So far they've been great for us. The most recent example was today. I had spent the entire morning trying to get our sump pump to work, and had tried everything to thaw the pipes. I had come to the conclusion that maybe it was the pump itself that was having issues, so I decided to give them a call. The person I spoke with was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, and had someone sent out same day to take a look. I believe his name was John and he was excellent. Super friendly and knew his stuff for sure. In the end it did turn out to simply be frozen pipes, but John took care of it, and not to mention had to work outside on the coldest day we've had in a long time. Only 60 degrees and it was chilly inside. I called and the owner "Don" told me they were buried with calls and couldn't get to me for a few days. I called another company that runs lots of advertising "Big Name" and what a mistake that was. They came out repaired something and charged me over $400. The next day the furnance started acting up again. I called them back and they decided it had an expensive part that needed to be ordered +$1200. I decided to call "Don" at Abby's back and told him what was going on. Here it was Christmas Eve and he dropped everything and came to our rescue. He too said the part the other guys mentioned needed to be replaced. He just happened to have one in his truck. Plus he told us it was under warranty and sent it in for us. End of the story he had it fixed and running quickly and only charged us $200. Called the other "Big Name" guys asking to be reimbursed the $400 that didn't fix my problem. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the attic lacked adequate insulation, with only 2-3 inches of deteriorated insulation present. Additionally, the entire attic, ceiling, and chimney required vapor sealing and the removal of old insulation. To ensure optimal sealing of the home, the basement exterior rim joist should also be foam sealed. Prioritize Energy Testing: Conducted both before and after the re-insulation of the home. The purpose of this test is to identify the existing insulation characteristics of the home and compare them to those after re-insulation. Insulation Team: Tyler, Nick, and Trevor - all highly skilled and professional individuals who consistently provided us with updates throughout the entire process. The attic upgrade process involves several steps: 1. Removal of old insulation. 2. Chimney wrapping and proper ventilation of the bathroom vent fan. 3. Covering the pod ceiling light and adding vent panels for the eaves. 4. Sealing the entire attic and ceiling with spray foam. 5. Spraying in 17 inches of cellulose insulation (fire retardant, pest retardant, higher R-value, and 100% recycled). 6. Construction of a new attic access cover with insulation. Basement Rim Joist Sealing: The entire basement rim joist was sealed with foam. Prior to this work, we had capped the concrete block basement wall tops with rigid foam and caulked in 2022. Current Residence: Acquired in 2022, necessitating extensive maintenance. Previous Energy Upgrades: 1. In 2022, the furnace and ducting were replaced. 2. In 2022 and 2025, the 1954 windows were replaced. 3. In 2026, the outdated air conditioning system was replaced with a Bryant VAN 290 Heat Pump. I requested that management contact me directly, as I was handling the matter. Instead, they contacted my husband, who then had me speak with them. During that conversation, management did not provide a name to me and stated that repairs had been made, which was the reason for the charge. Throughout the conversation, the manager was rude, dismissive, and repeatedly interrupted me. Rather than addressing my concerns regarding the lack of authorization, he repeatedly attempted to justify the charges by stating that repairs had been completed. I acknowledge that I raised my voice out of frustration from being continuously interrupted, only to then be told that I was not acting appropriately. I explained that I had not used vulgar language, was not being condescending, and had repeatedly asked him to stop interrupting me. There was no acknowledgment from management that performing and charging for repairs without authorization was improper. When I expressed concern that failing to provide an invoice was unethical, the manager argued with me rather than addressing the issue. I informed him that I have video footage of the interaction between my husband and the technician, which shows that no authorization was signed or verbally provided for repairs to be performed. The manager stated that the company would issue a refund and send someone to retrieve the materials that had been installed. Due to management's constant interruption, dismissive and unprofessional conduct, it became impossible to have a productive discussion. I did not feel comfortable continuing the conversation. I informed them that I would be filing a complaint with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) and ended the call. I still have not received any invoice, work order, estimate, or other documentation related to the service call.
