I came off a challenging 2023 tax year and had my fears about 2024 too, but I believed H&R Block would be the place that could help me get back on track. Up front, I can say that the courtesy, concern, and care for their clients is stellar! I didn't just pay attention to how the team here took care of me, but I was always keeping an eye on how they dealt with others too. It was comforting to watch. I didn't have the best experience last year at the tax service where I had them prepped last year. This was a necessary change for me. The well-experienced professional, Pam, who took care of my tax preparation not only took care in her work, but I was very grateful that she gave me details and a good measure of teaching to help me understand taxes, how they work, and what I'll need to do this year to make the tax prep and result for 2025 better. I did a good job of digging out of a hole from 2023, but I now know better how to make adjustments for 2025 that will improve things for the next time around. Yes, I knew in advance I would owe Uncle Sam some dollars going in, but my head is well-above water and I'm glad of that! In addition, Pam was a providential meeting for me. I am grateful for the spiritual encouragement she provided, another gift of hope that has helped me walk in my faith stronger and know I can rely on God to lead me through life's journey! Well, that was an unexpected providence that I'm very grateful for! The quality of work, care for the client, and I would say pricing, overall, is of good value, while the first two are awesome! I normally prepare my own taxes but because this was the first year filing as a full time FL resident I was a little stumped but how to file with having my property up north, so to be on the safe side I decided to get my taxes prepared by a professional. I contacted John via Yelp message one week prior to the filing deadline. I told him my situation, filing status, dependents, number of W-2's, etc and asked for a quote. He responded to me almost immediately and stated I can call him to set up an appointment. Although his quote was higher than I had hoped, I do think that it was less than big retail giants. I've never had my taxes filed with them before, however my hubby did when he was single and I remember it being really pricey. John was very personable and a pleasure to with with. He asked how I found out about him and I said Yelp (of course). What I didn't tell John was I had actually contacted a different place prior, Tax For JAX, since it was one of the other tax place that had 5 stars review. I emailed and left a message for Stacy and did not get a response. I contacted John and the rest was history. John gave me the option to stay while he did my taxes or drop it off and pick up the next day. I went with the latter just because when I do my taxes, I like to be able to concentrate and triple check the information is correct without any distractions. He took the time to review my old taxes and pointed out a credit I missed and said he can do an amended return however the cost of doing that really wouldn't be worth it. My refund amount was very close to what I had gotten had I submitted it myself but the way I would have filed it was slightly different. John sent me an email from him once my return was accepted by the IRS and that I would receive my refund within 2 wks. I received my refund within a few days. Previously John worked for someone else for 5 years, but this is the first year working on his own. If I decide I need help with taxes next year, I wouldn't hesitate to go to John again.
