We ventured to Kaye's for breakfast while visiting the area. The food was SO good. They had such a wide variety of choices. I can't decide what the best part was... definitely either the service from Susan and Faith or the coffee. So glad we picked this spot. I stopped by Kaye's with 4 friends for their Sunday brunch buffet. It was one of the best brunch I've had! Our waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and afterwards we got up to help ourselves to the food. I'm especially in love with their mashed potatoes, but they also serve chicken, vegetables, bacon, sausages, pancakes, and omelettes. I also really like the employees and how friendly they are! The person making the omelettes was so kind towards this one rude customer who told him to hurry it up because he's holding up the line. Just visited on a friend's recommendation. They were very welcoming and kind as they seated you. I came on a Saturday and they were serving the breakfast buffet. A lovely man explained the cooked to order foods available (omelets, toast, eggs, etc). Everything tasted wonderful! The omelet was fluffy and packed with tons of veggies, the potatoes were extra cheesy, and the sausage gravy was packed full of flavor! A buffet usually takes a bit of hit in quality simply because it sits out for a while and is kept warm. True here as well but tempered by the cooked to order section. I really enjoyed my visit and will definitely be back! Everyone on the floor stayed true to the mask mandate, not so much behind the counter, but I felt safe enough! read more

I drove 20 miles out of my way because I noticed they had Cuban coffee on the menu. Turns out Kaye is from Miami and the coffee was worth the detour. The bonus was the Sunday brunch! Omelets made to order. Pancakes too. And I sure am glad I saved room to sample the pot roast at the lunch bar in the back of the room -- unbelievably moist, tender and flavorful. read more

We were excited to try this place based on reviews of others, but unfortunately it wasn't what we thought. The place is cute and quaint and has nice outdoor seating for people with pets. The food is just okay. We had a dinner service. The bread and butter before the meal was nice. The garden salad with ranch was also good. But the shrimp appetizer was terrible. To top it off, the young waitress was horribly rude and trash-talked multiple customers to the cooks so loudly you could hear it across the restaurant. Numerous customers heard her. We spoke to the owner/manager and she said she would speak to the employee, so hopefully it is rectified. I own a small business so I understand the value of excellent product and excellent service to the customers. read more

Wow! In the area for a hike and a view of the sunrise, we searched for a place for breakfast and were once again grateful for this app to help us find a place we wouldn't have seen otherwise. It's ok. Kaye is especially sweet & works hard & loves cooking. I think it's ok. If I'm paying to go out I want great! We can all cook at home so unless it's great, not much point in going out. This place is rated 5 stars. This rating was well earned. We visited Kaye's for Sunday brunch. The place is not too big, actually rather cozy. There's the food line to your right as you come in. For brunch, they had fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and gravy. For breakfast they had an omelette station and he also makes pancakes, plus many other breakfast fixings. Service was outstanding. There were 3-4 ladies walking the tables, and they helped each other out. Our used plates were removed promptly, our cups always remained filled, and everyone was very nice and welcoming. The place is a little bit hidden next to the McDonalds in downtown Newland. I think it was an excellent combination of good food with good service. So I am going to agree with all the other reviewers that gave this place 5 stars. There are not a lot of 5 star breakfast places in Newland, so be sure to give Kaye's a visit. It's as good as it gets. read more

We were all delighted with our amazing Sunday brunch buffet choices! The kids each had chocolate chip pancakes in Mickey Mouse shapes. First time to this establishment. Visiting friends and decided to give it a try for dinner. Three in the group ordered the salmon. Two came undercooked. One was sent back after taking it to the counter since the young waitress advised us to wait while she took phone orders. The salmon was placed on the same plate into the microwave and brought back. The other not so done piece was picked through. The other plate ordered was the chicken cordon blue. The meal was overloaded with salt but edible. The owner took our bills at the register and was kind enough to give a discount. Would strongly encourage that they seek additional dining area staff since it appears that the young lady was either just starting in this career or just naturally lacking people and serving skills. A surprising little restaurant in a beautiful little town. From my experience they serve comfort food with interesting twists. For example, my sautéed vegetables had a lychee nut in it, and it worked perfectly. My ribeye had a rosemary glaze that was excellent. Their menu seems to rotate daily. The prices for dinner are much higher but seems like it has very classy options. Clean and abiding by COVID-19 mandates. We just found Kayes and decided to try it. After 30 min from Beech Mountain we thought it was probably too far...but it's totally worth the trip! I'm so happy we stumbled upon Kaye's Kitchen while spending a long weekend in the mountains. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we went back 3 times over the course of our trip! Luckily, the final time was also when they were having Sunday brunch... what a treat! So, going for breakfast and lunch on a regular day was delicious. Tons of options in a hoppin' local cafe. Service was super friendly and the food was perfect. Definitely a wait so be prepared! When we came in on Sunday, we were surprised to see their giant brunch setup. A good chunk of the restaurant was reserved for the chef taking orders for everything from donut french toast, to egg white omelets. Biscuits and gravy, waffles... you name it! We left stuffed but didn't even feel guilty. This will definitely be on our recommendation list for friends visiting, as well as our 'must return' list for when we make it back to Linville. read more

I came to this establishment a few days ago and it was a nightmare. The waitress was extremely rushed and the woman I assume is the owner was unbothered doing just about nothing. I do not blame the waitress because she was running food, taking orders, and checking customer out. I even saw her bussing her own tables. The "owner" was going table to table just chitchatting with other customers not to help but maybe check one or two customers out. The food was sub par and I would rather go to the McDonalds across the street. Not to mention the place looks and smells like it hasn't been cleaned in a year, would not recommend. read more

This place was a fantastic breakfast place. Service was great; I noticed the waitress helping my youngest with his straw while I was in line for an omelette. The chef at the omelette station made great eggs and was super friendly. We met Kaye outside looking at the ducks and she gave the kids food to feed the ducks, the kids loved it.
