(I have code locks on the door) He didn't accept payment until after he saw the home in person which gave me a huge boost in confidence. I had a technical issue paying via CashApp, but he was completely reasonable and after another day of waiting everything got sorted. Every step of the way I felt like I was treated like an actual human being, not just a paycheck. He worked over the weekend and I got my full report less than a week after he saw the home. I have only had 3 appraisals in my life but this one was BY FAR the most complete. He included twice the number of comps that my other two had, and even included a description of why each comp was chosen and where the differed from my house. All of this was without asking. I only told him that I wanted an honest appraisal and he went above and beyond every step of the way. I'm honestly a little unsure how much he makes hourly because he looked at the tax records, permits, the last two listings, previous sales, physically spent time in the home, and took the time to talk to me on the phone 4 times. That's in addition to looking for comps and creating the actual report. Every phone call and text made me feel more and more confident that I was getting an accurate appraisal. The house is 70 years old so there was confusion on when things we updated and what permits were pulled, but every question he asked made sense and was directly relevant to getting a true valuation. I was browsing Zillow and Craig popped up as a recommended agent, so I figured I'd meet with the guy. Poor Craig must have gone to 20 houses with my wife and I over a 5 month period, but he taught me so much of what to look for in a house. He didn't complain one single time when we went out to check out a house. I did all the things realtors probably hate. I bid below asking on every house, I was picky about the stupidest things and it was just my first time so I really didn't know what I wanted. Craig was great. Any agent will try to sell you a house, make their money and move on, but because Craig's family has been in the business and he has a passion for it, this is his career. So he'd rather keep you as a repeat client, and it shows. He even made me aware of a type of water piping used in Robin Meadows that leaves houses prone to major pipe bursts. He could've not brought it up, let me make a good offer, made his money, but he didn't. I walked away from the house and ended up buying in Westview Park. I lived there for 4 years happily and then bought a house down in Potomac where again we must have checked out 10-15 more houses before I pulled the trigger, lowball offering once again. Then he even advised me and assisted me in getting my Frederick house rented with AMAZING tenants. My family has used him now as well.
