It must be…read morerelatively new, and it's more sizeable than the one I'm used to in our neighborhood--it's comparable to Walmart Neighborhood Market in the states in terms of size and availability of merchandise. Interior is brightly lit and gives you an impression that it's very clean and welcoming. This particular chain of supermarkets are considered as a discount store. Therefore, their merchandise is generally cheaper compared to other similar supermarkets. Also, in general, merchandise they carry are not the same as other more expensive supermarkets do, so I can't really do an apple to apple comparison in terms of price. You get what you pay for is what I usually think...a basic principle of the free-market society...the price is as good as you are willing to pay. Nonetheless, it's always a great bargain if you can find something you need/want for less. That's what makes shopping at this store and similar ones worthwhile, I suppose.

A drive-through for bread and rolls is something I've not seen before to be honest! I love the whole idea and the location on the main street is great too. They have inside and outside seating with a lot of space (even for groups). The menu is pretty well stocked too, a ton of Coffee & Tee based beverages and lots of baked goods to choose from.

The majority of people coming here, are those that are on their way to work to the nearby towns of Herzogenaurach or Erlangen. And those few people who actually live here, are also most likely to chose one of the two bakeries on the main street. (Yes, the location is obviously also pretty darn fantastic) This being part of a chain, the bakery goods here are pretty much the same as in other Beck stores, everything ranging from the classic goods of breads, rolls and pastries, but you can also sit down for a decent (but slightly expensive) breakfast. The coffee...well, let's just say, I don't come here because of the coffee alone - it's more of what I would call a "convenience coffee" instead of a "quality coffee". I got an Eierlikör Becker, which consisted of 3 scoops of your choice (the scoops were thankfully relatively small) with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and a biscuit, topped with eierlikör-flavoured syrup/custard. I'm sometimes turned off by flavoured syrups but this one was actually very good - the taste of liqueur was so convincing that I almost thought I'd actually gotten something with alcohol. The gelato itself was also good! I opted for Malaga/rum raisin and hazelnut gelato and both flavours were relatively mild but pleasant (not artificially concentrated), and the gelato was very creamy. It was €7,50 which seems a little overpriced, but while I didn't look at the prices at the other gelato shops, this does seem in line with food prices in general around the market square.

It also offer made-to-order Turkish kabab sandwich, aka döner on a bun, or lahmacun, aka Turkish (although I heard it originates from Armenia) pizza wrap. Whether it comes as a sandwich or a wrap, the ingredients are the same--tomato slice, onion, cabbage, red cabbage, pepper, herbs and sauce. If you don't like any of them, you can skip as last ng as you let the server know. If you're vegetarian, you can just have a vegetable salad ones. If you like to add some protein, you can add thinly sliced grilled turkey from a rotating grilling spit. It seems a bakery is located at every corner of town. Of course, that's a little exaggeration for sure, but number of bakeries per square miles/kilometers must be one of the highest if not the highest in the world. This is not a huge bakery, but it offers all the essential items to satisfy your daily baked goods needs. Also, there is limited seating available for those who desire to sit down and enjoy some conversation with a cup of espresso and some pastries.

Additionally, there's another BrotHaus just 350 meter down the street. It amazes me how these bakeries coexist in such close proximity, but it certainly bears witness to how Germans love their freshly baked bread and other bakery items.
