They do not deal with emergencies. Had a water pipe break during the winter freeze, they told me they'll schedule me for tomorrow. They didn't even tell me how to turn the water off. I told the operator that this was an emergency. Still put you on for tomorrow. I would rate them a zero because I couldn't even use them to know. However I did use another plumbing service that directed me over the phone on turning off the water and came 1 hr later and fixed the problem. Stop focusing on commercials to get more clients if you can't handle emergencies adequately. Customer Service is key!!! read more

Requested a quote for a hydro cooled/heat gas water heater from two different companies and Keith McNeill was the lowest plus they did not charge for the estimate like the other company did (I saved $525 over the other company). Kenny and Jared (I hope I got the names right) were professional, friendly and a true pleasure to have in my home. They knew exactly what they were doing and did it & cleaned up after themselves. All in all I could not have asked for anything better. I highly recommend. This was to replace the heater that was previously (2 months ago) installed by Lowe's which was a straight gas water heater. They came to locate a slab leak and charged extra to use special equipment to locate it. When they came back to fix the slab leak it turned out to be in a different location. They refused to refund the $200 cost to come out the first time where the tech failed to correctly locate the leak. Thought it was a mistake and ignored it. 2 more weeks pass and another invoice. I called and was asked to provide proof of payment or pay the invoice, otherwise they will send me to collections. Had to go to my bank and get statements proving transaction was paid, and funds have left my account. No wonder this company only avg 2.5 stars with many 1 star. I have needed a plumber a few times in my 32 years in my home, and every time I've gotten the best service from Keith McNeill Plumbing! The last time I noticed water coming from my concrete foundation, and called Keith McNeill to see when they could come take a look. They set up an appointment for the next afternoon, and then called back to say they would come in the morning, because a foundation leak could cause serious damage. They showed up at 8:30 am, and quickly found the precise location of the leak, and replaced the leaky copper pipe. They were done by n10:30 am, cleaned up everything, and were gone. The price was very reasonable, and the work was expertly done. I appreciate the great work, and the cheerful attitude of both men. read more

For a business that advertises that they do only plumbing and nothing else, apparently had better get more efficient plumbers. I had a clogged kitchen sink for over 2 days. They came out on a Monday and cleared the line with the rooter. I pay them. Then, today, we had the same thing happen all over again. They didn't clear the line properly. I was upset and called them again but they said they don't warranty stop ups so if they came out again it would be over $150 AGAIN!! I made an appointment anyway but my sink would be stopped up for 3 days before they could come out. I stewed for awhile. Then I called and asked for a manager. I was told she was busy with clients and she would call me back. Well it's 10 pm and no call. Customers beware. I've been a faithful customer for almost 4 years. No more. We're new to Tallahassee. I had used McNeill Plumbing for a drain problem, so they were "my plumber' now. I called on Thursday January 26,2023 and scheduled a tankless water heater service for the next day, Friday. No show on Friday. No call. No text. No email. Monday, no contact, so I call anothe plumber. Tuesday at 12:54pm I get a call from someone from McNeill apologizing for the scheduling mistake and that someone is on their way. I told him no thanks, I'll get someone else. We have lived here for three years now. I'm a retired GC/ custom home builder near Seattle for 35 years. I have had a lot of work done here. Landscapers, fence builders, plumbers, electricians, concrete guys, tree removal, excavators, etc.. I am shocked at how unprofessional, undependable, and unskilled MOST of them have been. I actually had to re-tie rebar correctly to pass inspection after the crew argued that their work was perfect. They were the first crew fired. read more

I'll start this review with the positive comments, that I have had experience with technicians Wes and Cory and both were exemplary. However, with McNeill plumbing overall, not so happy. I needed to have a leaking tub handle replaced and I failed to ask the cost before asking them to come fix it. I also had some other odd plumbing jobs around the house. Again the quality work was excellent, but they charge $110 an hour. As for the tub, it was a $90 part from Lowe's had I bought it myself, and all totaled just the tub faucet replacement was $537. Yikes. Do your homework before calling these folks. read more

I called them to come look at a leaky toilet. I assumed it just needed a new ring, but turns out that it is cracked and a whole new toilet is needed. Fine. It's not like I or they have a replacement toilet just waiting there. So they charge me $110 just to come tell me I need a new toilet. That would be ok, IF.. IF... IF.. they had told me t his on the phone when I made the appt. They never said.. we charge $110 service call regardless of the work done. Called on Friday to fix the mixing valve that broke off in the master bathroom. Said they could come out Monday or I would have to pay the after-hours rate of $172.50. Since my whole house had no water, we had to turn it off, I asked them to come ASAP. Jason came out Saturday morning and capped the valve lines explaining that he come back Monday, when the rate was cheaper, to put in the new valve. He was extremely nice even took out only the area he needed to to get to the valve so the tile on the shower wall stayed mostly intact. He was great and did an excellent job. read more

I had an emergency plumbing issue about a month and a half ago. The technician that came out refused to wear a mask and he was dressed for country hoedown. He was rude to me he would not answer my questions and he did not fix the problem. I reported him to the McNeill plumbing Company but no one called me back. Now they're out here today next-door working on a problem and the technician had nerve to use my water several times on the outside. Once again I called and reported it so far no call back. I Called Keith McNeill plumbing for an emergency leak in our dining room floor and left a message on their 24 hour service line. When no one called me, I called them again during regular business hours the next day and they said that they had received my call. So I scheduled an appointment for 10am the next day. When no one showed up, I called again and they said they were running behind and would be there shortly. I called again at 1pm an spoke with Heather who told me in a very rude voice that they had other jobs to take care of which had not been scheduled and they she did not know when they could come to my home. However, after having a problem with them the second time, we definitely would not use this company again. Our second experience with them involved multiple rescheduled appointments due to their employee having a family problem and an issue with their billing practices. Though we disputed the time taken for services, the indifferent woman we spoke with just kept repeating that GPS showed they were right about how long their tech was at our house. I don't know what happened to this company. They used to be the best around. We've used them for over 30 years. We called them to repair a leaking tub/shower faucet. The technician came out and tried to repair the valve, but, due to the age, it kept leaking and he advised the entire valve assembly would have to be replaced. He also advised there would be NO CHARGE for that day's visit, as long as we used them for the full valve replacement. The following week we used them for the full replacement and were charged $580.00. Two months later we received a bill for $145.00. I called them and they advised this charge was for the initial service call. I told them the technician advised there would be no charge for the unsuccessful repair. The billing person said she would get back to me. I had to call them a month later and was advised there was a "miscommunication" and the technician was not authorized to advise us there was no charge for the failed repair, so, we still owed it. TALK ABOUT UNPROFESSIONAL! Not to mention unethical behavior. Terrible, terrible customer service for a 30 year plus customer. We have spend thousands and thousands of dollars with this company and this is how we are treated. NEVER EVER AGAIN! read more

On May 24, 2021, Monday, we smelled burning plastic and followed the smell to our water heater. Seeing that wires were starting to melt the area around one of the two front panels, we shut off the electricity to it on Monday night. We were scheduled to have Keith McNeil plumbing come during a 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM window the next day. Taylor arrived at 4:05 PM, and after assessing the situation said that he couldn't do it because he had other things to do. He also didn't know that it was going to be a full water heater replacement, even though we had called the office several times that day, touching base with them on their arrival time and telling them more than once that it probably needed to be replaced, as well as asking them for the cost of the water heater ($509). And now at this point in the day (4:15 pm) the office was saying that they didn't have any water heaters in stock for us but would in the morning. Taylor and Barry arrived at 8:30 AM today, Wednesday. In regards to cost, the State water heater itself is $509 through them ($359, Rheem, 40 gal, at Home Depot.) I thought we were going to be paying an hourly rate as I have done with them for everything else for years so I didn't even bother to ask for the total cost in advance, only for the water heater alone. At the end I was charged $1145. When I asked for the breakdown in price I was told $509 plus $636.25 for installation. (Two men are $172.50 per hour and I was being charged for four hours.) They began working at 8:30 AM and stopped at 9:50 AM, however they sat in their truck and actually left at 10:45 AM, as they said they were just waiting to make sure that it heated properly. In speaking to the technician and the office I learned that they charge a flat rate and this has been standard, what they have done for years. I was frank with them and said that I've been dealing with them for years and I'm used to an hourly rate for everything. As a result I didn't know that I needed to ask about total price. Under reviews for Keith McNeill Plumbing someone else had another plumber install their water heater for $85/1 hours worth of work. This is a drastic difference in price read more

Don't waste your time with Keith McNeill Plumbing unless you enjoy going in circles for weeks on end, getting nothing done, and dealing with outdated, inefficient processes. We saw they had great reviews online and were looking for a quality plumber to work on our kitchen renovation, so we asked them to come out and bid our kitchen job along with a few other projects we will be tackling in the near future. They came back with a quote that wasn't itemized, so when we asked them to isolate the kitchen cost, they emailed us back with the same exact quote they had sent the first time. When we notified them of the repeat error, they informed us that NO ONE in the office except for the exact plumber that came out to our house, could break out the kitchen cost for us, and sent us to his voicemail. The plumber never returned our calls. After calling and emailing the office 6 or 7 times over a period of 3 weeks, we continued to get no response or solution--even after expressing to them that our calls were not being returned, that it was the only thing holding up our renovation process, and we really wanted to do business with them. The secretaries merely shrugged us off and continued to send us to voicemail. We STILL to this day, have NEVER received a response from the Keith McNeill Plumbing regarding our quote, and now have to start the whole process over again with someone new. It was a giant waste of our time and we wish we would've just gone with someone else from the start. Seriously, never in my life have I experienced such apathy and poor customer service before, not to mention been completely ghosted by a business I was trying to give my money to. I just moved to my 30 year old home and found a large leak from my kitchen flooding into the garage. My wooden kitchen floor was buckled! As with any move, we had placed many items in the garage waiting to be placed. Our boxes of important papers were saturated, my oriental rug ruined. I was distraught but knew who to call- McNeil Plumbing. Eric Stover came to diagnose within an hour and had a crew there the same day to pinpoint the leak. Eric educated us about our options and we decided to go with his suggestion to repipe through the attic. We had 2 men, Clint Mccurley and Jammaine Henderson complete the task. They were professional, pleasant and we had full confidence in their abilities. It is really hot this time of year, I can't even imagine working in the attic! We got an estimate from them and had some simple questions. After multiple calls and emails, they did not get back to us over a week's time, so we called another company. We had been told by McNell that to reroute our drain pipe from under our slab house we would need a pump in addition to the rerouting. Another company said that gravity feed would be fine, and we've been using that for about a month now with no problems and it was more than $1000 cheaper besides not having to maintain a pump or having it not work when the power goes out. So McNeill does not communicate with customers in anywhere near a timely manner and are at best incompetent when giving estimates, although personally I think that they're shysters. I would give their company zero stars, although their office staff are great and I feel sorry that they have to deal with their incompetent-at-best higher-ups. read more

I called Keith McNeil Plumbing this afternoon for a quote to have a Water Heater installed. I purchased my own 50 gallon, electric, high end water heater from Lowes and I needed to have it installed by a professional. Upon calling I was greeted by a very nice young lady and transferred to Cheryl in their Service Department. Upon talking to Cheryl, I explained what I was looking to have done and she then proceeded to give me a quote. This is when I about fell out of my chair. For Keith McNeil plumbing to install my water heater (remember I purchased it already) they would charge me over $617. Included in that price, uninstalling 2 water lines, 3 electrical wires and reconnecting these items on the new water heater. OUTRAGEOUS! I asked to speak with someone about the price as I thought she was confused however, "Bob" told me the same thing. I was shocked and told them their pricing is highway robbery.
