I've only been a fan of Persian food since January of last year when the team I worked with while making a music documentary took me to Mister Kabab after a long and tedious shoot. Feeling especially exhausted at the 3 in the morning, any cuisine sounded okay to me. And boy, was it worth it! It was love at first bite! I can't believe I've lived 25 years and only gotten to taste and appreciate the awesomeness that is Persian food a year ago. I know, I know. How stupid of me.
Because of that, I've decided to explore more Middle Eastern restaurants in the country to make up for lost time. One food spot I've discovered and loved is Kebabers, a fast food-like place found at the 3rd floor of Eastwood City Walk. Kebabers' specialty is of course kebab (duh). But they put a little twist to the Persian favourite. Unlike other kebabs from Persia Grill, Mister Kabab or Uncle Moe's, Kebabers offer cheese-filled kebab. Isn't that amazing?! They serve this with garlic yogurt (your pick if you want the spicy one), half a tomato and yellow rice.
Honestly, the food is pretty good. The only "bad" thing I have to say is that the serving size of the kebab is actually a bit too small for me. Each meal, they usually serve two small kebabs. I guess for a fan like myself, I would appreciate it if the kebabs were a bit bigger or if they came in threes. But then I'm not sure if the serving size really is too small or I just can't get enough of it. Hahaha!
I have yet to try the rest of their menu but I'll check back to see what else I can get. But for now, those cheese-filled kebabs are enough to make me extra happy! read more
