I should preface by saying that your experience may vary depending on the time of day and season that you're going. We wanted something casual and hearty during a winter outing in Glenwood Springs, and had walked by the tantalizing signage for chicken wings here several times before stopping in for lunch. Inside - dead. And because none of the usual indoor lighting was lit, the interior just seemed sort of sad, dirty, and run-down. There was one front-staff worker whose first language was definitely not English who was cleaning at the time and quickly sat us down with some menus. We had sort of a hard time communicating and getting our order down, but he definitely was doing his best. We got an order of Jamaican Jerk whole wings and Hot Honey regular wings. What you see is what you get - presentation isn't looking to impress, but portion size is quite ample. The whole wings are legit chicken quarters and the Jamaican Jerk was not playing around - a punchy jerk seasoning that had both of us drinking deeply from the spice, while the Hot Honey was a pleasant crowd-pleasing mix of flats and drums with a solid sweet to spicy ratio. All in all, we enjoyed our wings but probably would try coming when things are a little more lively so it's easier to ignore the ambiance. read more

We had early dinner with Jesus as the server. He was kind and gave good service for being the only person there. We sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine and the people walking by while we waited. My girlfriend ordered a vodka cran, which was served in a rocks glass(not normal) and they charged .75 cents for the cranberry. Fries were cold and unseasoned without the sauce it said it came with, and the mozzarella sticks were barely cooked. The bartender was either drunk, or just beyond incompetent. In the ladies restroom the hand soap available was MENS 3-1 BODY WASH. This place should not be in business. Will never ever ever go there again. I was visiting a hot springs nearby & just happened to stumble across this restaurant. This was the first and only Jamaican restaurant I've seen during my visit. Anyways. No reservations and we were seated right away. The place was pretty empty, I recall seeing another table of a couple eating. I ordered the oxtails, with rice and peas & it came with coleslaw. I thought that was odd that it didn't come with cabbage but ok. The food didn't take long at all & our server was very friendly and checked up on us. As far as Jamaican food I thought the oxtail was seasoned and tender. It maybe could have used some gravy, at least that's what I'm used to. I was stuck between the amount of star reviews because the waitress was really helpful; however, I'm not sure if this is her first job. She stated that she was getting over laryngitis and had to talk so close and directly to our face because she couldn't speak loud. We found it very uncomfortable and rude to cough and consistently sniff while taking our orders. No awareness of manners nonewhatsoever; yet again she was extremely pleasant. Jamaican food in the mountains, who would guess? We had the whole fish which was excellent. We got it fried and were pleasantly surprised at how much you tasted those warm Jamaican spices. It is paired with beans and rice which continued those warm spices. There is a slaw that gives you a creamy component and the sweet plantains were crunchy and gooey. There is a sauce over the top which adds some acid and more flavor. Best thing we've had all weekend and we will be back. Side note, this has bones in it and I saw other people complaining about how this place has bones in the food. People that is where the flavor comes from. Dog shit is the only way to describe this place. Let me tell you....!! We ordered our food - bean nachos (she forgot to put in and they took 30 minutes), I got veggie Jamaican patty meal and my boyfriend got the chicken wings (whole). Our bean nachos had 10 beans (we counted lol), my veggie patty tasted like a frozen king Soopers brand patty, and my boyfriend ended up receiving flats. I don't think we experienced a true reflection of the restaurant during our visit and I would give it another try. The bar tender was very friendly and wonderful, she was very attentive to our needs. She really hustled and took great care of us. We really enjoyed our drinks and our service! The problem came in because the chef hadn't shown up. We didn't know this when we arrived or when we ordered. After we ordered, we watched our bartender/waitress go into the kitchen and microwave the parts of our meals and then the whole assembled plate again just before she brought it out. The microwave is right in front of the kitchen window so it was easy to see. When she brought our food out she let us know that they were out of slaw so she gave us more meat and that she was having to play chef-boy since the chef hadn't shown up. We ordered 4 different Jamaican dishes, one for each of us. The rice was dry and didn't have much flavor. The meats on the other hand were all very tasty and I am sure they would have been better if they weren't microwaved, one was quite chewy. I don't feel like I can fault the bartender/waitress as she made things happen in the absence of the chef, but I would much rather have been told there was no chef prior to putting in our order.
