She was so sick she started having seizures…read more It's no wonder she was always sick because when we would pick her up, her teacher would be sitting on the floor with all of the children climbing on top of her. My child was 1 year old and when we would pick her up and she would be outside she would be on the complete other side of the playground from the teachers by herself on the big kids playground equipment. Every single time I picked her up her diaper was wet or filled with poop and when she got home she was ravenously hungry. They sent her home in other children's clothes. Sent her home with other children's pacifiers. Sent her home with their pacifiers even though I weaned her off of them they couldn't handle her teething. Wouldn't use the diaper rash cream I supplied then sent DCF to my home because of diaper rashes. She was only there a few months but the whole time was miserable. Never again.

I started to come in at different times and always observed all the kids running around wild and there was no real affection shown to the kids.. What really upset me is on more than one occasion I witnessed the 1 year olds crying constantly, upset and the teacher never once comforted them. At one point I watched as a child was picked up by the arm and moved over to the wall and told to stay there. The teachers didnt seem happy to be there and the turn over was alot. Bright colors and fuzzy bees can be deceiving........

She cried throughout the day, and I was repeatedly told that this was normal behavior. After the owner suggested that we stop speaking Spanish at home, I decided it was time to find a different environment for her. We transferred her to Ellison Acres Preschool, and what a difference it has made. From the very first day, my daughter was a completely different child. She would come home excitedly comparing the two schools, telling me how this one has so many toys, colorful chairs, a more comfortable place to nap, and how much fun she was having. What stands out the most is how the teachers make every effort to communicate with her and include her in activities, despite the language barrier. At her previous school, she often seemed isolated and as though she did not belong. Here, she feels welcomed, supported, and happy. The tuition is also more affordable, saving us about $60 per week. Another thing I truly appreciate is receiving a summary of her day, which allows me to know what she has been learning and doing. As a parent, that means so much. I am incredibly grateful for the teachers and staff at Ellison Acres Preschool. Seeing my daughter excited to go to school each morning has been such a relief, and I wanted to share our positive experience with other families who may be searching for the right place for their child. They have been such a blessing to our family over the years. Both of our children learn differently and have different types of personalities, and they have handled both with such love and compassion as if they were their own.
