The only problem is that much of the meat is sold vacuum-sealed in rather large portions. For example, one cannot buy a portion of foie gras - it has to be a whole one, and it's the same with calf sweetbread. But the fish section is much more reasonable as the fishmonger will cut fish to size for you and also fillet and remove the skin if you ask nicely. There are also several cheeses which are hard to find elsewhere. The only let-down is the selection of wines, which are a little haphazard and a little too focussed on Spanish and Italian. So, if you want the finest ingredients at prices lower than the KaDeWe, this is the place to go. But please do go early as they can run out of stock of certain items by the end of the day.

I called and asked if they knew whether there would be mussels on Monday because I'm having a dinner party and want to get them fresh. All of a sudden the guy on the phone yells at me saying "I AM NOT GOD, I CAN NOT PREDICT THE FUTURE! We order it on Monday and if it comes it comes and if it doesn't it doesn't." I mean, what can you say to that? For an upscale store like Frische Paradies I just expect better service, or at least not to be yelled at for asking a reasonable question. They should treat their customers better!

I like to buy candy and snacks as souvenirs and I was able to find everything I wanted here. There is a variety of Haribo and Katjes gummies here for .99 euros. I can't wait to try everything!
