Look, I get it. I really do. You walk into a place with hope, maybe even a little excitement. You've heard the stories, the whispers of something special happening behind those doors. And then... this. Standing there, watching couple after couple just give up and walk away. That slow, sinking realization that you're witnessing something broken. One person in the kitchen. One. Like watching a symphony with a single violin, trying desperately to fill a concert hall. The cashier being kind almost makes it worse, doesn't it? Because you can see they care, they know this isn't right, but they're trapped in this understaffed fever dream just as much as you are. Seven or eight orders deep with one cook. That's not a restaurant, that's a small cry for help disguised as a business. You know what gets me? That optimism at the end. "I'm going to try this place one more time.". That stubborn belief that maybe, just maybe, things will be different on a Tuesday afternoon. But deep down, you already know the truth. Places that can't figure out basic staffing on a Saturday lunch rush aren't magically going to transform into well oiled machines on a Wednesday. The real tragedy isn't the wait. It's the slow death of what could have been something beautiful. All those great things you heard? They probably happened when someone still cared enough to keep the lights on properly. I hope to come back on a weekday, but after a 30 minute drive there, I hope the owners take this review to heart, and change something, and quickly.

Great little store! The lady at the cash register was super personable and friendly. The sushi looks delicious. They had a ton of cool products that you can't just find at h mart or 99 ranch. Lots of imported sweets frozen and pantry. Very fun! The orange mochi is delicious

We came for lunch and Ordered 4 rolls and the tempura udon soup and it was amazing! We called ahead to place an order and got edamame for free. Our order came out fast and fresh. We picked up some from their market to make sushi at home and was very please for the quality and price. All their staff were helpful and kind. We will definitely be coming back.

Kazy's just re-opened in 2024. I was so excited to hear this news because last time I tried this shop years ago it was FANTASTIC! I'm happy to report they are still serving amazing, FRESH sushi. Dare I say... some of the freshest in Dallas. Each of their rolls are served in 4 pieces which is great because you can try lots of different rolls. Here is what I ordered and how I'd rate: - Spicy salmon (7/10) - Jalapeño (7.5/10) - Lady bird; yellowtail (8/10) - LBJ; shrimp tempura (9/10) - California (10/10) - Salmon avocado (10/10) - Eel (10/10) The shop not only has the sushi bar/restaurant but offers lots of authentic Japanese food and ingredients in their market area - think sushi grade tuna, eel, tobiko, Sailor Moon soda, mochi and more! They also sell Japanese pottery, chopsticks and fun sushi candles. It's just an awesome vibe! My only tip is to order ahead; they can get really busy and it's a small business so you may have an unexpected wait (I think I waited 20 minutes past when they said it would be ready). Nonetheless, it was soooo worth it! :)

I come here when I need some local food from Hawaii they have renoldo's port sausage and red hot dogs, lau lau and other stuff I grab from the islands. I am happy we have them here! Prices are a little higher but it's understandable. Nothing to complain about always fast service.

I've been going to Kazy's for 12 years now and while it has undergone several changes over the years from interior renovations to menu changes, one thing hasn't changed, it's still a good place to get some decent sushi or Japanese food at a discount price. Kazy's is primarily a fish distributor and Japanese market but they also have a small restaurant inside. You order at the cash register and they call your number when it's ready. I'm disappointed that they got rid of all the nirgiri options but they do offer churashi bowls now with salmon, tuna, and/or hamachi. The sushi rolls here are smaller than other places (4 pieces per order), but most the rolls aren't very expensive which allows you to get a larger variety if you are dining solo. The chicken teriyaki is pretty good, but my chicken was a bit dry during my last visit - as if I had been presliced an hour earlier and left under a warmer or reheated in an oven. They also have udon noodles, miso soup, and a few other appetizer items which I've never had any complaints about. For dessert, the green tea ice cream is a new addition which I haven't had the opportunity to try yet. It's not the best Japenese food/sushi in town or a fancy place to take a date, but I'm still a big fan of Kazy's for a quick, affordable work lunch.

Chicken teriyaki, no longer in a donburi bowl

Kazy's was one of my earliest Yelp reviews (nearly ten years ago!), and I'd been coming here for over ten years before that! But wow, I just visited for the first time in a while (as I no longer live in Dallas)! So much has changed from the days of the yellow awnings, tiny kitchen and busy metal shelves. First, the look of the place! Now painted slate blue with bamboo blinds, and the caricature fishmonger prominently featured on the side of the building, it looks very sleek and up to date, as do the wood shelves, large wooden tables for dining in, and refrigerator cases spanning one wall. The kitchen is about three times bigger, and the front counter repositioned as well. The hours of the sushi bar have also been reduced. Products included all manner of Japanese food and cooking items, as well as snacks (mostly at the front counter), plus an array of Hawaiian foods, and even Japanese cosmetics like Dolly Wink mascara, Palty hair dye, and camellia oil. Food was still good, though dine-in chicken teriyaki is served on a plate rather than the old donburi bowl. Gotta say I miss the chicken being cut into chunks rather than strips; easier to eat with chopsticks! Tuna sashimi came on a glass dish full of ice and was very fresh. The menu has been streamlined since the past, but they are featuring past favorites from the old menu as specials, like the unagi eel rolls I also got. There was a brisk lunch crowd (mostly guys, so ladies take note, haha). The kitchen staff were bustling to serve everyone speedily. If you wonder why the stock and menu seem pared down, it may be because Kazy's is doing wholesale business in several states; a Dallas friend said she's seen their trucks around town multiple times. The young man at the front counter was friendly and helpful; enjoyed chatting with him for a moment when the rush calmed down. Kazy himself passed away a few years ago, but his benevolent presence is still here in the form of a large, smiling photo near the front and in the bones of this long-standing Japanese store. May it last forever; I'll be back any time I'm in Dallas.

I think not being able to set down your food for a picture is the best endorsement

I haven't been down to Kazy's in a few years. We stopped in on a visit to some family and it's just as delicious as I remembered. We had edamame, a couple of Chirashi bowls, a few rolls, and an udon soup. The girls said the fireball and spicy tuna rolls were the best. They enjoyed shopping for Japanese items in their store. Next time we're in town we'll be back

Cheap Japanese food that satisfied my tummy during lunch time. Most rolls are less than $5. Rice bowls around $5. Bento for $7 and $10. Nigiri around $1 a piece. Ramen and udon for $4. $1 for one scope of green tea ice cream. Can you beat that? I like coming here for lunch, but the food takes a long time sometimes. They can be very slow and inefficient, which annoyed me b/c they have plenty of help in the kitchen. Beside that, the food is good enough. The ramen is probably the best thing here. The squid salad is good. The rolls are decent. The green tea is strong with matcha flavor, but still good. And since they supply sushi grade fishes for many Japanese restaurants around the area, you'd think their fishes are really good, but it's just average. I'd skip the nigiri. They also have Japanese snacks which I love. Most snacks are green tea flavor so that's a plus. You can also get green tea Kit Kat here, just FYI. For the price and decent food, can't really complain.

We love this place. It's sad they pared down their menu but we still love it. Our kids love the udon, California roll, LBJ roll, salmon avocado roll. We also like to pick up large pieces of sashimi and take it home. We can easily take off the skin and cut. It's always so fresh. Solid every time.

So many plates and bowls upstairs :D

The market has a lot of diverse wares, both Asian-centric and more generic foodstuffs. While the meat and vegetable sections were decidedly cheaper, and much better bargains for your money, pretty much everything else is either market value or pricier than other Asian markets. I would caution, as other posters have mentioned, to check the expiration dates of anything you want to purchase, as I noticed lots of stock on the shelves was already expired. That might also mean even items marked with a later expiration date may not be as fresh as advertised. As with most authentic Asian markets (maybe ones not named H-Mart), it isn't the cleanest, nor does it smell that good, but you're not there to sleep or live, haha. The setting doesn't necessarily reflect on the quality of food, especially if it's packaged or sealed. I'd personally pass and try to find another Asian market, but if this location is the easiest or closest for you, especially given the paucity of Asian markets in Texas, it's not a terrible choice.

It looks like a small market from the outside, and even when you step in - but they have a lot of stuff in the freezers in the back - but they're old-school freezers that you have to open the hatch up to see what's inside. Well, luckily I did and I could see they have a plethora of frozen fishes, and even frogs. They seem to have everything basic, and also game meats, to make any kind of dish a Burmese could request for - but I wouldn't know for sure. But really, this place could use some dressing up. And it would look a lot less tacky if they would stop doubling their store as some kind of phone business. Regardless, I looked up on yelp for Burmese and Myanmar things - and the closest thing is in Lewisville. So this is something unique for Dallas, whether I like it or not.
