This review is specifically for one of their birthday cakes, the napoleon taro . The visuals don't disappoint! This was a monster of a cake. Fed 20 people easily. Friend ordered it in advance for a party. Taste wise, it could've been a little more moist. The taro layer wasn't as creamy as we'd like but I appreciated the use of ACTUAL taro (not the artificial stuff). The napolean layers were crispy. The cake as a whole wasn't too sweet. The middle cake layer is dry without the cream that the sides had. The fruit was a great touch. Cheaper than other places for similar cakes so overall a good deal!

I ordered this birthday cake for my boss two weeks ago. The lady on the phone was very nice. No deposit needed. I could just order the cake on the phone and tell them when I was going to pick it up. Decent price. Cake is so fresh and delicious. I will definitely go back to order this bday cake again whoever I know love chestnut bday cake.

Egg tarts! Tried two of each. Original has that barely-sweet egg-pudding filling. Crispy is the same with a crunchier crust, but I think the original is fine. Portuguese is sweeter and has a more caramelized texture. They're good, just make sure you like egg because these are very egg-y. They make solid bread-pastries as well. Can't go wrong with a good pineapple bun. All good here, and I'm glad I got to try the OG place. Will be back for mooncakes when the season starts.

It's almost moon festival, kee wah has their own brand of moon cake for sell. Kee wah is also a good brand in Hong Kong. One regular moon cake is around $16, and the tiny one is $6.75. during this time I don't see any birthday cake on sell because the display are now filled with moon cakes. The minimum charge to use a credit card is $15 dollars.

Kee wah eggtart never disappoints. We got both portugese and traditional hk. Both are good, depends what you like. They're around 2.25-2.50 each- not super cheap but worth it. The lady staffs are all so nice. It's custardy but not runny. The eggy flavor is just right. And the tart's hold up well. Nice little breakfast with coffee or afternoon snack. The bread is all fully stocked with a lot of variety too. Very affordable and so far everything taste good. This one is the MPK location. Kinda hidden, located in the 99ranch plaza.

One of the things I gotta get used to in LA is the open malls they have here. They have a lot of shops lined up like this. This is my first time in Kee Wah Bakery since they don't have this chain in NYC. I was trying to find a non flaky crust egg tart and this was the only place that had it. It was a bit pricey but was super delicious. It was the best I had in LA so far. The other thing I tried were the Pineapple Cakes. Apparently they make it themselves. The filling was good but the cookie dough was a bit too dry for my tastes. They also sell homemade moon cakes which I didn't get to try. I would love to come back here next time I visit the area. I wish they open early. They don't open until 9:30am and close early too.

I consider myself a milk powder bread connoisseur and they have one of the best ones I've ever had. The bolo on top is sweet and crumbly without being overly greasy and has a generous filling of milk powder.

We stopped by to for some yummy treats. Pineapple shortbread is my favorite. The chicken pie was delicious too! We also had the hot sweet milk tea. We took our usual to go matcha bun, red bean paste bun, pork bun. & creme bun.

    So many pastries!

Solid Chinese bakery where I always stop in after a trip to 99 ranch in the same parking lot. I mostly wanted to check out the moon cakes. I missed the moon festival amidst a super host schedule lately. Sadly moon cakes (on the pricier side) are sold regular price still after the moon festival is past. Nothing on special. Nice selection though.

A small bakery located in the same plaza as the 99 Ranch Market and not too much of a selection left when I came by. I used to come here to get cakes back in the day. Everything is rather pricey for the size, especially those gift boxes. I got some pineapple buns and a slice of cake. I did not like the cake.

    An assortment!

Their pastries are priced right, the quality is there, and the place is always clean and neatly organized. You won't find Asian pastries better than this in the 626! My favorite is the hot dog bun (been a favorite ever since I was a little girl ). My mom loves the ham & egg bun, which I've only ever seen at Kee Wah, and my dad's go-to is the coconut cream bun. They also make lovely dan tats (egg tarts) and Asian-styled fruit cakes! Also the staff is so friendly and sweet . Highly recommend!

Apparently Nucleus expanded and opened a second location in Portland in 2016. [Parking]: Easy and free street parking. If parking is not available on Main St, then there are plenty of public parking spots and parking plazas in downtown Alhambra. [Space]: The space is separated into a bookstore at the front with various art books and a rotating art exhibit (Wicked in March 2026) at the back. All art on display is for sale. The bookstore sells mostly art books (both original works and artwork from specific anime, games, or pop culture) as well as various original greeting cards. Tickets are not required to see the exhibit and admission is free. [Conclusion]: A neat spot to see various unique art prints and a free exhibit. Chances are if you are at Nucleus then you are also here to check out other spots in downtown Alhambra (e.g. grabbing tea drinks or visiting other miscellaneous shops).

Parking is typically found on side streets or nearby lots within a short walking distance. Restrooms are available for patrons and visitors. Ambiance: The gallery is well laid out and spacious, balancing retail display areas with open exhibition space. Artwork sales are positioned toward the front while the main exhibit areas extend across both the first and second floors. Featured artists rotate regularly, giving the space a fresh feel. Currently Shorthand has 3 locations - Highland Park, Larchmont Village, and San Anselmo. This Highland Park location is the flagship location. [Parking]: There are plenty of metered parking spots and paid public parking lots, but parking can be hard to come by during busy shopping seasons. [Selection]: The shop offers greeting cards, pens, notebooks, pen, pencils, gift wraps, etc. I like the greeting card selection a lot better at Shorthand, but I didn't see too many Valentine's Day cards. The shop was a lot more colorful than Crush & Touch as Shorthand organized pens and pencils by color. They also sell really neat hand drawn Highland Park and Eagle Rock maps. The shop also sells various colors of ribbon per yard and gift wrap. Each color of ribbon has a slightly different price. I actually got a red tight weave ribbon for $1.75 per yard and the staff even gave me a slightly extra length. [Gift Wrap Service]: Customers can purchase gifts in store or bring them in from elsewhere. In general, regular (one sheet) = $8, large (two sheets) = $14, and extra large (three sheets+) = $20+.
