Whether or not this playpark is the best in the West End is up for debate in one sense only; is it actually the West End? Estate agents would tell you yes, car insurers would tell you, unanimously, no.
Whatever it is, it's a damn fine place to take your kids for the afternoon. For one thing, it's probably the biggest free play area in this part of the city, offering children an array of chutes, roundabouts, swings and climbing frames in a vast, spacious area which curves around North Kelvinside Parish Church.
Partially hidden from Queen Margaret Drive by trees, the park provides children with a slip-free, rubber surface while parents can watch enviously from the benches as their offspring slide down chutes that they quite fancy a shot of themselves. While during the day this represents a perfect place to take your kids, naturally, the one downside is that this area remains ever so slightly shady at night.
For instance, local undesirables have been known to use the park for drinking and, having witnessed it myself on many a night home, winching.
While this is naturally the side car insurers refer to, estate agents would tell you it's merely giving your child an early birds and bees lesson. Educational as well as fun, you see. read more
