So I followed his instructions, and listened to him. He explained everything clearly. It made sense. I repeated my next steps, to be sure that I understood. He said that I did understand. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I called Kelly & Ryan this morning to resolve an issue with a prior bill I had already paid. I even tried to keep things light at first, joking that the problem was probably their fault (like they hear all the time). What I got in return was the single worst customer service experience of my life. The man who answered the phone immediately began speaking over me, wouldn't let me finish a sentence, and escalated to yelling at me--full volume. I asked several times for his name or a manager. He refused. My husband, who had heard everything on speaker, took the phone and also asked for the man's name. The guy yelled, "No! I'm not giving you my name! Goodbye!" and then hung up on us. I've worked in customer service for years, and if I had ever treated a customer the way he treated me, I would have been fired on the spot. I wasn't rude, I wasn't yelling -- I was trying to solve a billing issue that originated on their end. Instead, I was screamed at, dismissed, and hung up on for trying to speak. I've already lodged a formal complaint with the town this was connected to, and I'm filing complaints with every relevant agency I can. This behavior was absolutely disgusting. I pay my Motor Vehicle Excise Tax as soon as it comes in the mail. I paid this tax at the beginning of April, 2025. I printed out the confirmation of payment. One month later, I received a Warrant for Nonpayment of the same Motor Excise Tax with $25+ in additional fees. I went back and found the original confirmation receipt and saw that the box with my routing number for my bank was duplicated into the box for my account number. I know that I put in my account number. I am careful. It never occurred to me to notice that their form did not record my account number. So today, I paid the tax with the additional $25 using a credit card, not my bank account. I just filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Who are these people? I am wondering if this error was intentional? A way to grab more $$$? Most people will do what I did, just pay the extra $25. read more

Wishing I could give no stars. They told me two times this morning that it would take a half hour to clear with the registry. I went an hour later and it didn't clear. I called back to make sure and the man I spoke to was extremely rude. He told me 'that's why you don't pay your bill a year late!' And then hung up. Excuse me you don't know my situation that I was never made aware of this bill. Until 2 years later. It was mistake by the town that sent it to my car company. As a taxpayer, military veteran 66 plus years of age, and Attorney, DP Kelly and Associates are not only rude and incompetent. Their sole control of the tax collectors' system goes against the principle of an open system. Shame on the State legislatures and governor's offices that use this monopoly system, and any politicians who endorse this should be voted out of office. This service is a fraud because for starters it is a complete monopoly that is tied to the DOT. The only method to pay a late excise tax is through this company. 95% of the people that are using this are doing so because there income tax is late. The reason it is late isn't something that is always caused by the taxpayer there are multiple factors. However this company and the RMV Charge almost $100.00 in late fees and then if you make the mistake of using electronic check which is (.50cents) they penalize you with an additional 2 week wait before its cleared. If you choose card it is 3.2% of the charge which is totally absurd. The sad fact that i didnt even process the transaction and closed out, got no confirmation yet when i go back to pay by credit card it says paid. I called and they Say there is nothing they can do. It is mostly the poor who are being robbed by this system designed to take advantage of those who are trying to abide by the law. Absolutely THE WORST customer service hands down. I call to let them know that I am only NOW learning that I have an expired excise tax on my vehicle. I learn that from RMVs website. I inform them that I have from from USPS.com that NOTHING was ever mailed out since they scan every letter. Their response is "its covered by the Commonwealth....". This Company has the rudest, inept, illetirate staff that I have ever had to deal with. They are in violation ofMGL Ch. 60A §2A regarding the clearing of single vehicles ;Mark relates to the Registration of a Single Vehicle Where the non-renewal mark has been placed on the registration of a single vehicle, the mark should be removed upon payment of the total amount due on that vehicle. They Keep saying they cant remove the LICENSE MARK because I owe excise on another vehicle. I am not asking them to. I was calling to clear up a 9 year old collection of excise tax that should never have been charged to me to begin with. The man who answered the phone did not want to identify himself and only gave his name as "Fred." This company sent me a letter telling me that the excise tax bill they sent me was in error. Now the same company is sending me a letter telling me they have a warrant to collect my excise taxes, i.e the bill they told me not to pay is delinquent.
