The KCOM Stadium is home to Hull City Tigers, up until last year it was known as the KC stadium until the name of its' sponsor company changed and so did the name of the stadium. The stadium has a capacity just over 25,000 and opened in late 2002. The stadium is quite small for a Premier League stadium, but considering Hull are only a smaller side who have been in and out of the Premier League in recent years, even in League One back in 2005 the demand probably isn't there for an expansion. I think this is also the perfect place for my 1200th review mainly down to my love of football and travel and this place shows that to help reach that landmark.
I called here for today's match against Hull City, where my beloved Manchester City defeated the hosts 3-0, this is quite a nice stadium considering the position Hull are in being a struggling team in the Premier League, currently in last place, meanwhile as I write this City are second, only behind Chelsea.
In the run-up to the game I was pleased with the staff in arranging gluten free food at the match, where they'd ordered me in a gluten free pie and the service the team provided in sorting me out with free parking at the Walton Street Car Park at the ground.
The stadium was easy to find on Manchester, basically on the M62 for 70 miles and then onto the A63 to the Infirmary, so it is quite easy to find.
The policing at the stadium was a little over the top, in all honestly I'd never seen so many police at a football ground before, even as a City season-card holder but with a high amount of City supporters being there for a small protection, this is good and is probably needed for protection and security.
The game of course was great, as Manchester City won especially with three goals in the second half from Yaya Toure, Kelechi and a goal from Sterling which went down as an own goal.
I didn't like how the concession stands were situated at a point which weren't wheelchair accessible which is a real shame considering this is quite new for a stadium, being built only in 2002 which is around the same time which the Etihad was built. Other than the pitch, roof and floodlights and the boxes and Sky area, and the outside, the stadium didn't seem that modern at all which is a shame.
Overall, the match experience here was good and so with security, with a huge shoutout to the staff for being attentive and helpful, as an away fan I've found the Hull staff to probably be some of the best I've had such as with contacting the club and getting a response beforehand, and on the day, where I was helped into the lift and to find my seats by the staff, there seemed to be staff there to help everywhere I looked.
This stadium is great for a club like Hull, so does deserve three solid stars, but due to that lack of a feel of it being a special stadium due to it lacking modern and newer areas in some parts and due to the size and overall feel of the stadium, I do feel three stairs is fair. read more
