memorable experience. It was our favorite day during our two week honeymoon! We can't wait to come back someday. read more

In May 2014, I was recovering from a leg injury, so I hired Kauai Hiking Tours to show me around Kauai. Jeremy met me at my hotel on time, and welcomed me to the Garden Island with tropical fruit. We hiked the Waimea Canyon Trail together and we went at a slower pace due to my leg injury. It was an unforgettable experience. We also went to another part of the island to hike a secluded beach front area with rocks, Hawaiian Monk Seals, and hump back whales swimming in the distance. In fact, I enjoyed my hike with Jeremy and Kauai Hiking Tours so much, I am going hiking with the organization again in Alaska later this year. Jeremy is a wonderful and very knowledgeable guide of Kauai. I had the great experience of snorkeling on a secluded, rocky coastline. Having somewhat of a fear of being in situations of powerful waves, Jeremy calmed my fear with perfect information on how to work with the water. I was so exhilarated by the experience and his words came to me the next day when I got caught in an undertow at a beach I was at the next day which probably saved me from being pulled out to sea. He has so much knowledge of the island and imparts this knowledge as you move along from one adventure to the next. He helped pick the right trail for me and my brother (moderate hikers) and even moderated it so my parents could come along (very little hiking experience). My husband and I went to Kauai for our honeymoon and our hike with Jeremiah along a portion of the Napali Coast was hands-down one of the highlights of the trip. Not only did he know everything about Hawaii and the wildlife/plants of the particular region, he was extremely knowledgeable about the people who lived and inhabited those regions.
