While most are off limits outside of scientific stations, this is a great way to learn about them and the history of the monument. The center has many events, that can viewed on their website. It's free and open Tuesday through Saturday during the day. A highlight for me was the large aquarium of reef fish at the back, as well as maps and historic photos from the different islands. They also have clean restrooms, which can be hard to find while walking around Hilo. They have free information to take as well. It's worth it to talk to the attendant as they are knowledgeable about the center and monument. This is a worthwhile activity for any visitor to the islands.

It wasn't crowded and has Air Conditioning. You can probably see the whole place in about an hour. There are additional exhibits upstairs, i don't believe there is an elevator. First, their business hours are from 6 PM - 9 PM. So my family and I got there around 7. When we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly aunty who works there. We checked out the price for laser tag ($9 per person for one round). However, since there was five of us, aunty helped us save some money and told us to do the $40 for 5 rounds (we only did 1 round). Still saved us $5 though, so that was a score. Then, we signed waivers and paid. We needed to wait about 5 minutes to go in the laser tag arena since there was another group playing. That group then came out and it was our turn to go in. Once in, we needed to watch a 2 minute safety video. Afterwards, we put on our gear and got our laser tag guns. We decided to play free for all instead of being on teams LOL. Last, when you go in the arena, there's a countdown. Gives you time to hide. The laser tag arena is Huge. Pretty dope too how it was like cosmic laser tag. EDM music is also being played on the speakers. We were in the room for about 10 minutes. It counts down when the round is about to end. Later on, we put our gear away and said thanks to the aunty. That said, not all of the courts are always open at the same time, as children's basketball and volleyball practices do take place in the gym later in the afternoon, depending on the time of year. Being that there's not really anywhere else that is open on a regular basis in town, however, you just deal with it and are happy to get a game in when you can. The majority of people who come to play here are really nice and easy to get along with. And as long as you don't act like a jerk, they're pretty accepting as well.

Great hours, and the staffs are friendly. Not too crowded and although I remembered it always being freezing cold, the temps were actually not too bad. Really love this pool and happy I got a chance to come back and swim here again!
