Let me tell you, I've met with other local flute/piccolo dealers in NY/NYC, but none can compare to experience you get when going to Weissman Music! Once you meet Jeff and his team, you'll immediately see how passionate they are about the profession and why they are, in my opinion, the best in the world! My main instruments are the clarinets, but I adore the flute and piccolo and thoroughly enjoy playing them in the local community bands. Knowing this, Jeff eagerly guided me through the entire 9 + hour process of trying a plethora of piccolos and headjoint combos. Not only did Jeff help me choose the piccolo that was perfect for me, he also imparted invaluable tips and expert techniques. I can finally say I have the piccolo of my dreams and can't thank Jeff and his team enough for the extraordinary opportunity! I look forward to going back and getting my dream rose gold flute upgrade!! Thank you to Luke Panella for doing a wonderful job overhauling my flute! This is the ONLY place I send my flute and picc to be serviced and repaired. Below are pictures of the magnificent Weissman handmade professional cocobolo wood piccolo with silver keys and traditional cocobolo wood headjoint with 14k gold riser and mother of pearl crown. The second darker headjoint is made of grenadilla wood and is a wave style headjoint with mother of pearl in the crown.

I have read some misguided reviews here, I can only deduce that some parents are uninformed about…read morehow a business works or could even be delusional about how talented their kids are naturally . With this said, I want to share my story with Real Brave. My son Lukas has been coming here for a bit. In the time Lukas has been here, he has learned to play the piano and while he is in fact, not naturally inclined towards instruments, he has slowly but certainty learned much . My son has benefited greatly, not just his skill set, but also his confidence. Nothing compares to see your child blossom, especially on these days where our boys are sometimes persona non grata. These people are patient and foment growth in the child's character. I am a witness to this and, confessedly, I am a borderline cynic. But, you must give credit to these caring and patient instructors. I believe my sons instructor's name is Sam Ye (my bad for not remembering), and he has been extraordinary to my son, and I have seen him engage with others with the same mannerism. Other team members also seem to display the same dedication to their students, but my exposure to them has been limited. A point of interest is that they have a couple of concerts every year and your child can participate, which by default, will help them in social settings. Finally, I appreciate their flexibility to make up missed lessons which is more than other, one on one instructors, could put up with. I recommend Real Brave and I want to thank them for the service they provide to our neighborhood. I wish them all the success possible.

DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THIS BUSINESS…read more I was a student at the upper east side location before it closed. I had pre-paid for 3 months of lessons, and it closed after 1 month. I have tried to get my money back for the 2 months of lessons I did not receive for over 6 months and have been ignored. It is a shame that the management for this business is so scummy because the instructors were always kind and helpful.

My son attends the "Rookies" class (6 and 7 year olds) and he really loves it. The teacher, Mr…read more Nick, is excellent and keeps the students engaged. What makes the Rookies class unique is that students are allowed the opportunity to explore different instruments (guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, and vocals) so they don't need to commit to a single instrument just yet. Group instruction allows the students to work together as a band - playing with other musicians is one of the best ways to improve your skills. The Bayside/Queens location recently changed ownership and was acquired by School Of Rock of Long Island around October 2022. I believe they are going to expand to Forest Hills as well. The students learn 1 new song each month which gives students exposure to many different musical genres (rock, blues, pop, metal, hard rock). They could be playing "Roar" by Katy Perry one week then AC/DC's "TNT" another week. Most recently they were learning the "Twist and Shout" (Beatles version) and "Rockin' Robin" (Bobby Day) - I just realized that School Of Rock probably has to pay a decent amount of money for the licensing/ASCAP fees. At the end of each month of the Rookies class, the parents are invited to watch the children perform the song and it's impressive how much the student pick up after a few hours of group instruction. The older students who receive individual lessons actually perform at a live venue for an authentic rock star experience. I'm looking forward to seeing my son continue to learn and grown at School of Rock!
